Gen speed rant
Rant imminent. I genuinely find it baffling that Brand New Parts still exist in the game. Like 4 of them on one gen and you can delete a gen within the first 10-15 seconds within the game starting. Hello?!!!! Combined with the fact that 2 survs working on a hen simulataneously reduces the total singular gen time to like 44 seconds (basically half of its original), makes it unfathomable.
I just had 3 games In a row in which I was gen rushed to oblivion with bnp's and my god its the most frustrating thing. One chase would cost me like 2 gens. I can't even play killers I like without having to take the 'gens on lockdown' build. God I hate rank 1. Meanwhile I play survivor and I get bodyblocked and constant teammate dc's. I just want to play trickster or ghost face :.)

Think about it this way. 4 toolboxes means no medkits or keys

Healing is also pretty fast, though Sloppy helps a bit, but for me it feels like survivors are still speeding by
2 -
Yeah if you see 4 toolboxes not a terrible idea to bring franklins

I agree with you, gens feel pretty easy to do and get done ludicrously fast. On one hand. I would absolutely love a gen timer increase, but on the other I'm too worried that it would shadow buff already powerful killers and make solo survivors even more hell to deal with.
I personally stopped giving a damn about gen regression perks and start using some more perks that makes it harder for survivors to deal with me in a chase
1 -
2 survivors x 16 seconds is really not that fast.
1 -
Anyway, as already pointed out, making gens take longer would make solo queue even worse than it is.
3 -
I would rather a team full of BNP that gets wasted on one gen over an entire team of purple medkits.

Sadly gen speeds/time isn't the problem. The problem comes from the fact that survivors don't have enough objectives prior to gens.
3 -
Nah I'd say other way round. There's so many exposed effects from perks, powers and killer add ons which just overshadow healing, so I don't really have an issue with that stuff. But instant gen deletion makes me dc no matter what. Playing on a map like Dead Dawg Saloon where there's like 6 breakable walls in the tavern building + a few from the safe jungle jyms near the tavern building + the shack wall, you have to break in order to traverse properly takes (6x3) 18 seconds of your time (from tavern), 3-4 breakable walls from jungle gyms = 9-12 and the extra 3 seconds from shack wall. That's 33 seconds of time wasted at maximum just so you can actually enable mind gaming on those loops and proper traversal. Then you have to actually GET to the gens, chase them, and down them whilst the other survs are still doing gens. It just flys by and its so demotivating.

Nowhere did I say gen times should be increased :). But gen speed increases need to be toned down.

You'd be surprised how often I see hatch escapes despite seeing no keys in lobbies

Franklin's with new toolboxes is kinda useless cause the toolboxes get used so fast.
4 -
Plus the fact that bnps are mainly used at the start of the trial and toolboxes get depleted quicker as a result makes it even more useless
1 -
Yeah, but were you here before Brand New Parts got nerfed?
0 -
Really? Im the only one that saves toolbox+bnps for the last 1 or 2 gens?
0 -
oh god, instant completion of gens when bnp was used…if all 4 survivors had it then their would be 1 generator left at the start of the match 😭
2 -
try running franklins, it will save your life if you see 2-4 toolboxes
0 -
Nope! I'll do that too. If I bring in a toolbox(not usually, unless I'm doing a challenge that has me starting gens)I'll usually use it on that first gen, if the Killer is occupied and there's a good chance I'll be able to finish it. If I find one in a chest, I'll usually hang onto it, in case we need a speed boost on that last gen or two, or if I want to get one last one lit before we all get whacked.

No, they do. They just don't bother with them most of the time, hence the never ending NOED controversy.
1 -
Yes, after years gen still go terrible fast. It is possible to complete all the 5 gens in about 4 minutes without anything to make gens go quicker, just efficiency. To add insult to injury, toolboxes make this time even shorter. To add more insult to injure, perks like Prove Thyself and Resilience can make the repair speed even quicker. So yeah, in a nutshell, if the survivors just want to go through all the gens as fast as they can, there is not really something you can do other than just accept defeat and try to get at least one kill.
2 -
Which is exactly why nied exists and why more people should run it.

Why even bother with locking down gens when you can use NOED and Blood Warden for a dank end game build? Let them eat gens, I always say. Let them...
0 -
Yeah BNPs will do that. Personally I think this issue would be better if they reworked map spawns so that survivors never spawn directly next to generators. Then you have those few extra seconds to interupt survivors pulling something like that while also generally addressing the generator immediacy for survivors.

Totems are OPTIONAL objectives. I understand where your coming from though which is why I was upset about the ruin and undying nerfing because it was literally either play through it, or find the totems.
But, than again! Ruin and undying were optional and survivors needs something prior to gens. What I mean by prior to gens is that they have to do this in order to do a gen.

SWF…

Solo players would switch to killer, leave the game or more likely started playing in SWF. So everyone would lose in the end.
More SWF for killers to deal with

The gen speed is fine, especially coop repair is bad now. You should be happy if they work all together on a gen since just 1 gen will pop.
The problem is when survivors spread and everyone does 1 gen, in the time you chase 1 survivors 3 gens will pop and there is nothing you can do about.

Coop destroys you in mid game.
It is most efficient to split up and do 3 gens solo at the start and then have one survivor on a gen solo and 2 survivors on another gen to halve the repair time and then move to help the solo guy.
0 -
Exactly you are right but you can protect the last 2 gens very easily.
0 -
Using 4x BNP for the first gen is a waste though. BNPs best use would be for the last gen when the killer already has built pressure
0 -
That depends on the survivors. 3 gen strats don't work against anyone with at minimum half a brain. If survivors are experienced they will always target any gens that are close together at the start of the game and then it is as simple as W meta gaming away from them to force the killer to chase you and lose the gens or leave you to heal and the other survivors do the same thing. The war of attrition will always be lost for the killer if survivors pay attention.
