Opinion of Decisive Strike
I’m wondering on people’s thoughts on current DS. It used to be the #1 way to stop killers from tunneling, but with its nerf everyone relies on borrowed time. Any opinions?

It is in a good state
Personally I think the perk is fine. It does exactly what it’s supposed to nothing more nothing less. That being said though it’s not like I would be boycotting the game if it got some minor buffs.

It's still one of the strongest perks in the game.

Its alright, it does its job and isnt unfair
Im personally not bringing a perk every game that might not even do anything, just to fix tunneling lol.

If you really get tunneled, you still have 60 seconds of your advantage. If you don't get tunneled, then you can work on Gens. The perk is good the way it is now.

It is in a good state
For the first time in its history after some 2 or 3 separate significant changes and many more minor changes between those on top I think Decisive Strike is actually in a good state. Which is a big thing to say I'd like to think because this perk has been out since 2016, it's been in a poor state with valid reason for criticism since 2016, and I personally spoke a lot about the perk on the forums and in other places for about that length of time as well (not since 2016- I was garbage back then so I didn't really care for the nuance of balance).
It does what it's intended to do, it's an anti-tunneling perk that still serves it's purpose and people no longer talk about that crappy and forced shift in perspective calling it an "anti-momentum" perk in an effort to avoid it getting nerfed. As far as I've seen you can't really use it for super aggressive purposes anymore (although you probably can still use it to be slightly more aggressive in protecting other people for a short time after you're unhooked but you can't heal or unhook people without sacrificing the effect of the perk so even this is limited).
Although I still think that getting into a locker should have been an added condition that would deactivate the perk- enough was done to fix it's more pressing core issues and concerns that I'm willing to concede this final little nitpick.
I'm very happy that DS was finally changed, and the people that run it, much like I and many others always said, it's still in a powerful state and viable condition to be used so they should also still be happy that it wasn't gutted like they thought it would be. That's not something anybody ever asked for when they requested changes for DS- the intention was never to gut the perk- only to reign it in so it's used for it's proper purpose and only it's proper purpose and absolutely nothing more or less. That was finally achieved when the devs implemented the fix more or less verbatim as the community requested for months and months. And it's great to see the community's efforts result in actual tangible changes to the game, which is an event that sometimes happens too infrequently and far between.

The perk could use some minor tweaks to improve it
It should have at least some minor tweaks. Such as not having to hit a skill check. Just an automatic stun. It doesn't really make sense for a situational one time use perk like DS to still have it, seeing as though if it's going to be any use, you usually are actually being tunneld. It's not exactly hard to hit, but it's just unnecessary now. I can also imagine those with poor FPS might struggle hitting it. The current late DS skill checks allow killers very close to the hook to hook you before DS activates, this issue would therefore be resolved.
Now, if it were to be buffed slightly I've heard of a suggestion that allows the survivor to still interact with gens, heal others etc. But instead of DS deactivating instantly, it'd start deactivating A LOT quicker whenever that certain action is happening.
I'm not entirely sold on my second point myself as it'd allow survivors to tap a kicked gen and get away with it but for my first point I believe this should be a thing.

Most of the 60% of people that choose #1 are killer mains probably change my mind (this is a guess and kinda a joke)

Yeah the perk is fine. It’s balanced. It cuts off tunneling and kind of tells you stop tunneling. Plus it is disabled when doing the most simple things. So the devs balanced it. But when it’s a SWF it can get extremely frustrating.

If you ARE getting tunneled, and the killer absolutely wants you dead, I don't see why you can only use DS once. If they hook you, you get unhooked, the killer goes after you again, downs you again, eats DS, chases you again, hooks you and the process repeats, you should be able to use Decisive Strike a second time. Or a third.

Now that it doesn't shield you while you're doing objectives, I think you should get to use it after both hooks. Otherwise, it's okay.
