Is Nurse at the point of being unchangeable?
I hear a lot of Nurse complaints and people wanting her to be changed. Personally I never had to many issues with Nurse. But, that got me thinking is there anything to really change that wouldn't end her. Has she reached the point where she can't be changed further? Unlike Spirit who can still receive nerfs and be a strong killer. I can't see any further nerfs for Nurse that wouldn't ruin her. So if you have a miracle change please post it.

Nerf her blink recharge add ons. I don’t really want her nerfed though, but that’s how I would do it.

That would do nothing. The base-kit rework in general did absolutely nothing from what I've seen, just made Nurse a bit less enjoyable.

In my opinion, Nurse is a necessary evil.
She might have been made to counter the sheer amount of overpowered things survivors had in the past.
But the thing, they still have the advantage when it comes to the absolute highest level of play, and there must be a killer who can deal with that.
If Nurse fits this role, leave her be.

IMO nurse needs her bugs fixed. She has more bugs than the entire game

Nurse will never be changed. The thing is, she is a big design failure, a relict from a time where so much stupid things were in the game. Nurse is one of those stupid things, yet, she cannot be changed.
You cannot really nerf her, unless you want to nerf her into Oblivion so that she basically stays the same, but is super-weak.
She would need a full Rework, which includes making her more accessible for newer players and also includes that she is actually playing DBD and not her own game. Something like increasing her Movement Speed to 4,4m/s at least and if you want to keep the Blink Mechanic, nerf it heavily (like not being able to blink through Objects)... So basically that she can catch Survivors without using her ability, however, her ability helps her doing os.
BUT - this will never happen, the outcry would be too big. So we are stuck with a design failure, which cannot be corrected.

Without a rework what about giving her the same flaws has Spirit? unable to see the survivor during her blinks

Yea, you're spot on. It would be nice if they would rework her to remove the fatigue/screen darkening, increase her speed and only give her one blink or something, but Behavior would be burned to the ground if they touch her further.
As things are though, I've accepted her as part of the game and actually have fun versing her. Stealth is strong against her and it is fun trying to juke her, even if I only succeed 40% of the time. It's like playing in Hard Mode during a single player game.

I would say she's ok honestly.
Yes,the concept of Nurse is impossible to win against. But in reality there are very few Nurse players out there that can take full advantage of her power.
Those God Nurses are pretty much the killer equivalent to tournament/genuine genrush squads.
We just need to accept that there will always be some very unbalanced elements in this game and nothing will change this anytime soon.

Sounds like a weaker version of Blight tbh
But yeah, reworking would be a REALLY hard task

Exactly. The Fatique would be another big factor which would need to go or be reduced by a lot so that new Nurse Players are not in Fatique for an eternity if they miss a Blink and swing.
I also dont mind Nurse too much, even before the Nerf only multiple Blinks and Omegablink were annoying to go against for me. Exception is Infectious Fright or slugging Nurse-players, however, this is more on the player itself and less on the Killer.
This is basically to keep her power. You can also rework her completely with a whole different power, but this will be even more of a backlash. Reworking her is probably impossible, at least if you consider the feedback you get when changing her power drastically.

Well said!

Nurse is fine as she is minus bugs. We really need the base kit nerfs removed. A cool down on top of a cool down is just bs.
1 -
you can not balance Nurse with buffs or nerfs, the last attempts at that have proven this quite clearly.
if you want to make her balanced, she needs to be reworked.
but it doesnt look like the Devs want that right now, so we're gonna be stuck with her being OP for a while.

Thanks!

Some have said to make it so she can't blink through walls, but then in certain maps she would be unplayable. Balancing around making her playable on those maps would make her too convoluted to play & balance every patch & on a casual game.

I really wish they made her sort of easier to play the whole blink charge thing really kills any motivation to learn to play nurse

Frankly I would consider Spirit to be more of a design failure than Nurse. While Nurse may have been created for a different era of DBD, her powers, while certainly capable of making any match a joke in the right hands, take time and skill to use, meaning that these games are fairly few and far between. On top of this, Nurse still has plenty of counter play that doesn't make her unbalanced. Difficult and not necessarily guaranteed to get away? Sure. But in DBD every second counts, so extending a Nurse chase for a minute or two is rather huge.
And then of course you have Spirit over here whose power is comparatively much easier to use, not inherently something you can just play as and win instantly with, and has little to no counter play unless you want to count a coin toss only the killer knows the result of as "counter play." Unlike Nurse, Spirit has no form of information to let a survivor know they are using their power, where at least the Nurse has a sound cue and unique animation, not to mention is easier to dictate when a Nurse would likely use it.
The sad thing is that, much like with Nurse, you cannot really change Spirit. While there are a few tweaks that can certainly be done to hear (namely just some indicator to let the player know she is phasing), her base power cannot really be changed without a major overhaul or just nerfing it into the ground.

The only thing they could do is nerf her recharge more and buff her blink distance+speed. I'm not even sure what that would do.
0 -
Omega blink is in no way stronger now. It used to eat up distance super quick, which gave the survivor no time to react or predict how far she was going to blink.

People who want her nerfed have never actually played her to any competent level and are just put off at the (literal handful) of actually competent nurse players that exist. If BHVR listens to that kind of whining theres no point in playing anymore since its final proof that they will change their design to accompany low player skill instead of encourage learning the game. She is the most difficult character you could play in most games with the most muscle memory required than anything I've ever experienced or seen in a game...her design is nothing short of genius.
If BHVR wants to delete it/nerf it. Theres no hope.

Hypothetically, nothing is unchangeable.
I don't think it's very likely, given her low kill rate and Highish skill cap. Yes, good Nurses are a nightmare.
If anything slightly nerf her blinks and up her base speed, many people have already mentioned various ways to do this.
But like I said, not likely.

I don't think she's unchangeable at all. She's been around for years and people have invested lots of time into her, so the idea of tweaking or toning her frustrates people, understandably so. Her placement on tier lists and her usage in competitive play don't help either.
If Nurse was ever going to get changed, it's going to target her floor and ceiling. She has the lowest kill rate, so newer players need to have more control, while still keeping the rewarding skill curve intact. While she does have the lowest kill rate, she is almost unanimously considered the best killer in the game by far, simply because of how infinite her ceiling is depending on the player's skill. So a change would have a clear direction in its target.
Slander this idea all you want, but I don't see any suggestions or ideas, so I'll share my own.
Nurse's movement speed should be slightly increased. Her base speed of 3.85 m/s could be upped to around 3.95 or 4.0 m/s. This allows players to chase as an alternative to blinking, if they so choose. For newer players to Nurse, this would help a lot. Would it really lower the skill floor and help her kill rate? Not sure.
In exchange for some base speed, her maximum blink range and blink recharge speed at base could be toned down. Fatigue can stay the same. Toning down blink range and recharge speed effectively lowers her ceiling because she can't perform the same plays as before.
Why tone blink range and recharge speed? Aside from reduced fatigue from blinks, extra blink range and recharge speed addons such as Kavanagh's Last Breath and Fragile Wheeze easily see the most usage compared to her other addons. It's a change in the same vein of how Trickster's Melodious Murder got reworked, because it was the most sought after stat to buff through addons and saw significant usage compared to his other addons.
With more speed in chase, Nurse can hold blinks to use them more tactically, rather than relying on blinks for both movement in chase and hits. This eases the mechanical demands put on new players on Nurse, and should be lowering her high skill floor.
With reduced blink range and recharge speed, Nurse is not capable of applying the same map and chase pressure as before. This should lower her skill ceiling. Keep in mind that I wouldn't want any addons changed with these changes, so if you still want to tremendously increase max blink range or considerably reduce blink token recharge time, knock yourself out.
I would be very interested to see this Nurse in the hands of veteran players, as well as new Nurse players to see if the changes are healthy and help make her a bit more balanced across the board.

The only possible way she can be changed without drastically altering her entire playstyle and power is by changing her VERY slightly. Anything major would absolutley kill her.
0 -
We could nerf her movement speed. We don't need her to be Sanic the Hedgehog AND blink through walls.
0 -
She's the slowest killer in existence, slower than survivors.
3 -
I think the Nurse is in a good spot right now. In good hands she can still be extremely strong, but not like once when she could end a match in less than 30 seconds (I personally witnessed it).

The basekit rework did ALOT.
Before she didnt had a cooldown AND had more blinks which made it even for newer players pretty easy to land attacks.
1 -
She might be. As much as I hate her, theres nothing you can do about her unless she gets nerfed to the ground. And I dont want that.
Maybe some add ons can get tunned down a bit but thats probably all you can do with her now
0 -
I was referring to the base-kit nerf itself, not Nurse w/ add-ons. The extra blinks could only be used with add-ons (good riddance for those add-ons though).
The cooldown is very short and doesn't do much to good Nurse players.
0 -
While I do think nurse needs some sort of nerf, idk how they would do it without making her garbage tier
1 -
The cooldown doesnt do much to good nurses but if the cooldown wouldnt exist she would be waaaay easier to play.
0 -
Ah. I suppose that's true. I get what you mean.

I personaly think that Nurse is fine.
There are so few Nurses who are that good that you have to write them off the same way as 4 SWF with brand new parts. She also is quiet hard to learn and hard to master. People who invest that time and skill should be rewarded with a strong Killer.
Also it is the same as with most complains about Killers: People have to play in a different way against a Nurse. Most people however do not want to adapt and get kill for that very reason. Especialy against your regular Nurse there is plenty of counterplay and even Omega Blink is not that often.
2 -
Turn her into a 110 killer, give 3 blinks as basekit, increase the range and give it the same cooldown of Blight.
0 -
Just leave her be as she is, only way to change her is risking her to die through a Billy treatment. As long as they don't get a ridiculous good map for nurse and are highly experienced on her she's pretty fun to deal with. I get there's so many people frustrated about her state but you don't often find a nurse main that will down everyone in 3 minutes and end the game.
0 -
What if you just swapped around her Add ons and made matchbox nurse base. 4.4ms and one blink. Have her UR give old MS nurse and 2 blinks. Problem solved.
0 -
What a good Nurse does is ruin counterplay. Pallets and windows are useless. The counterplay is to break LOS and try like hell to lose her. Or hope she guesses wrong and misses her Blink attack. This is why a "good Nurse" is hard to find. A lot of your Blinks are going to be made blindly as, you cut through loops and obstacles to get a hit, it's really more of a 50/50 situation at that point. DId I Blink in the right direction or, did the Survivor double back?
If she couldn't Blink through everything, her Blinks would be used in chase more like Demo shred, to gain distance and swing. Obviously still better than Demo as, you can chain Blink and change your direction before CHOOSING to swing.
You would have to raise her base speed if you nerfed her Blinks.
Would she continue to be the ignore everything Killer we know and love today? No.
But could she still be a fun and strong Killer if she were changed? I believe so.
