Red Ranks are purposely deranking so they can bully new killers - why is this allowed?

Due to the recent event, I wanted to use some bloodpoints to increase the progression of the killers. I am now rank 20-18 ish killer, typically I do not kill anyone, maybe hook 2 people just to know how to play some killers, how to use their powers etc.

But in matchmaking on killer I got two types of survivors:

  1. Absolute potatoes on ranks 16-20, which is fine I guess, I am learning how to play the game and they are too.
  2. People who purposefully deranked from red ranks to rank 16-18. Why I know that they are red ranks? They are bragging about they biggest rank on their Steam profile.

So, why is this allowed? When someone is new to DBD and is matched with sweaty redrank survivors, that game is no fun at all.

When I saw moonwalking Claudette with flashlight I didn't even bother playing anymore, just messed around and kicked some gens etc. OFC that Claudette was 17 rank. 😐️

Then, in the endgame chat they were salty, because when they saw that I will not play with their toxic game, they threatened me with reporting my profile to support for being friendly.

Does BHVR want to do anything about this? Or is it okay that new killers get salty toxic p3 redranks?

I had to take a year away from dead by Daylight for life reasons. Upon return i was rank 20 on both sides. My survivor has been grinded back up to rank 3, my killer I’ve barely touched so its 18.

i did not purposefully derank things happen

In my opinion if you hit a rank you shouldn’t be able to lose that rank.

you hit purple? You’ll always be purple or better. Same for red. Trap us where we belong

Been happening forever, will keep on happening after the MMR changes. Might I add both sides suffer with this, but this is far from a priority at this point in the game's life.

Well first off Im pretty sure you cant derank into 20-17 anymore, I think you can still get rank-reset back that far though which means the claudette was in yellow ranks, not red ranks.

Unless this claudette was running tiles and loops really well and playing around pallets super well I doubt they're even that great.

I just think you got unlucky that you're new to the game and went against a "toxic" survivor.

Small people who need to feel big, but not much you can do. It is generally far less likely due to the time investment required but due to the DC penalty being off, all you have to do is leave a few games free of charge, then AFK the last one for the depip.

Reminds me of the good ole days, where streamers would derank from rank 1 to rank 10 to bully noob killers in their sweat squads, then say some hypocritical garbage to justify it. Entitled indeed

For real. I remember watching some of them end stream at red ranks and start up the next day in green with the tag line ~ I don't want sweaty matches~ but always bringing in the most busted set ups.

My friend hasn't played DBD in months, and returned for the anniversary event because it is the best time to farm bloodpoints. He returned to survivor at Rank 17. He's more frustrated about it than you are... trust me.

Its not fun for skilled survivors to solo queue into low ranks--teammates are destined to leave you on hook for ages.

You're pretty new to killer so they're likely not deranking and you just need to put more practice in to get better.

Killers do this as well, not a one sided issue.

Not like it matters, I still run into plenty of red ranks as a new killer. The color of their rank hardly matters to any relevant extent. They don't even need to derank to get into my lobbies. There is no MMR, deranking is pointless.

    Both sides do that.

Besides, with an Event going on, I would not jump to the conclusion that they are doing that on purpose. There was a big Chapter which was released a few weeks ago and there is an Event, where you have to collect Crowns or want to get Items in the Bloodwebs.

It might be entirely possible that those are either returning players or players who usually stick to Killer. (You often see this during Events, there are Legacy-Players who are god awful at the game... Not that Legacy means that they have to be good, but you can clearly see that some of them only play for events)

E.g. I have a friend who almost never players Killer. So he is in brown Ranks, despite having over 3000 hours and fully perked out Killers.

LOL Killers are just as guilty of deranking to bully new survivors. I run into an AFK deranking killer at least 3 times a day.

The reason you are getting stomped is because you are new. You can't derank from red ranks to rank 18. This is literally impossible. If you are fighting Rank 18 Survivors chances are they really are Rank 18 newbs. There's a small chance they are a smurf account or are one of those people who just play Killer all day long and have thousands of hours as killer, but are now collecting Halos for survivor or something. These people would still be really good at the game despite not playing Survivor because they know all the tricks for Killer so they know exactly how to counter you.

But generally if you're playing against a Rank 18 survivor that survivor is a newb.
