Sometimes enough is enough, man.
I had a match on Swamp the other day against a Plague that was pretty rough. Everybody else died, and soon it was my turn. I could tell by the Plague's cold, dead eyes that I was not going to escape alive.
I'm not finding the Hatch on the Swamp, no sir. I'm going to sit behind this ROCK by the exit gate until the Hatch is closed.
Riiiight behind this rock. This big, comfy rock. This shelter in the storm. My ancestors used to-ah frig, I got crows. NOT THE CROWS!!!
Anyway, as I was saying, this Plague would just Not. Give. Up. It was just a constant of hatch->gate->hatch->gate->hatch. But she didn't want to commit to the EGC... And this "EGC" went on for 10 whole minutes.....some Dbd games are not even 10 minutes..
At what point is enough enough? I love my 4ks, and sometimes specific survivors NEED to perish brutally, but even I know what a lost cause is. Better to just go on to the next game.
All in all, I got afflicted by the Crow status effect twice. All for what? Why do some people go sooooo far? I can understand why people play Stridor Spirit, because winning with little counterplay is fun. I would still never waste so much time even playing as Ebony Mori Spirit.
And it's the Anniversary too, cmon man, just close the hatch already so we can eat more cake!
I considered offering myself and getting it over with, but at that point it became about sending a message. Is it my job as survivor to mentally break and give up? Nah, it's my job to survive. It's you, Mr. Killer who needs to take the hint and move on.
It's okay to sweat for that last kill, but please don't make us stay here all day? Why do people go so far?

Way too many killers play like they’re in a competitive tournament.
7 -
I mean, I could ask you the same thing: why did you spend so much time sitting behind that rock?
11 -
I had to survive for my solo-q comrades who entrusted their lives to me. I was also playing as Cheryl, and while I haven't played SH, she seems like the type who has been through a lot so it wouldn't seem fitting to crack and surrender to evil.
2 -
Sounds to me like both sides anted something and were not planning on giving the opposing side a chance, so it’s on the both of you. To say either side was in the wrong is arrogant.
12 -
And the killer has to kill, or the Entity will become upset.
Going beyond the RP for a bit, the fact is, you were both wasting each other's time, as well as your own. I'm sure the killer was also wondering why you weren't doing anything.
10 -
Except the entity is not real and its satisfaction doesn't matter. However, contrary to what you killers believe survivors are actually humans who do have feelings. If he was doing whatever he was doing In order to help his teammates remain in the game and keep playing and enjoying the game then it's at least somewhat justified. Ruining other people's experience to make the entity "happy" isn't a justification.
1 -
Yeah, I think they're both partially at fault here.
As killer I almost always give the last person the hatch, and it can be frustrating watching that person hide forever, or painfully slowly walk around the entire map while watching me stand still in one position — I'm standing by the hatch smacking the nearest object and making as much noise as I can to say "hey, come get this damn hatch already!".
If the killer hasn't closed the hatch after a few minutes, it's almost certain they're waiting for you to use it.
2 -
I agree with Orion...
Why the rock? Why did you stay there for so long?
2 -
Shouldn't the killer just drop the ego and kick the hatch, then?
2 -
because I anticipated the Plague would anticipate me to camp the exit gate rather than look for hatch. And she came rather quickly, too. That proved to me she had no intentions on letting me go.
1 -
Crouch walk and hug the corner of the map instead? Like make your way to the other gate or just keep stealth moving until she does something
4 -
What about the killer's fun, though? Why don't you take that into account?
Also, I'm a survivor main.
Also also, you're the one who brought up RPing, by mentioning Cheryl. Why did you bring it up if you don't think it's a valid argument?
Is the killer egotistical because they wanted to win so badly that they spent a long time basically doing nothing?
5 -
If the killer stands on top of hatch and doesn't close it, just force it by doing a gen.
2 -
Why should the killer let the survivor go? You are not entitled to survival, and they aren’t entitled to a kill. There is no “ego” here, it’s simply wanting to play the game the way they want, and you played the way you wanted. You could have tried to sneak to the hatch and ended it one way or another, but no you say behind a rock long enough to get crows twice. You made your decision and they made theirs.
3 -
It is ego, though. You guys are overthinking this too much. After a 3k, just close the hatch and pray to the Entity you go to the right exit gate. If you see them, great then murder them or have a dance party.
2 -
And it’s ego to expect the killer the way you want them to so you can do what you want or end the game how you want. It goes both ways. You’re being arrogant.
3 -
So do Survivors. I can't have fun as a Killer or run off-meta or it's teabagging, flashlight clicking, and 'GGEZ' in the chat.
This is not a Killer-only thing.
3 -
Going to be honest I feel if there was no ranking system there wouldn't be as many tryhards
2 -
Yeah, because tournament players teabag and flashlight click lol
0 -
I'd be fine with ranks updating only on the 13th. I think getting depipped after a stressful game has an unconscious psychological impact on players.
0 -
And to think 'playing tournament' = toxic is really entitled.
Both sides can try to win. Dunno what to tell you.
4 -
Never said that, sweating so hard for the 4k is.
0 -
OF COURSE 'sweating for the 4K' is.
Survivors always claim Killers are 'tryhard' for a 4K, but that never applies to Survivors:
- 4 meta perks, each
- SWF
- Voice comms
- Bringing a key
- Bringing multiple toolboxes & BNPs
They EARN their 4E, but Killers are 'sweats' and 'tryhards' if they don't give 4th Survivor the gate or hatch. Because doing a 4K is 'sweat' and 'toxic'.
Pure Survivor main BS entitlement.
6 -
Yeah I keep thinking there should be a "Fast matchmaking" and a "Ranking".
0 -
I feel there should be a non-ranked, and ranked mode. That way all the sweaty survivors, and sweaty killers can have at it. Because if they are are really sweaty then I would assume they would care about their ranks, so they would play ranked to stay at rank 1.
1 -
Yeah your both in the wrong in this situation
0 -
way too many people in general, not just killers
