Do you guys get excited about the new tomes?

Idk why but for some reason I really love the tomes. Something about working towards getting a lot of year-long exclusive items really gets me motivated to play. I also look forward to the next tome because it's like new content for me.

So how do you see the rift? Is it exciting or just another battle pass that you don't care about?

I don't care for the rifts honestly they are pretty bad the only one I liked was the very first Halloween one

    I do. I love them.

For me its not worth the time and the reward are really bad. You can have the same ugly charm but in 7 colirs just give me 1 bp and this is already better XD

Not at all. Paying money for a handful of charms doesn't exactly float my boat.

Why would it? It's a boring disaster which demands your hard-earned cash every time it comes around. The game hardly even functions as it is. So no, why would it?

Yeah, I enjoy the rift/tomes too. It really motivates me. The grind is fun. The whole bunch of new content that comes along with it too is interesting.

I mean you get some free stuff anyway. Like the only Bill outfit lol.

some of the best cosmetic pieces to wear for my mains have come from them, so yes.

I feel a need to finish the challenges, and I like earning Bloodpoints for them. I cycle the same Auric Cells through every Rift, and I'll only purchase it if I reach the end. I hate the way the lore is written, so I don't bother with that. But yeah, the challenges give me something to do in the game, a goal that feels concrete, and I like that.

It isn't exactly 'free' when it demands your time and gives a simple-as-can-be reward...

  • GrimoireWeiss
    GrimoireWeiss Member Posts: 1,452

Yes. They are my only way of getting skins as I only have 1100 aurics and don't plan on buying more.

  • Gaffy
    Gaffy Member Posts: 222

For exclusive items absolutely, especially when the lore is about the characters I play and enjoy the original backstories for. The challenges are usually terribly designed unfortunately but they're usually fun.

    glitchboi Member Posts: 6,023

Yeah, the rest of the premium passes are free if you constantly complete them, and encourage me to play! Most of the cosmetics and charms genuinely look awesome. I just wish they'd reward iri shards.

    Also I love the lore.

    Warcrafter4 Member Posts: 2,917

I am mainly only excited by them if the free track has anything of any value on it.

Given that there's no reason to buy the premium track early, So I genuinely have no reason to look at it until I completed the free track.

Kind of. I like most of the cosmetics and lore that comes with each rift and trying to complete challenges/unlocking lore kind of motivates me to play the game more.

    JHondo Member Posts: 1,174

I really enjoy it for the lore and it gives a different kind of grind that simultaneously eases the main grind with the BP awarded for completing challenges.

Personally I play the game on average 2 hours a day and complete the rift with a week or two remaining every time.

I like having things to do in the game so yeah I like when new tomes release. Would I use the word "excited"? Probably not, but I still like when the game gives me something to do.

I’m like you, OP- I get excited for them. I’m glad we are getting them more often now. I’m big on cosmetics and charms, so this is right up my alley. I appreciate the additional BP for completing challenges as well.

Yes, I like to have something to do other than normal gameplay. Also, the extra BPs are always welcome.

The Rift is nice, I mostly dont need anything. But I use some Rift Outfits (like Onis Outfits from his Tome), which I would have bought anyway probably.

Tomes = points. And that's pretty much it for me. Nothing to be excited for.

  • Bwsted
    Bwsted Member Posts: 3,452

90% of the stuff is just re-skinned inventory clutter.

Half of the challenges are poorly designed and require to play annoyingly for yourself, the other side, and/or your teammates.

The lore is extremely repetitive and it boils down to stereotypical kids with daddy issues, generic sjw virtue signaling and unoriginal cultist plots.

    TL;DR I don't care for the tome.

I like the bps but i couldn't care less about the cosmetics or charms

  • Hurdled

I usually only participate in the tomes if there's something for me to earn for Kate, and if I remember. This was the first tome I actually really tried at, albeit like, 3 weeks before it closed. Still, I enjoyed it, but I agree with Bwsted, the challenges can be super annoying to do solo queue. They sometimes steer you into playing really poorly, or in a counter-intuitive manner for the match, etc. I have had them push me to try new stuff though, so it's not all bad.

tl:dr - I am looking forward to this new one, although I have no idea what's in it. I like the bonus BP and at least some of the challenges keep it fresh.

Yes, i like getting new lore and a lot of outfits for the price of one. I completed every rift until now.

    EntitySpawn Member Posts: 4,233

Yes, 1k auric cells (which you get back) for a huge amount of cosmetics etc is nice, the encouragement of different perks along side the bonus BP is great! I just wish they fixed bugs such as clown who's the next tome, they haven't even acknowledged it

It really depends on the character focus and the cosmetics in the Rift. If it has some really cool stuff, then I'm interested. (Like the Kendo Spirit Skin, the Julie Flannel Skin, Flaming Wraith, Spaceman Jake.) If it's mostly recolors, then not really. (Like the Hillbilly pants that were pretty much just recolored default pants. If that.)

I do like the challenges though and how they encourage switching up builds, playstyles, and Killers for both sides. There's also a handful of charms I've really liked from the Rift. (Stuffed Crow and the Claudette Charm are still some of my favourites to equip.)

I also like the lore they give a lot of them to some degree. (I think some can be better in some areas though, and some like Legions I don't touch with a 5-Foot pole.) I'm also excited for some of the new stuff that's been leaked to be coming for upcoming rifts, so I'm definitely alright with them.

I do wish Glyphs didn't debuff you though as Survivor, and some challenges are kinda needlessly hard on Killer. (Like the one where you have to hit two people with one use of Corrupt Purge as Plague, twice in one match is kinda insane...)

Yeah, I kind of like the system in DBD. Usually these Battlepass systems I just ignore, but I grinded the last one out despite starting super late. I do not even own Plague or Kate, but decided to just spend the 10 dollars for the future when I get them, and obviously that 10 will go towards this Clown one, I do not own him either, and doubt I will own the survivor unless it is Nancy, rofl.

Either way, I love the sense of progression. Especially because this game doesn't record hours. So, you know, besides your account level, this is all I have, pretty much.

Not at all really. But I can see people being excited for new content.

Only new content that would make me excited is either nerf or perk grind or optimization of the game. None of which will ever happen

Would be better if they didn't just give out the rift cosmetics in the shop later :/

  • Hex_Llama
    Hex_Llama Member Posts: 1,846

I get excited at the start, because I like to get cosmetics. About half way through the grind, though, I'm like, "Oh, yeah. I remember how brutal it is now," and it becomes a thing where I have to do my videogame chores whether or not I want to.

I have huge FOMO about it, because I missed the first few rifts, which were really good.

Not really. It's kind of neat seeing the rift cosmetics, but nothing to get my heart pumping.

I don’t get excited for them but I do enjoy the challenges. I think if we didn’t have the tomes I’d have dropped this game, it gets quite stale when they are complete.

I've been playing for close to 4 years ago and only 3 weeks ago did I complete my first tome at L4. I completed another last night 🤣 I start them and get to L2 before I start to fall behind. I don't play hours and hours per day and I play both sides so it takes twice as long for me to compete lol.

When does the next one start?
