Something needs to be done about DCing to give player hatch
Aside from the standard 3 minute timeout. Been seeing it for a long time now.

The dc penalty time continues to stack if people continue to do it. I don't know what they can do about it in a way that doesn't let survivors troll each other. Get downed and you're pissed that the blendette is hiding near hatch? DC so the killer has even more time to find her.

Does it though? Is it really a big deal if you get a 3k or a 4k? The game would be much better if the killer didn’t slug for 10 minutes to get a 4k
43 -
I never slug for 4K. It is boring. If i have not challange or adept try, i am just hooking. And if you are slugging people, you have to take risks. If they are SWF, one of them will dc and other will escape with hatch. And you lost 2 kills. Risk is yours and i do not think this needs to change
11 -
Yes, because it's cheating. You claiming a Killer should not try for the 4K or, the usual Survivor BS 'Be happy with the 3K' is beside the point.
The hatch should not open, if the DC would open it. The remaining Survivors will need a key, or need to pop a gen. That simple; DC can't open hatch.
27 -
And holding the game hostage is also against the rules, but it doesn’t stop most killers from doubling the time the game should be
22 -
They need to replace players who disconnect with bots. Back in the day, they said they were looking into disconnected survivors leaving behind a "husk," but now that they're actually adding bots to the game they should make use of them.

What does holding the game hostage have to do with DCing for hatch?
Oh, were you trying to imply that slugging 'holds the game hostage', simply because you dislike the tactic or, heaven forbid, a Killer do it to try finding the 4th Survivor. How adorable!
You pretend a Killer using mechanics to attempt to kill a Survivor is somehow against the rules, like all Survivor mains! How cute. 🙄
I know, I know; Killers should NEVER go for 4 Kills! It's 'sweaty' and 'tryhard' and 'whatever other BS Survivors invent to whine about'! They should ALWAYS let the 4th Survivor go! Funny has it never works in reverse; Survivors are never 'supposed to' give Killers a kill instead of escaping.
But back on point, before you tried to throw a false equivalency in there; DCing for hatch is cheating. Slugging is not. Oh well! 😂
23 -
The person that DCs loses all their points, item, and offering. The way I see it, if they DC for Hatch, you've already won. Not a big deal.
9 -
How dare people try to win?
Is it really a big deal if Survivors don't get to open the Exit Gates? Like, the game would be so much better if Survivors didn't try to win.
Your conclusion is correct but your argument is weak.
20 -
No, they can try go for the 4k, but they can do so without leaving someone bleeding out on the floor for half an hour. Had a game today where I was slugged about 4 separate times when there two of us left, at a certain point just hook one person.
5 -
3k is still a win objectively, the difference between 3 kills and 4 is so minuscule that leaving someone bleeding out to kill everyone is pretty pointless and petty.
15 -
the dc penalty is sufficient punishment enough in my opinion. its always boring getting to just sit there until you die though. thats why i never slug for the 4k its terribly boring and about 80% of the time i find the hatch first anyways so who really cares. i think people forget this is just a video game sometimes.
5 -
Not sure what you want me to say. I mean, they wanted the 4K. They did not have to ask your permission for how they got it. And they did not hold the game hostage. 🤷♂️
Maybe, if the hatch did not open with 1 Survivor left regardless of gens done, Killers would not need to camp to try for 4Ks. It sucks, but the mechanics of the game almost force Killers to slug for a 4K, since the hatch is a giant middle finger.
12 -
That just opens for an entirely new way for survivors to screw other survivors over though.
The last survivor didn't try to save them when it's a bad move to even try to do so in every way imaginable? DC so they can't get hatch. Last survivor had absolutely no influence on the disconnecting survivor's decision and isn't responsible for it whatsoever, the only way they can possibly safeguard themselves from that happening is to never play survivor outside of a 4man SWF again.
7 -
to hear some certain people talk thats all they fight anyways. memes aside i agree this could open up more problems.
1 -
You are right but hatch mechanic can not change lol. Hatch will open for last survivor. If you are slugging for 4K, you are taking risk.
But dc penalties have to be more punisher. Then people will stop dc. Hatch can not change but this can change.
Don't offense but how you are slugging? I really found it so boring. Because other survivor is hiding somewhere. And makes game longer. And i hate this. Ofcourse this is just for me.
0 -
Not to me.
There is no defined win condition.
Some people think a 2K is a win. Some think 3K, some 4K.
Others think a pip is a win.
A treasured few believe that they win so long as they have fun.

Honestly, I wish the Devs would remove the hatch entirely since it's artificially lowering the already astronomical high kill rates of Killers and maybe we'd see some killer nerfs across the board.
5 -
The kill is basically ours. Why do we have to forfeit it so that the last survivor can get a free escape?
4 -
Sarcasm?
2 -
Pfft are you joking??? Every other player I face playing as killer is a sorry sack of crap that does all manner of cheap stuff to get a 4k and the wort part is the game don't even punish them for doing it... Some of you will say "Ya but they lost on blood points" sorry but losing out on like 50 blood points isn't going to deter any of the s$#&bags that want their easy kills... Camp a hook till death and you'll get a 4k almost every time and with the right perks that becomes a definite. It would be nice if the killer had to do little more than scratch their ass to out do all four survivors in blood points and get a sweeping victory... I've been a lvl 1 survivor many times so before anyone opens their ignorant mouth and says "get good scrub" I know how to play. It's so easy to play as killer that I get bored and actively let survivors get objectives done just so it's not so one sided... And I wouldn't even say I'm a great killer either and 9 out of 10 games I'll kill all of them most without even trying, and the rest all I have to do is play cheap for a little bit till the match is in my favor then coast it in for another 4k. If you don't think that's the case as killer then you probably suck not just at this game but all games in general. Add some serious penalties for the cheapness or it will never change.

Bleedout timer is 4 mins. Just saying.
1 -
This is really a non-issue. Yes, it happens. Yes, it is annoying.
But it is not really worth to invest time into this, given how rarely it happens. And if a SWF is pulling that off, they will all be on the DC-Penalty (if it is enabled).
It will not happen on a regular basis that the same person will give up all their points they got this round AND increase their DC-Penalty, just to give someone Hatch.
While in a perfect world this would be fixed, IMO BHVR has other, more important issues to solve.
5 -
So the game doesn’t last 30 minutes, it’s silly
4 -
Stops every time you get picked up and chased by the killer till you’re down again.
3 -
Didn't BHVR say this was an exploit until they implemented a DC Penalty?
Pretty sure it should still be considered one since it's an unintended consequence of disconnecting giving the last Survivor a major advantage.
0 -
i would say something else....something needs to be done about the slug timer. Why the hell is it even 4 minutes long? Its fine if the killer wants to go for a 4k. But i am not gonna spend 4 minutes staring at a screen doing nothing. And what do you gain from a 4k instead of a 3k? Absolutely nothing. Its just very sweaty. Killer decides to slug, i decide to play the next game. That ez.
4 -
There should be a give up button for the slugged survivor when there is one survivor left.
3 -
Or just in general. Just make it like hooks. I can attempt to stand, if I fail, bleed me out more. If I stand, voila.
3 -
That's a hatch problem though... The killer is just adapting to the hatch mechanic. Is it boring? Sure, but your frustration in my opinion is directed to the wrong people.
2 -
Tell that to the archive challenges that state all 4 survivors must die
5 -
do you really need a escape? This game would be much better if the last survivors wouldnt hide 20 minutes to battle out for the hatch.
9 -
Something needs to be done with the hatch standoff when 2 players remain.
0 -
Ehm they don't exist anymore since killer can close hatch and no longer grab survivor out of the hatch?
I guess you mean the hatch hide and seek or something when the killer does not close the hatch and the last survivor opts for stealth or the last to survivor try to out immerse each other.
0 -
I meant 2 survivors, sorry.
0 -
Yeah that's still ultra annoying and something like afk notification after not doing anything but crouching and hiding for 5+ minutes would be helpful.
Something like if the don't do gen progress worth of several seconds non stop for 5+minutes, they get the afk crows or something.
0 -
Hoping DCers will be replaced by bots someday.
The bots are better then half the playerbase anyway
4 -
I only slug if the last survivor is in my line of sight when I pick up the third survivor to sacrifice. I mean, if the survivor is daring enough to show his face to me when he should be concerned about hiding and securing the hatch, then he deserves to be sacrificed, even if it means leaving the third survivor in slugged state.
0 -
Yes, because slug for the 4k is totally fine
0 -
I think that's totally fine. The problem is when the game is extended 5 to 10 extra minutes because the killer is trying to get a 4k and doesn't know where the last survivor is.
I use to go and try and rescue the slugged survivor until I realized it just meant both of us are getting killed. It's better as survivor to let the slugged survivor just bleed out on the ground in 4 minutes than rescue the survivor over and over and over again and then both of you get killed.
And when I play survivor, I'm the type to suicide on hook when there is only 2 survivors and 2 or more gens so the other can get the hatch.
3 -
Slugging isnt holding the game hostage. The downed survivors life is slowly ticking down. Therefore nothing is being held hostage. Nor is slugging against the rules.
6 -
Moot point as I never do that. Escaping is the same as 3k, which is the same as 4k, they are all equal.
0 -
You could not slug and just showdown for the hatch as intended?
0 -
No its not. Not everyone plays for points, pips or whatever.
There are people that play to kill or to escape.
For me, it depends. If i play killer, i play to killer. I still give the last one the hatch if he DESERVES it and if he was NOT toxic.
Otherwise i leave anyone on the ground until i get the hatch to kill everyone.
For survivors my goal is to let everyone else escaping and i will gladly sacrifice myself if needed. (Always solo q tho)
1 -
That screams 4-Man team who just doesn't want to chill.
0 -
You know what, just add a 20-minute match limit. It works for Friday the 13th.
0 -
i think its a fair exchange, they dont get BP or any progress on their challenge. Hatch is sometimes the only thing that gives you hope in solo Q
0 -
The survivor that does it is awarded no points (while everyone still in the match is) and takes a penalty. They're basically taking one for the team at that point. What more do you want? At least it's being used to benefit their team and not to rage quit.
0 -
It's being used to cheat the Killer; he does not get his hook kill on the DCer. He now can't hunt for the Survivor given the hatch, either.
It's not some altruistic action to nobly sacrifice themselves for one player. It's a deliberate middle finger to cheat the Killer out of points and, possibly 2 full Kills.
3 -
I'd say in a situation where they're being carried to basement on first down and they DC, it's deliberately to screw everyone over. But in this situation, it just sounds like a way to give another survivor hatch without having to wait. Basically a key that requires that they lose everything in the process. The killer still gets points and the remaining survivor still gets points.
Essentially all you can really do is punish people harder for DCing, which happens on accident sometimes, or remove DCing altogether which is sometimes a necessary failsafe if the match is being held hostage or if a game breaking glitch occurs.
