I’m getting fed up with the contextual action button 🤬
I just had a Claire waiting in a pallet to be healed after I unhooked her. No matter how I tried to position myself or adjust the camera the only prompt was to pull the pallet down. Finally “heal” appeared, but nope, the moment I went to heal her the prompt immediately switched back “drop pallet”.
For Christ sake, whether on console or PC we have a TON of buttons. BHVR, please map some actions to them!!!

It's worse if you have self care equipped or happen to have a deep wound on you

Do not heal at pallet, but near it. The last skill check will cost you a pallet. Happened 4 times and I never do it again.
Sounds stupid but thats the reason why this game has so many fun moment. Trying to vault window but get into locker instead for example.

It was out of my control where this Claire decided she wanted to be healed.

If it was me i would have just went back to my gen and let them find there own way to heal. If they really wanted heals that bad they would've followed you.

I was squirming all over the hatch and I couldn't get anything but the "recover" prompt to appear. Then the killer closed it.
We definitely need more key binding options. I have it so that the button to heal isn't the same as the button to throw down a pallet. It can mess me up sometimes, though, because having the button to throw down a pallet be "square" means that the button to vault a window is "square." But vaulting is only "square" when I play survivor; it's still R1 when I play killer, because that's the better button to use for vaulting. Ugh, I hate that. We should be able to be a lot more specific about our key bindings.

Especially when you tier 3 against doc and want to snap out under a pallet for safety

I'm guessing this is a console issue, because the buttons for "drop pallet" and "snap out of it" aren't even on the same device if you're using a mouse and keyboard.

Yeah, I play on Xbox one we only got interaction, use item, and active ability button in the control options but interaction button is basically the same for working on gens, using pallets, snapping out etc… all for one button. Literally have to wait 5 second for the prompt to change to snap out of it from drop pallet or vault window

pretty sure that for me the mouseclick is dropping the pallet and spacebar is healing, but I changed it a bit

Once I lined up a fast vault into shack and... stopped dead to pick up a grey toolbox. Thanks Franklin.

Spacebar for vaulting, dropping pallets, jumping in lockers, and skill checks, M1 for everything else.

I changed that around, I think a mouseclick is much faster and more accurate for skillchecks.
I hit skillchecks with m1, vault with m1, heal with spacebar and work on a gen with spacebar, iirc

My favorite is sabotaging the hook when you are trying to heal someone you just unhooked. I better stop using Sabo+We'll Make It builds.

I think it is possible to change the button, I'm not sure but I think it is.
Yeah it is really dumb that controller players have the same button for a lot of things.
I usually say "when a console gamer wants to help you (heal and stuff) make sure you do it away from a pallet" because it is really dumb that R1 or RB does everything.

Do you know you can remap the buttons? If you are on console with a controller L3 and R3 buttons could be used and for sure will help a lot.

Unfortunately you can't. On the controls settings everything is tied under "actions", you don't have specific ones for healing, dropping pallets, vaulting, etc.
0 -
You can, because I did. R1 for pallets and windows (actions) and Square for healing, doing generators, totems, escaping through hatch (interactions).

I was trying to disable trap under a pallet and was very careful to position myself to be able to do it.
Spoiler alert: I pressed the button when the promnt says disable trap and my survivor was caught in a trap since she tried to drop the pallet instead anyways
0 -
Okay, how did you do it? Because on my settings I see everything tied under "actions". Although I must admit it has been quite some time I tried changing this.

Just change the action key in the controls. I changed mine to Square on the controller.

The controls with that get really annoying. I've tried remapping but it's too weird, so I've altered the way I play instead.
0 -
Well you still disarmed the trap, you just did it with your foot.

This same thing happened to me too! I had a friendly Spirit who carried me to the hatch, and it took a good 5 seconds of crawling all over it to get the prompt to enter it instead of recover. Just another wonderful frustration that DBD has to offer.😕

Same thing happened to me the upset levels are real. Also don't have selfcare and try to unhook you might selfcare 3 times in a row.

You can change them. I have square as my drop pallet/vault button.
1 -
You can change the button in the control settings. Actions (pallets, vaults, lockers) can be set to a different button from interactions (healing, repairing, cleansing, unhooking, etc.) They should default them to different buttons instead of same but atleast you can change them.

I had the same thing the other night. Killer was clearly getting irritated. I'm bro I'm trying.
0 -
I had that happen to me. Killer was giving me hatch so I wiggled a thanks instead of just crawling in, after I wiggled I couldn't get the prompt to enter hatch, only recover. I think killer noticed I was having trouble as I was crawling around hatch instead of leaving. They were extra nice - closed hatch, I popped up from adrenaline and they let me open/exit through gate.

Change the key under "pick up item/interactions" to Square, so you'll heal with it.
0 -
I think they should have two different buttons for pick up item and interactions and then make a third button for healing.
0 -
I wish they'd separate pick up item and interactions, I'd be fine if pick up/drop were same button. So many times in basement if someone with item died on a hook and killer hooks another survivor on same hook it screws up the unhook because the prompt for pick up item will show instead of unhook survivor.
0 -
Yeah, I'd be ok with combining pick up item/drop item. Then you only need to add 1 more button to separate healing out of interactions so you don't self care accidentally when trying to unhook.

If they lessened the self care priority compared to everything else that would fix the issue of it popping up anytime you try to do anything else. I feel like they raised its priority around the Twins release and it just screws up everything.

I just read the patch notes and they said they have made unhook priority over self care now with the mid chapter release. Hopefully this fixes it.

Hopefully it lessens self care priority for everything else too. Nothing like trying to grab medkit out of chest to heal faster but self care prompt keeps popping up instead of pick up item. 🤦♀️

I got stung 3 times in a row once at a pallet with a locker next to it. Wraith must have been wondering what on earth I was doing 😅
As a downed survivor though, I place myself right in front of the vault and almost poking through it. Every so often a killer steps over me 🤣 or spends another 3 or 4 seconds trying to find 'pick up' 😏

Samesies. I'm on an x-box controller and I had to switch the key bindings so actions and interactions are different keys -- while there's literally nothing in the game that tells you what actions and interactions are defined as. But literally all of my key bindings are different because I hated the default setup.
For situations where you still get the wrong prompt, such as self-care, the thing that works best for me is to run at the thing I'm trying to interact with -- so just, like, press up against it and keep pushing the joystick forward -- and then hit the button while running. Works to grab things out of chests -- used to work for unhooks. Super annoying, but it suppresses self-care from taking over.
