Midchapter update did nothing to fix framerate drops, lags and freezes on consoles.

The framerate drops, lags and freezes are very much still present for console players (PS4 and Xbox One particularly) and in some cases worse. This Midchapter update did nothing to fix it and the fact that its been almost two months of this game being broken in many ways, it's beyond ridiculous. What's worse is that you're lying to your player base in saying that the patch has fixed issues with framerates when one only has to play a couple matches to realize that it clearly hasn't. You've just polished around it with more graphical updates, small bug fixes that don't affect gameplay and are still cranking out cosmetics with your graphics department, asking for more money.

Because of the amount of money we players have spent on this game, including a DLC that has rendered console players to have a faulty product, a lawsuit against your company should be the next step, as there is totally grounds for one at this point.

I'm on day one release ps4 and I'm having no issues besides a bit of lag but that's the internet not the game.

Interesting especially since I've talked to at least 8 or 9 people since I've made this post that have all experienced the same thing as myself.

Dude, it's not my PS4. I play games on it that are far more involved than DbD and have no issues whatsoever.

Could be manufacturing difference. If you have a model manufactured in 2013, but LiunUK has a model manufactured in 2015, even though they are sold as the same product, they are definitely not. The later models have a better OS, often better hardware(performance wise, it's essentially the same, but if you're going to compare, it's gonna be different).

Let alone that companies are known to artificially make your products worse so you'd send them in for a replacement.

The only way to guarantee better performance on earlier models is to reset to factory settings, then update to the latest version, then re-install your games.

It could easily be a combination of artificial obsolesence put into your device and DBD's general code. Make sure to rule out one before you blame the other.

    I hate this question.

This isn't directed at you, sorry, I just want to vent for a moment. Sony designed the PS4 to stay closed. They are such [BAD WORD]s for that, because electronics do need to be cleaned: the dust builds up inside, it's inevitable. And sometimes thermal paste needs to be replaced. But Sony was like, "No, [BAD WORD] you," to its customers. ffs.

I have a Battlefront II edition PS4 Pro, and I've never opened it up. I don't know how to do it safely. It wasn't designed to be opened up, and that is really [BAD WORD]ing annoying. [BAD WORD]ing Sony.

I will say, though, DbD is the only game that turns my PS4 into a jet engine. The fog effects specifically. It's so dumb to hear the fans get loud on the killer and survivor selection pages. They're menu screens, they don't need special effects that tax the system! The fans are loudest on the main menu where it's all "press x to continue." I'm afraid to leave it on that screen because I worry my PS4 will actually overheat.

The fog effects in-game looks so bad, too, like that stupid rolling black fog on the corn maps that adds nothing to the aesthetic. The ground looks like it's intermittently smoking, but in a really dumb way, like the smoke is confused about its own physics.

I play on a PS4 Slim and the game DEFINITELY has improved. There's still a lot to be done, but it's impossible to deny it did fix a lot of the frame rate issues.

Do you play both sides though? As killer it has hardly improved. There's framerate drops in every chase. As survivor the framerate drops are not as bad but when too many players are close by you, it's as if they didn't fix anything at all. Also there's freezes on opening chests and cleansing totems when someone is nearby and stuttering when unhooking.

I’m on Xbox one and I don’t see a difference since update

Yes, I play both sides, mostly killer in fact. The only consistent freeze I have is when a survivor uses Dead Hard, and even this one has been significantly shorter compared to how it was after RE patch and even before that. I'd say since 2019 I haven't had such a good performance.

I'm seeing some improvement, but it is clear that the underlying issues are still present.
