is it just a coincidence or ...
why do I feel like my killer anti-looping/hunting skills have skyrocketed since the removal of "mods"?
Comments
-
just a coincidence, I dont think running around as SpongeBob gave much of an advantage
15 -
Yes but a lot of them just removed chase music meant to silence the other side's chase noises.
Along with turning for example stealth killers Neon Pink so they can always see them from a distance.
I doubt most modders did that but...There are always bad apples that ruin it for everyone.
9 -
From what Ive seen, theres only a very small portion of the playerbase who did it and I highly doubt many of them did it to gain an advantage, not enough anyway to see a difference in gameplay
3 -
Given how many people use stretched resolution and shaders to get an advantage in game...
I think its A LOT MORE then you'd think.
20 -
The amount of people willing to change their desktop resolution before launching the game or using an application made by the people behind their GPU driver is gonna be way higher than the amount of people willing to actually make changes to the game's install directory.
Especially when BHVR has done their best to make it clear that all file modification is in a greyzone where if they get banned they're screwed with no chance of appeal, no matter how likely or unlikely it is that they'll ever get "caught" for it.
1 -
Even then people who use those methods are still a VERY small percentage of the playerbase.
So no, its not that bad at all. Besides stretched res is not NEARLY as much of an advantage as people make it out to be.
1 -
Its been proven repeatedly that stretched rez can make several tiles completely safe and un-mindgamable.
The competative teams wouldn't have every single member doing it if it didn't give a noticeable advantage.
I am going to guess that you use stretched rez?
5 -
Well what a coincidence, my survivor looping/evading skills have skyrocketed since the removal of "mods" as well.
5 -
i guess then it has something to do with the "mods" ;)
1 -
No, I dont use stretched res, but comparing comp teams using it literally makes no sense. They are going to do every little thing thatll give them the slightest advantage because theyre literally playing for money
I also never said that it doesnt give an advantage, it does, but its so tiny it might as well not even be one, its like saying some one with a 144hz monitor has an advantage over some one with a 120hz. Is it? yes, but its tiny af.
Also think about it, what tiles become safe simply because theyre using stretched res? Jungle Gyms? T-L walls? Long Short Walls? Every single generic tile is safe for a survivor if they play it smart, stretched res doesnt change that
2 -
Don’t really care if it’s only a small percentage of the player base, I’m perfectly happy with no one having mods.
6 -
Most generic tiles become safe, and while good survivors can loop most anyway being able to see killers over the loop removes all mind-games and moon-walking the killer can do. It essentially removes all skill a survivor needs and just makes it boil down to running in a circle till the killer makes you throw a pallet.
It also increases the strength of some already strong loops for really great survivors so they always get maximum value/time wasted out of a loop.
1 -
Not.. necessarily, have you ever seen a match fully played out of some one using stretched? Its not like they have wall hacks, there are maybe a handful of loops where it actually makes a difference, but the majority of them were already safe to begin with.
0 -
You can see the killer over generic loops already. Not L/T walls and not jungle gyms but I don’t think stretched will let you see over those, correct me if I’m wrong. But for the generic pallet tiles like the hay bales on Coldwind, you don’t need stretched res. You just angle your camera down slightly and see the killer’s head and therefore which direction they’re looking and moving.

Yeah, probably a coincidence. Maybe a little confirmation bias too.

Stretched res isn't even a mod is it?
Just because someone on twitter deleted music doesn't mean the majority of people were doing that. Most were just making custom cosmetics and using music from other IPs in place of the chase music, some of it more busy than the music already in place.
Idk why people are so paranoid about it lol

Yeah I have seen people use stretch res and it typically turns a lot of moderately safe jungle gyms into safer versions of the really low loops you see on maps like autohaven that you can see over the whole time. Killers can still get hits on survivors if they bloodlust or if the survivor messes up, but with how much safer jungle gyms are it will take a good while.
Not every loop is safe with stretched res but it provides enough of a significant advantage that even some streamers make their streams look like ######### to get the effect.

There was also a mod that turned bear traps/Hag traps pink so you never had to worry about them.
There's always a group of people that take it too far looking for actual gameplay advantages and ruin it for everyone else. I will admit, seeing Spongebob or even AmongUs characters in this game was funny as hell.

Yes you can see over those kinds of loops. Same with short loops on autohaven maps around cars. Stretched res does not really benefit people on these kinds of loops.
Stretched res can provide you some benefits on some jungle gyms that allow survivors a similar effect to the loops mentioned above, but typically on a stronger tile. Also, it can allow you to see shorter killers on loops you usually could not.

You are naive if you really believe that.

It doesn't matter whether or not a lot of people were doing it at the time. Leaving a huge hole where people can cheat and cheat 'safer' is still pretty silly. The last thing you ever want to do (unless there is no option otherwise) is leave it to good faith and hope people aren't doing things they aren't supposed to be doing.
The most we can do now is hope that they hire some team to greenlight mods, but I doubt it.

Oh yeah I forgot, all people on these forums ever go against are top of the line SWF
my b
0 -
What does that have to do with SWF?
I dont care for SWF.
0 -
I understand why they did it, it's just that I keep seeing people on the boards really overreact about the whole thing. Like it was a big cheating conspiracy akin to making a trainer, whereas the majority were doing harmless mods like the aforementioned Spongebob mod. lol
0 -
Because thats all people go against on these forums right? Top tier sweaty swf who make sure the killer experience is miserable, meaning they use every little thing to gain the upperhand.
In that case 100% of the playerbase uses stretched res, my mistake
0 -
What is "mods"?

It's weird, cause I feel this way too. At least on the survivor side. I faced two nurses today, and ran them both for a bit. One didn't even manage to hook me (though the gates spawned together, so I died to end game collapse because my teammates kept going down). Usually those nurses would've probably destroyed me.

Nowhere i said 100% uses stretched res and nowhere i complained going against SWFs too often but there are still TONS of people using stretched res and thats a problem.
Even if it would be only 1% it would be a problem.

God its so cute how literal some people take some messages
I agree that it is an issue and that it should be fixed, but its no where near as big a problem as people make it out to be. Some people are acting like its the only reason why they're losing games.
There are much bigger issues that need to be addressed
