RPD isn't that bad

GannTM Member Posts: 10,887

Now this is just my opinion. I understand why people don't like the map because it is big and has a confusing layout. However, as someone who loves Resident Evil, I absolutely love the map so far. Resident Evil 2 remake is near the top of my favorite games ever and the time I have spent on that game has helped me with learning the layout of RPD.

So far, since the midchapter came out, I've played on the map 4 times as killer and have 4ked in all of them. I've done it as Wraith, Blight, Deathslinger, and Pig in that order.

seems to depend on the person really. i love re2 but most of the killers i like playing are far more difficult on it. legion's power just isn't usable because of how much extra distance is made from the layout of the map.

I love the map too, as it’s pretty much like the RPD in RE2 but I can see why it can be unfair for some killers.

For example the east office has a window that’s pretty much an “infinite” if run the right way. The observation/interrogation room window is also pretty safe which allows you to waste the killer’s time.

I have noticed that infinite. Hopefully they fix that soon.

Okay. That doesn't change the fact that it is, due to it's effect size alone, the most survivor-sided map in the game by an enormous margin.

And that's just because of the size and all the limitations that comes with. That's without looking at the fact that it's an indoor map, it's hook spawns are atrocious, and every resource is either god-tier or not worth mentioning.

That map is ######### huge. All survivors have to to is spread out an you cannot do a thing to stop the gens (and by that I primarily mean snowballing) even if they don't run away. There's just too much distance to cover. I've played that map 4-5 times so far and only 2 people have died. One was me getting tombstone pieced by a Myers just as the gates were getting powered, the other was a Claudette that got facecamped in the endgame collapse.

I view that map as the unholy love child of Old Rotten Fields, Haddonfield, and The Game. Sure, it looks pretty, but it's just got so many crazy issues because of it's base design.

I get why people don't like it.

But it's honestly kind of hilarious how fans like us adapt so quickly and everyone else hates it lol I guess it only goes to show how good it is in terms of design as a maze.

I’m not sure why but when I play on the map, it just doesn’t feel big to me. I know the map so well which is part of the reason.

    Same.

That is a problem with people not knowing the map. Which hasn't been a problem in my trials because people don't scurry and sneak about in AU, they just run around and sit on gens.

The map isn't that confusing to the point of letting ppl hit Struggle, is the distance it takes to get there. I just played it for the first time, had no issue at all with getting to hooks.

Playing trickster on this map feels impossible

It's not a matter of how it feels, it's a matter of how long it takes to traverse. Mother's Dwelling feels bigger to me, but I've seen the traversal times.

I hate the map as any killer except Demo. The hallways aren't big enough to dodge a Shred so it's like a party in there for me

I like the map, I just have no idea where the stairs are.

It's an infinite on most Killers, so far as I can tell.

I dared to play Huntress the other day, and let me tell you, you will never catch up at that loop.

I love almost everything about the map. RE2 Remake is my favorite game ever. Super special. Right under it is RE4. The ONLY problem I have with it is the orange mutation bubbles. Just ugly. But I personally like the flow since I know how to navigate it. It feels really nice for me. I hope someday people will at least be fine with it and not hate it. I think at the end though once people get used to it they'll be fine.

I never really had an issue with the map since it came out on the PTB.

Not disagreeing with the fact it's huge though, it IS huge, but in my experience the map hasn't been that much of a problem.

Map is way too big and confusing to navigate for me. Even as a killer, I have a hard time finding my way to the generators despite being able to see where they all are.

Also I get a bunch of stuttering and frame loss on my PC when I play this map. I don't have that problem with other maps in the game.

I... I don't like it, but I don't hate it as I hated it the first times I had it.

The very first time was as Huntress. The only Killer match I've had in the map. It was fine to me, but the Survivors never unhooked each other and I've got the easiest 4K of my life. I was like, the hell no one saved...

Then I played it as a Survivor. No joke, I spent literally one minute looking for a way to go for a save. I had no idea where I was going to when I was chased, I spent the entire trial looking for generators.

Since, I've played it almost ten times. It's less hard now to find a generator, but I can't find a single totem. Best place to have Ruin! For the saves, it's slighty better as well, I'm less lost—but I'm someone you got lost pretty easily.

Play Blight or Hillbilly on RPD.

Not commenting on which side it favors, but is your argument seriously that its not Survivor sided because Survivors can't find anything? Is your memory erased after every match and you're perpetually stuck in a state of not knowing the map?

I know the map from the RE2 Remake and I have 0 of the problems you mentioned(aside from Totems, but that's normal for a lot of maps).

Lack of map knowledge has nothing to do with how "sided," the map is.

As much as I enjoy Resident Evil as a franchise and it being a welcoming addition to Dead By Daylight; the map needs a Rework of sorts..... it would be nice if they split the map in half or changes the flow of the game for Survivors! Need more objectives beside fixing gens! It very overwhelming for the average killer by the Sheer size of the map, the 4v1 and the pace of the game makes playing this map awful

Eh, it's a beautiful map but I really do not like it at all from a gameplay perspective.

It's a really good map. Most of the salt comes from unfamiliarity with the new map.

At least bhvr gives the licenses their own map, poor trickster didn't get one.

There really should have been a map. They could easily take an old map away from a given zone and rework it for a new neon zone , complete with new designs, objects with urban stuff. I mean they splooge out cosmetics regularly thinking it's lucrative, why can't they give the trickster his own zone and map?

Same goes for clown. They reworked him with useless addon, and he's got his tome right now showcasing how useless the antidote bottles are but no map. No, invading the nurses map doesn't count.

I mean sure everyone has their own taste but I would really like to know how you could enjoy this map a slightest as blight? xD

It's probably because most people don't know what's going on or how to traverse the map, similarly to Midwich when it was first released. I expect the coming months to have hardcore survivor mains praising the map and hardcore killer mains eating DC penalties just to avoid it.

I don't like the map, because I have such a hard time saving people. I can't find them. The map does LOOK cool though.

I don’t think I would bring a SWF there but for playing hide and seek with solo Q survivors it seems great. Could be my new favorite map
