Why do people with the most gateaux hoard them all?

CornHub

While the rest of the player base is starved for bp, why do people with thousands of hours in this game hoard their 50+ cakes? I've seen people who have 100+ cakes and plan to never use them or will occasionally use one just to remind people they have it. It's just greedy at this point having all those cakes & never planing to use them even with the bloodhunt coming up. Some people forget 4 other players were required to earn the bp to buy those cakes, so remember that the next time you queue up & use a survivor pudding/escape cake instead of a gateau.

Because when i play im always scare of a map offering and dont forget most of those cake are on character you dont play for survivor its fine because its all the same but for killer its hell because no killer is the same and if you have no slowdown perk tier 3 when you reach 40 its not worth it to play that over your main killer

Cause the 90 I have are all on Hag and I'd rather have them rot there than play her.

Besides me beiing quite a hoarder with everything including addons and items, I have no reason to use them once I've unlocked everything again after each chapter.

If I run out of party streamers or pudding but still need more BP to finish getting all perks on some character, I'll use my special cakes too but if I've unlocked everything then there's basically 0 benefit to use one.

I forget I have them, also, I make enough blood points for my needs without them. As survivor, I only play Claudette and run Plunderers, which gives me all the items I need. As killer, I mainly play Trapper with brown add-ons unless I suspect it’s a swf or if I see a map, then they get the bloody coil. I rarely play anyone else since the other killers I like to play are easily loopable and I’m not great at mind gaming (yes, I’m bad at the game).

And that's exactly my point, they don't have any but people with 100s are refusing to use them as some have stated in this thread.

The vast majority of my cakes are on my killers. If I sense a 3 or 4 man SWF, I don't use my cake; if I sense it's mostly solo queues, I use it.

In my experience, solo queues survivors are more likely to use cakes while people in SWFs are more likely to use oak offerings and murky reagents. Also I get more easily bullied by a SWF squad than otherwise so why use cakes on SWF's if im not likely to get much points.

When I play with randoms and bring cakes you know what happens? The survivors dc because <insert bullshit reason>. That's why I save them for when I play with friends.

I think I have OCD because when the events came around I just collected all of them as much as I could since I don't really have anything else to spend bloodpoints on anymore, sadly I didn't collect as many as last years event because of console issues made it not super fun, but I really enjoy collecting them. :)

I am not using them on solo. Teammates let me die on hook, Killers camp and tunnel the living **** out of me. I keep them for swf where I am usually guaranteed a lot of BP or for the double bp weekend.

On Killer I usually use them always, unless I get a few sweaty matches in a row then I go on selfish mode and use Puddings.

Don't feel like wasting cakes on Solo Queue.

Will use it if there is a Bloodhunt though.

All my cakes are on killer, not survivor, and trust me I use them.

People can do whatever they want with their items. If they don't want to share with randoms that is their deal.

I have more than 1000 five years anniversary cakes on my survivors but I use it only when I play with my SWF

Because i play mostly survivor, and need bloodpoints for nothing. 1 have 4 survivors at p3 with all perks at 3, and usually i dont bring items into the match, because i only play solo and you can never depend on your teammates anyway, so bringing them is usually a waste of time. so why should i bring a cake to give me points i dont need at the moment? I use my cakes when the next killer/survivor comes out to level him and then level the other chars for their perks.

Also, if everyone else is bringing a cake, killers tend to play more scummy than usually, and if you happen to be the target you get next to no points anyway. Better spread those bonus bp over several games when not everyone is bringing cakes.

They save them for double bp events.

Levelling up the survivors bloodweb seemed like a waste when they only got a cake every 2-3 bloodwebs. The few survivors ones I did get have all been used.

Edit: okay I didn't read the question properly.

Because every match I bring a BPS or a cake goes horrible. Either someone DCs, or I face the most toxic ######### in the earth who don't deserve points, or I just stomp the team and nobody makes a lot of points.

Honestly with the gross amount of DCs and the super unproductive playstyles some solo Q players have, it's more of a waste to burn them outside of your best killer and SWFs

  • Adeloo
    Adeloo Member Posts: 1,448

Well some are collectors and just want to keep them without using them, and it's their choice.

Others use them when playing in SWF or during Bloodhunt and it's their choice.

And even people choose to keep them for when they will need BP (release of a new chapter for example)

In the end you shouldn't be calling people out because they don't want to burn THEIR offering for YOUR benefit.

Well I cannot use multiple in one go, depends what build I'm doing, is there a new tome, is there players that look like they might be bad teammates.

And quite honestly I cba to award others, every time I use one or multiple are used people just play stupid and trade hooks constantly for fast points and leave you to die if you are hooked at the end, oh and dcs are a thing. So I shall hold onto my 400 5th year cakes till its back on.

It's not solely for my benefit. Its for the benefit of the community. They know the grind is atrocious yet they choose to hoard all the cakes. Think about the cakeless here

If you need bloodpoints use offerings, if not, dont. Its simple. In the last year i only used offerings when i prestiged the character.

I have close to 500 of the recent cakes spread out over survivor and killer (2/3 or so are on survivors).

I'm only using the cakes on survivors when I'm playing with at least one member of my SWF group. The match I had last night where the Dwight worked with the killer to get me killed (they had Bond, and led the killer right to me where I was hiding next to the gen I'd been working on) pointing me out and teabagging over me when I got downed) was a perfect example of why I don't trust random teammates. Giving a loser like that any BP bonus? Hell, no.

As far as killer goes, I'm reluctant to use them as well. I'm already getting extra BP if it's a killer I'm running BBQ on someone anyway. The last time I used a cake as killer -- on a killer I don't play often and am still trying to learn -- I got a 4-person SWF, all running BNP Commodius Toolboxes, who finished the gens so fast, you would have thought their actual lives depended on it (this was during the event, and it was a full 5-cake lobby). I got a few hooks, but the gens were still done in less than 5 minutes, I can't imagine anyone pipped up, and the BP totals were atrocious all around for everyone. But hey -- they did teabag me in the exit, so that was ... worth the essentially wasted cake offerings? Yeah -- no thanks.

I tried to play Pig during the event using a cake/BPS and tried to signal I was willing to farm in lobbies where there were 5 offerings -- the few times I tried to do so, not only was no one interested, but multiple times, I was greeted with BM'ing and the like (so those matches tended to go badly for the survivors, lol). I might have gotten one lobby that did so (and everyone likely pipped, and we all got monster BP totals). Why anyone would be overly antagonistic in that situation, I have no idea (if you don't want to farm, that's fine -- play out the match normally then), but enough times of that killed any desire I had as killer to spread any BP love. (Not that I saw that a lot during the event as survivor, either -- we saw more camping and tunneling in 5-cake lobbies in that short period of the event than I'd seen in the entire year prior combined).

Because I don't know how good or bad you are. Sometimes I'll use a cake for everyone but no one else will. Sometimes I'll use a cake and the game will have d/cs. Sometimes I'll use a cake and have a camping killer or who slugs everyone. Sometimes I'll use a cake and find out my teammates are just straight up, bad and can't stay alive even with people helping them. Eventually I get to the point of just bringing personals because why benefit others when there is so much uncertainty?

I don't SWF, I'm strictly a solo que player. I still use them but its a lot more rare now.

I keep cakes for two main reasons.

    1. I'm a collector, So I don't really like using cakes.
    2. When I actually do bother to bring cakes, 99% of the time the match ends up going horribly.

It's like asking someone going on a vacation to organize a party so that you can have a good time while they are gone.
