Why are survivors so toxic?

I played Clown today at rank 3 and the survivors brought Macmillan and I thought “hey that’s ok Macmillan isn’t that bad” but I was horribly wrong the survivors brought purple flashlights and odd bulbs then proceeded to flashlight save from almost every angle but I didn’t care that much until they jumped in lockers side by side and every time I grabbed one out of a locker the other survivors jumped out and flashlight saved. What should I have done? If I walked away they would have just done gens and if I came back they would have just jumped in the lockers again then they had the audacity to click their flashlights and teabag at exit gate, honestly I’m sick of playing killer because it feels like I’m going against sweaty teams that play like tournament squads every game and I like to play casually. I wish DBD would do something about the toxicity in this game on both sides killer and survivor

Well you seen them in the lobby with flashlights bring franklin's demise or back out and look for another match.

If you find a game is frustrating you because the other side is deliberately trolling you, just go AFK for a bit maybe

Pro-tip: go AFK facing a corner and then they can't farm you for flashlight blinds

I feel like you're taking this game too seriously, my dude.

The only toxicity in this game are douchebags, who write hateful comments, insults, slurs and harass people in post-game chat. They are truly toxic, but thankfully rarely do they appear. Clickity-clackities and genrushing, similar to hitting hooked survivors and tunneling are just a part of the game that shouldn't get into anyone's head really. Besides, your example has nothing to do with sweat or real toxicity. Not a single truly sweating team would bring flashlights - easily the weakest and the most counterable item in the whole game. If they wanted to sweat, they would bring toolboxes with BNPs. Most of the people with flashlights are merely memeing, some of them are doing Archives or just trying to get better at the game. It's not that deep, believe me.

I know how it might feel sometimes, though. I'd advise to take a deep breath, exit the game and do something else for an hour or two. Most of the survivors are potatoes either way, it's just that the hardest matches may stay in the memory much longer. Bring Franklin's or Lightborn if you see multiple flashlights in lobby and know that they'll probably bother you.

I just want to say I'm sorry that happened to you. Some players are just toxic and enjoy making other peoples games terrible but I have to say please don't assume that every survivor is toxic. There are genuinely very good and kind survivors out there.

What about that stops you from playing casually? It sounds like you want to play casually and win, which is a very different thing.

It's frustrating gameplay, but toxic it is not. If you have a flashlight, the opportunity and want to protect your fellow survivors, then anyone would absolutely do the same.

Best thing to do is decide what may work best. As mentioned earlier, Franklin's and Lightborn are ideal if yoi spot this in the lobby. Failing that, understanding they plan on playing aggressively and close together means that you could consider playing to slug them. Afterall, a downed survivor cannot blind you.

The locker bit is a bastard, because you can only pick up that way. Lightborn would save you there, but that's the only method available. So, since that is a lose-lose situation, the only thing to do is leave them amd figure out how to bait them away from lockers close together, and move them somewhere safer, because they're clearly gonna stick with you, thereby not doing gens.

So, I honestly wouldn't view this as toxic, but as a tactic the survivors are going by. Like a game plan during a football match. That way, you're taking the power away from them by coming up with counter-measures, owning what you can do and thereby empowering yourself.

I wonder the same thing about killers.

I suggest that if you are in a frustrating game just park your killer in a corner and take a step from the game. Your mental health and well being is more important than the ego or the game of the survivors.

I played against a squad like this once and while it was a bit frustrating, it was also pretty fun. (It’s also pretty rare because most survivors can’t do locker flashlight saves.) I got to practice locker timing, flashlight timing (from the killer side anyway), and I killed all 4 of them at 5 gens. One of them was borderline rude in end game chat but the others said gg and left so they weren’t unpleasant.

You have to see matches like this as an opportunity to learn some tricks, it isn’t a normal match so don’t try to play it like one. Bait the flashlight save by pretending to pick up. Slug as many as you can. Their flashlights run out after a while as well so try to pay attention to who’s out of battery and who they’re relying on to get the save.

You need to lighten up a bit, when you see the lightsabers just take lightborn and when you get in game and they wanna mess around with you have some fun with them, then when you've had your fill and dance around with the killer time gets old you just slug them all and make them race for you while they bleed out, this let's the survivors know that playtime's over and it's signals them to go to the next game.

    This.

Anyways, when I suspect bully squads as Killer I prepare myself accordingly. Most of the time they actually don't end up being very good and I suspect they weren't actually bully squads to begin with. I've been in solo queue before and we are all solos and decide to ready up as the same character together and have fun messing around and to any killer worth their salt it very obviously would look like a swf sweat squad lol

If you see a group of flashlights throw Lightborn on or bring Infectious Fright to punish them. If push comes to shove just go to a corner and afk if you are fed up with it but I implore you to try your best til the end.

The biggest difference in my experience is that toxic survivors will keep the game hostage whereas a toxic killer will usually just kill you and you can find another game. That is in effect a lopsided power over the game.

In fact, the only way to combat toxic survivors who take the game hostage is to just AFK which just sucks. There should be a very specific time(10-15 minutes) limit on these matches just to keep the game going moving.
