Fellow Killers, please tell me this was a one off...
So I played a game with Nemesis. Playing a game of Scooby Doo as they just run around in circles around rocks as Nemesis slowly finally gets close enough to give them a love tap with his fist.
Swing the fist as they get to the pallet, hear the "AHHHHHHH!" as I hit the survivor, the survivor drops the pallet, and....the survivor is untouched.
Like...I get that having the old setup where getting hit through a pallet sucked but I'm ready to snap the disc in half (figuratively of course since it's a downloaded game) as time after time after time after F'ing time I would hit the survivor, HEAR them scream like they were hit, they'd drop the pallet, and be perfectly fine.
I only played the one game because I'm already pissed off somethin fierce after that BS but I'd love to know if this was a bad one off for me (maybe lag or some garbage?) or if this is what I should expect as a killer and should therefore just hang up my blade now before I break something expensive? Any of my fellow killers play some games with the patch and can report?
EDIT: I guess it's not just me as that big ol thread this morning popped up. It must have dropped off the first page or I just plain missed it when creating this thread. Super duper, it's not just me... 😐

Yeah I don't know. I'm assuming this was because of the pallet changes.

i have over 2K hours in the game and seen a lot of changes and this is probably the worst. So much is wrong. The pallet change is horrendous and so is Tricksters lullaby.

I'm glad they are trying to fix this, by having the server check the timing. He threw the pallet before you swung your fist. He hits you, you don't get a hit.

Theyre updating the system soon so that it won't play the animation/sounds if the hit doesn't register. Some mod said it was being sent to devs.
Once they update it with the new validation it'll look smoother and feel cleaner both ways.

The new pallet system is here to stay. It's alot less unfair than the old system. See above video on previous system and tell me if this looks fair at all @tippy2k2

Playing Red Ranks can be frustrating enough but thinking I got a hit and the game going LOL JK is red haze infuriating. It was bad enough with that "grab LOL JK no you didn't!!!" but I could at least work around that by just not going for grabs and just swinging like normal.
How BHVR manages to take one step forward and then five steps backwards every time they try to fix something is absolutely baffling...

That's not fair either (I play both sides pretty regularly so I'm well aware of how bad it could be on Survivor side too) but breaking it for The Killer Side isn't exactly the fix I was hoping for either...

I have no problems with that. If I was hit with the pallet before I swung, fair play.
What is infuriating to me is hearing the hit on the survivor as they scream, getting an injured marker on them, and then the game saying JK LOL
Especially against a good looper when I FINALLY landed a damn blow on them only for the game to give me the bird.
Based on the few responses in this thread, it sounds like this is a normal thing right now, not just a one off from my particular game. Which might mean I need to put the blade away for the time being as Red Ranks are already a special kind of hell at times for killers, throwing salt into the wound like this is going to do nothing but piss me off and that's not very healthy...

On an M1 attack that's new. And hey, great, if it is cause of the new hit-priority... then now all attacks are broken :D
So far it was only ranged killers where animations would play but nothing would come of it. wow

Please understand that the killer side is not being broken. Previously, the killer has been allowed to score hits where it shouldn't have been possible. The new system is properly addressing the kind of hits we're discussing (what you saw today in game and what we see in that video above) and the animation will be fine tuned so that it won't appear as a false hit for killers sooner than later. Unless the survivor is running through the pallet zone unsafely, the killer shouldn't see a hit nor score a hit at the tip of range during pallet events. Right now, it's showing a hit on killer side because the game shows an animation on the killer side whether or not it shouldn't, which certainly creates the immediate perception that the system appears to be unfair.

Hooks are playing basement ambience I think. Additionally, there's a sizzling sound after the entity consumes a survivor.

I think that that is an extreme that rarely comes up, as opposed to what killers are now having to deal with.
Edit: And it's something that could have been fixed without creating the current situation.

It could be that too. It'd make more sense at least. Whenever the entity is summoned to a hook, it continues playing its sounds as well.

Disagree completely. The kind of scene found in the video was a common occurrence amongst many of my local friends and online friends, too. The kind of issue killers are dealing with now is superficial; the mechanics are fair but the visuals don't match.
The visuals will likely be updated soon to match the current mechanics.

You can disagree all you want, I regularly play survivor with 90+ ping and that never happened to me.
And it really isn't superficial. Right now, you hit people and they very clearly get hit, they were in range and everthing was perfect and suddenly they don't get hit. It's like everyone is Plague at pallets, they very clearly should be taking damage but don't. I suspect that if I choke my survivor connection I can camp every pallet I want and never take damage. Whatever system they implimented isn't working the way it should.

Except because of how bad the servers are killers are now being punished even with stronger internet. It is breaking killers instead of survivors, so the dev just switched who is suffering.
I would argue the old system was more fair due to the fact that the killer would get the hit, but survivors would get a stun (annoying and not perfect but at least survivors still benefit somewhat).

Yeah, Hooks have always made funny noises (did they fix having the hook whimpering like a survivor after you sacrificed someone? I'm so used to it that I'm not even sure if it was ever fixed) but usually that at least is just mildly annoying rather than game breaking 😭

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they finally fixed the voices at the hook after someone dies. But you know how it is: fix one thing, break five lol

This happens really often with huntress, you can see the blood, you can hear the hit but they are untouched.
So yeah, you are just getting bhvr'ed.

I kind of accepted it with Plague since it constantly happens with her (where the survivor screams and reacts to getting hit with her vomit but then nothing happens).
I don't know if I can handle the plague experience with every killer though 😅

Your latency is too high.
Before the change the survivors were unfairly suffering because of your bad latency. Now it is you who suffers. I think it is fair.
What BHVR should do is to wait a bit with the down animation until it is confirmed from the server.
