Pallet hit lies
So.... We all know they added in pallet hit validation and there have been many threads on the issue right?. Well a common thing that has been posted is that the hit will go to the person with the best ping courtesy of the forum mods.
LIES! With sub 20 ping i should never fail a pallet hit, but here we are. I just lost to a player with 64 ping and had the hit rolled back.
Got an explanation for this?

Its been working fine for me since the patch on both sides, I'm a low ping player too.

Well it just happened to me so there must be some slight survivor bias programmed in.
I have been playing ranged killers so didn't really get a chance to test it out.

In reality what happens is if the pallet is more than half way down when you hit, you dont get the hit. Not that hard,
this feels bad from a killer perspective? Welcome to the survivor perspective this whole time mate

Just because you have a lower ping doesnt mean you get hits at every single pallet.
The pallet simply was 50% down before your hit connected. That's your explanation.

Then i would have been stunned before hitting them since i have the lower ping.

I highly doubt that it is ping-related in a way that the person with the lower Ping is favored. The same was said about the Hit Validation, and I know for sure that it does not work this way. (I have 30-40 Ping and get hit by Players from Russia, who most likely have higher Ping due to their distance to the Servers)
So I dont think it is how it works with Pallet Validation (or whatever you wanna call it). It seems to base it on what the Survivor sees on their end (pure speculation on my side). I only got 1 Hit cancelled so far, and this was against a Survivor with around the same Ping as me. So they also had good Ping.

Not how it works. The pallet stun arrived to the server before your hit did. You dont know when they dropped the pallet, you see the pallet drop after the survivor already started dropping it.
Lets take this example: I cant find the time it takes for a pallet to drop down, so I will assume it takes a quarter of a second to fully drop.
The survivor droppped a pallet at 12:58:50:9942 with a ping of 65. That means the server recieves the pallet drop at 12:58:51:0007 and the pallet drop being a stun at 12:58:51:1257
Now, you are the killer with a ping of 20 and hit a survivor at 12:58:51:1238. That means the server will recieve your hit at 12:58:51:1258
So the server recieved the stun 1 ms before your hit. Meaning the server will simply say "the killer got stunned, he could not land a hit".
From YOUR perspective, you dont see the pallet dropping untill 12:58:51:0027 and it's not at 50% untill 12:58:51:1277. So from your perspective, it should have been a hit that's getting denied. But from the SURVIVOR'S perspective, they dont see your hit untill 12:58:51:1323, even though their pallet is well beyond the 50%.
This is assuming the server can process instantly, which it cant, so there might be an additional 50 ms delay between things due to processing time.
The ping difference only really starts mattering when you perform actions at the exact same time, but neither of you will see each other act at the exact same time.

I think the pallets are working the best they have in a long time as both killer and survivor.

Nuts to pallets can I get non-potato solo survivors to unhook me?!

I can't disagree, but the way it was explained means i shouldn't lose.
I have not had it happen again and the experience on survivor with such a low ping has been wonderful since i was always at a disadvantage.

I have the other problem, they don't do gens and crowd the hook for points XD

I know how it feels.
There were some situations today where I hit a survivor, I hear their scream, I see the blood...and the survivor walks away as if nothing had happened.
One of those moments happened during a critical context, therefore allowing the survivor to escape. This is not fair. If you mess up the timing, you deserve to get punished. Not the killer.

Survivors = more money 🤔

Yeah they don't want killers playing during the bloodhunt🙄

This is the biggest problem. The psychological aspect of seeing the hit with all its indicators and then it simply hasn't happened but the killer already acted accordingly.
For survivor i think that wasn't the case or at least not in the same dimensions. Yeah they got hit from further away but they were running or downed either way and it didn't impact how they played immediately after the drop to the same degree.
About the pallet validation per se, i don't care , i already respected most pallets and instantly broke them for more points and less stress later in the trial.
