The Dc penalty
I quit a match as survivor and I got a 5 hour matchmaking lock

And how many times did you DC before?
8 -
Someone must have been DCing a lot. You start at 5 minutes so this isn't your first DC of the day.
2 -
O this was my first match of the day
0 -
no one believes that and if yes...how many times did you dc before ?. Im happy that dc penalties are back cause to many toxic ppl ragequitting
14 -
And the day before that, the day before that, and so on?
3 -
I think the DC penalties last more than 24 hours? So it's still a question of how many times you DC'd.
I think it tallies for a week.
1 -
You must’ve been DCing a lot lately. Maybe you shouldn’t be DCing so much if you don’t want that long penalty.
5 -
And what do you want us to do about it?
1 -
Good. Happy to see it back and working.
See you in 5 hours with hopefully a lesson learned ^^
5 -
DC penalties stack - it's not about the first DC of the day. The timer decays over time, so yes it's possible that you might have not dc'd today but you stacked up penalties from previously.

You are the type of person that will look at the price of a mansion, see $1,999,999.99 for it price, and happily buy it because it is just 1 million dolars. Screw the fact that it is only 0.01 dolars away from 2 mil.
With that aside, quit DCing like that. The penalties stack throughout longer time periods, they don't refresh every day.

Yeah, forcing "toxic people" to suicide, throw and go AFK is a much, much better solution! It fixes completely everything.
1 -
Nobody's claiming that it fixes everything, it's just better than the alternative.
1 -
How is it better? Yes, the amount of DCs is smaller now, but the amount of quits of any kind, including DC, suicides and plain AFKs, is the same. It just takes a bot longer to quit, and the unhooked quitters will just run around the map wasting pallets and throwing the game to punish their team for not letting them go from the first hook. Nothing is changed in essence.

Jackasses will always find ways to troll and bail on matches. The answer is not to just let them do it.
Once again; the only people arguing against the DC penalty are those who would abuse its lack. Almost like they totally want to DC without penalty. 🤔
3 -
If the amount is the same as before, then you've just proven what everyone said: the penalty works, because the amount of quitters actually increases when the penalty is disabled.
The best evidence that the penalty works is that DCers keep coming to the forum to try to convince everyone that it doesn't.
4 -
Well, good luck recording every game, since reports without video evidence are disregarded.

what's toxic about DC'ing? If they found a reason to DC then let them, you don't lose anything, only the DCer does. The only thing you can complain about is potential longer queues.
1 -
You lose the normal trial you queued up for while the DCer can ruin another trial.
3 -
It ruins the match for everyone else in it. How is this hard for people to understand? Think about others for once.
3 -
This is why the DC penalty is in place.
0 -
You're assuming the person will DC again, until you know why they DC'ed there's no reason to suspect that. So you're already acting on bad faith against anyone who DC's. Now that's Toxic.
1 -
You shouldn't try such basic rhetoric as accusing me of what DCers do. It really doesn't work.
3 -
How does it ruin the match for tohers? You have no way to know why the DC happened, whats so hard to understand. THe only problem here is Queue times get longer cause there's someone else not in Queue, but without the penalty then there's still the same amount of people on Queue or not depending on why the DC happened. You shouldn't be DC banning people for any and all reasons.
0 -
I'm not accusing you of anything, you said " DCer can ruin another trial." you don't know if they will ruin another trial cause you don't know why the first DC happened.
0 -
You're accusing me of being toxic because I'm not thinking of the poor DCer's feelings, even though DCers are already inherently toxic. It's like the paradox of tolerance, but with DCers.
For the record, though, I didn't even say they would ruin another trial, I just said they could (which they can, by DCing).
1 -
You for real? A DC can happen for any reason and you're immediatly accusing the DC of bad sport, that's what you're doing, you're being toxic, yes. You don't have to care for their feelings but you can't tell why they DC'ed either so why should they be banned regardless of motive? If power goes out, if internet goes out, if game crashes, etc are you saying these things should punish you still? Wow very considerate of you.

We're obviously talking about people who DC on purpose, hence the term "DCer" (meaning "disconnecter", meaning "someone who disconnects (on purpose)"), as opposed to "crasher". Don't act like this wasn't obvious.
2 -
The majority of people I see DC are at very VERY convenient times. They step in a trap, they failed a mind game, they got found first, they dced the moment they got downed, they got grabbed off a locker. Don't expect me to believe ALLLLLL of those were legit DC's and not people being salty.
3 -
Rofl! 'You shouldn't be DC banning people for any and all reasons.' 😂😂😂
Riiiight. Let people ruin the game because they feel like they deserve any and all excuses to DC. Not gonna happen. Stop DCing and you won't get punished. The end.
Imagine how entitled you must be to think you deserve any reason to ruin the game for everyone else. Boo-hoo, poor you; you need the world to revolve around you so you can't comprehend that DCing ruins the game for everyone else in the match.
4 -
I'm not saying all of them are legit, i'm telling you the reverse, not all of the DC's are bad sport players. And considering how badly the game has been performance wise there's no reason to have the DC penalty back already. Switch is noly getting patched this week, think about this, think about how manny problems switch players have to endure if they wanna play. If they have DC penalty they eithe endure the shitstorm performance because they get locked out if they DC or just don't play at all...not getting value out of their money spent on the game.

You're going from the stand point of every DC being a legit bad sportmanship, i'm saying that's not the case. You're already mindlessly saying every DC is a guy being a bad sport. Undoubtly those exist and always will regardless of the DC penalty so the penalty isn't doing anything anyway. So you're only punishing people who crash or lose power or net or whatever that isn't directly them quitting a match.
0 -
What's the maximum you can get matchmaking banned for? I think it's 73 hours? The penalty length is a bit harsh IMO
1 -
Let me put it another way:
If someone drops net or has a game crash; this will be so uncommon that they don't get more than the default 5 minute penalty. Which will probably last longer than their net rebooting. They may have to eat 3 minutes if it was only the game crashing.
But if someone crashes SO MUCH that they eat a 5 hour penalty? They are booting up the game KNOWING they will probably crash, and putting their fun ahead of their fellow gamers, JUST LIKE A DCer! If someone has net issues in 4 out of 5 games; they either need to fix it, or be CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS and not play games where them crashing will ruin it for other human ######### beings.
The bottom line is that no program can know the INTENT of a disconnect; be it a crash or someone rage-quitting. And to keep a game from being ######### UNPLAYABLE, those with PC/net issues have to eat the penalty alongside people who would RUIN THE GAME BY DCing ALL THE TIME.
To say 'Well, 1 disconnect in 500 is someone crashing, so the other 499 should not be punished' is either very short-sighted, or you're one of those 499 looking for an excuse to dodge being punished.
3 -
Not all are legit but an overwhelming vast majority are bad sports. Which is why the dc penalty is in place. If real life stuff comes up once in awhile you will barely get hit by it. If you get hit by a 5 hour ban, you deserved it.
2 -
Regardless of the timer you're still locking someone out of Queue wether or not there is a valid reason for the DC. The penalty is there regardless of your actions or lack of actions. You're punished the same for DC'ing and being kicked for whatever reason, even a hacker can DC you and you're eating the DC ban.
You understand why they turned off the DC penalty during this Chapter and Event right? Cause clearly the game wasn't performing well and alot of people were being kicked out of the game. So obviously you can't just expect people to accept DC penalties for that hence why it was turned off.
They've patched the game twice but people are still reporting problems but now the DC penalty is on and some people are being banned regardless if it's them DC'ing or getting kicked out of the game. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
And you can't tell who's DC'ing or getting kicked and they DC'ed or got kicked and you can't see their timers so there's no way to tell what circumstances are causing the Dc's but most everyone here is hopping on the "using any excuse to DC" train and not wanting penalties when clearly the game isn't ready for the DC penalty to be back.

you can't tell if the 5 hour ban is legit or not can you? you also can't tell why the guy DC'ed either... You have to assume it is legit but the problem here isn't the timer the problem here is the DC penalty itself being in effect when the game performance has been in an all time low, we're not ready to have the DC penalty back. And if this person was victim of a bug then he got robbed of plenty of playtime....

Let me put it yet another way:
- There will always be a DC penalty, for the health of the game.
- Those with legit problems are (barring buggy updates) the minority of DC statistics.
- Arguing that it should be turned off for the minority of DCers while ignoring that the majority of DCers will abuse the ######### out of it is silly.
- There will always be a DC penalty.
They turned it back on, because they fixed their problems. There will ALWAYS be people who crash and lag. Always. I have never not seen a game where some people don't have issues. Again; to claim it needs to be off for this SMALL SUBSECTION of DCers, while ignoring how many ruin the game on purpose, is ignorant of the larger picture.
There. Will. Always. Be. A. DC. Penalty.

You don't get hit by a 5 hour ban if you DCed once. You have to DC a #@$% ton to get that much time. If every single one of those DCs were as a result of bad internet connection then that person needs to either fix their platform or play something else.

Press X to doubt.
I play a lot of games, and survivors that suicide on first hook or afk isn't noticably higher than before. The same goes for Killers that I play against.
1 -
Incorrect.
played a game this morning. Jake got hit, and DCed - not even downed. We didn’t get far. You rarely do at 5 gens at the beginning of a game.
