Why I get DC penalty when the game crushes
I wasn't playing DbD for good weeks, and today I decided to have a game.
The game forced me to disconnect after a bit of time since the start with the message saying 'You've been disconnected from the host'. I got 5 min penalty..

A disconnect is not a 'game crash'. There are a lot of layers between you and the game server.
It may very well be directly related to the game, but it can also be ISP related, your local network or any number of things.
A disconnect is a disconnect, however, and the penalties are in place, currently.
You can take some precautions to see if it's something you can change or fix but I'll leave that to you to search on the internet as the solutions are common to any online game.

Well that is why the penalty start at 5 minutes. If this was an oddity it shouldn't be a real problem.

This just happened to me because steam went down in general. I kept the item but not the points and got a 5min penalty.
