It's not even that I particularly enjoyed Last Year- because frankly the balance was just absolutely atrocious to the point where I could not tell if there was an extremely steep learning curve or it really was just that badly balanced. But I sincerely thought it had such promise and potential in the future had the devs made the right decisions. Mechanics like the Predator Mode and ambush takedowns were so cool and unique that it was such a waste to see those ideas squandered because of a poor launch followed by a myriad of other abysmal choices that came from the developer team.

If the devs had just decided to not go with their dumbass Discord Exclusive release deal I have no doubt the game would have seen much better success. I love Discord, it's great, they've done a great job fostering quality communications between players (and broader communities) for free, and some decent features should you decide to purchase their premium service (that is by no means required). But they are NOT a digital distribution service like Steam, Epic, etc. and how they couldn't see that with their own two eyes is just frankly beyond me.

Last Year is just another tragic story of wasted opportunity. It really is. It could have been so much more.
