Gen Speeds
When are they going to get nerfed? All gens can be completed in under 4 minutes and chases can last at least 60 seconds each. And since Camping if nerfed almost every patch now for some reason the Killer has to make 12 chases which, on average, can last 12 minutes.
The math doesnt add up well for Killer's.

the survivors can finish all gens in a bit less than 110 seconds (assuming only good, no perfect skillchecks, no toolboxes)
2 -
All spread out. 3 work while 1 is chased. 3 gens can get done in 80 secs max.
So there are 2 gens left and even if the killer manages to keep 2 survivor busy, the other gens can get done in another 80 seconds.
That's just 160 seconds for ALL gens to get done.
so we are well under 3 minute games and maybe 2 or 3 hooks for the killer while the survivor only have the gates left to do.
So good survivor can finish the match in 4 minutes.
That's insane.2 -
i made a suggestion topic of how to change the core mechanics of gen speed as well hook mechanics... i apologize though it's hard to read as it's my first thread and i still not know how to write on this forum, but it may give DbD a change as the core mechanics nowadays kinda feel outdated...

I agree that games often end too fast but I don't think increasing gen time is the solution we are looking for. Repairing gens is the least entertaining part of the game and therefore not anything that people should be forced to spend more time on.
What I would prefer: Rework most of the killers and their add-ons, each individually.

Guess why totems got introduced?
They had been intended to give survivor another thing to do.
Killer got perks linked to totems to give survivor a reason to spend time destroying those.
But what do that do instead?
Power through Ruin with great skill checks and go to the forum to complain about Noed.3 -
I think a change to gen time would be better met if Dev's also improved the skill checks. Right now its to boring, it needs to be more engaging before anyone will just sit there and endure even more time. And I don't mean more/faster checks either.0
-
Will be no more time spend to work on gens this is devs words. But hey we make another dlc to fix game mechanic with next perks...2

@Wolf74 said:

That's why I am staying by my suggestion to rework the killers - as long as nobody comes up with a good idea for an additional survivor objective. If there is a good idea, I'd be totally open to it!

I agree that re-working every single killer individually to be made more viable overall (specifically against gen-rush situations) is the best way to go, but I honestly don't see the devs putting that much time and effort into actually fixing the core problem. Since I don't see them touching the current time to actually fix gens, either, I couldn't fathom what they expect to do... if anything at this point, because the survivor base appears happy at the moment with gen times, so, yeah, probably not getting addressed period.
1 -
Simple fix for gen rush is more time but devs say we dont want this. And we got perk from clown on gens but only after hook somone and limit timer to use abd only work on one gen.So we keep fix game mechanic with next dlc.Prety good job.1
-
Everytime there is a problem the devs come out with a perk. Should I equip every perk needed to fix an in-game mechanic?2
-
I think adding an additional required objective aside from gens would be good. (such as needing to retrieve fuel?) this gives variety to survivors while still lengthening the game0
-
I don't think generator speed is really the issue. The biggest problem with survivor gameplay is that fixing generators is the only main objective that they have. Yeah, you can destroy totems, but does that take much time? It doesn't. It would take like a minute to cleanse all of them.
By adding more objectives survivor gameplay would be more interesting and matches would be longer.2 -

By adding more objectives survivor gameplay would be more interesting and matches would be longer. The problem runs deeper than that. At the moment, it's far too easy for one Survivor to loop while everyone else fixes generators. DbD needs a total overhaul of how trials and objectives work. Don't forget that killer has to be blind and deaf to allow survivors to finish all gens in so little time.We are talking only about the objective times and you cant deny that there is a big gap between the killers/survivors objective time. It takes 2 minutes until a single survivor dies on hook, but it doesnt even take 2 minutes to complete all gens. Sure, the killer will patrol and force one survivor out of the gen game, but dont forget that the killer has to go through endless looping until he actually gets a hooked (+second chances)
1 -
One of my main annoyances, is that a killer can kick a gen to start a regression of that gen, but the kicking animation is like what, 3 seconds? Yet, all a survivor needs to do to stop it, is to tap it briefly for a split second to stop the regression, which they can do in the middle of a chase.
Proposal, if a killer has kicked a gen, the first time a survivor works on it, give them a skill check, like with overcharge, but a standard skill check.

If it took less than 2 minutes to die on the hook would make camping way more rewarding, so it's fine.0 -

Don't forget that killer has to be blind and deaf to allow survivors to finish all gens in so little time.Maybe you ain't as good as you think.
If the killer switches targets to "pressure the map" and chase survivor away from their gen.
The other survivor, the one that just escaped the chase, can resume that gen immediately (maybe he has to spend some time healing before, so you gained 32 seconds).
Kicking gens isn't doing much, since they can get tapped to stop regressing mid chase.
Remember the killer just got 1 hook for 3 gens done and now 2 can gang up on one.
Even if the killer can force them away from an almost done gen, they have options to switch gens and it will only add another 80 seconds, because he can't leave the gen.
Survivor can play pig-in-the-,middle with the killer. since they have unlimited time, they will win.
So they make a 4 min match into a 6 min match…. yay.0 -

Gens being done in less than 4 minutes? Never, maybe when i started to play as a killer in 2016, but not that i remember.
There are many ways to do well in this game, but my rules are simple:
- Get rid of the DS asap (if they use it at the beginning they will run with 3 perks for the rest of the match)
- Break the pallets asap (unless it's a short loop where i can mindgame easily)
- To know who i gotta chase and who to avoid.
There are more, but i like to point these ones especially because it seems that many killers panic against DS users or refuse to break the pallets, meaning that they end up getting looped for X gens or worse, those pallets are still there at the end of the match.
Do i win all the time? Of course not, but i get really nice results thanks to the way i play.

Get rid of DS? You mean you eat the free escape and simply waste time? Sounds like a solid plan
Break pallets? Yeah just a shame that there are so many
Who to chase? You mean focusing the pleb survivor that doesnt know how to loop? Yeah well and what if all survivors have a brain and have played before?2 -

-Just eat DS and deal with the change of momentum, just to get rid of it and lose the initial push.
-I do break pallets almost always asap. I even run some "pallet mower" builds with BS, End, SF pretty successful, but even for them sometimes the sheer amount of pallets is to much.
-Of course I am NOT chasing that guy that WANTS TO get chased. I always search for the weak link, but often that just eats up a lot of time, before you can get the snowball rolling. And in some cases just ALL survivor loop like crazy.0 -

Yeah i totally eat it if i have to. Most killers lose more time by trying to avoid it instead of just dealing with it.
The number of pallets is fine. They have reduced the number and now they are more spreaded (remember the old preschool?)
They all might be good but there's always someone who is worse than the others. And if there's the case where all of them are god tier survivors then just deal with it!
Seriously, accept the defeat. Do you really expect to win all the time?

Pallets have NOT been "reduced" with the change in distribution.
In fact, overall they got increased with only 1 (or rarely 2) removed from big maps, but all the general minimum of pallets per map increased

The devs are survivor-focused. They will never do something that makes survivor's life harder. Its sad, but its true.
You add the fact that survivors think theyre skilled because they win most games, so they think you just suck at it, instead of accepting that they win because its really easy to escape.1
