I’ve said this before, but the chat filter is ######### bananas. Both “camping” and “phone” were blocked for the killer one conversation, but not for me. (He said he facecamped because he just wanted to play with his phone.) However, I could say them with no problem.

The chat filter needs a toggle, im an adult, I don't mind seeing bad words and bhvr doesn't need to coddle me like some 10 year old who still giggles at someone saying vagina.

You can't say "Michael Scott". For the longest time you couldn't say a lot of character names like "Myers" or "Jake". I have no idea what went through their heads when they implemented the system.

But seriously though, the filter is really bizarre. Pretty sure it tries to pick up on "context" or something else slightly more "smart" than simply "if word is on list, blank it out" like most traditional wordfilters. And it leads to situations where entire parts of sentences get blanked out.
I've said it since the start and I say it again, if it only blanked out stuff if people say something that's actually against the rules to say, it would be so much better. Blank out the whole line involving the word if they want to prevent the word to be easily identifiable through context. Make it so if you see **** in chat, you immediately know that you should probably report them for a chat violation.

I typed "i really didn't know you were right there" and "know you" got censored. While "toxic" isn't and "Yun-Jin" is, when it's literally the name of one of the survivor ^^

A theory that I had a while back is that the filter censors out names, probably in case a player, for whatever reason, decides to doxx another player.
Might be far fetched but it could be plausible.

The filter is incredibly dumb. I had someone say “slit ur wrists” to me, which wasn’t blocked btw, and also someone told me “go die” which was apparently fine, but then in a separate chat when I tried to say “delete Hawkins” the name of the map was censored. I also got censored for saying “glad I run Bond”.
I’ve never had an offensive word or insult be censored, I called someone a butthead the other day (jokingly) which was fine but Yun-Jin’s name gets censored for me every time. Why even have it at this point? People can freely call you slurs and tell you to die but the names of characters, maps and perks are blocked.

I play console now, but end game chat is always ridiculous regardless of situation. It censors out perfectly fine and suitable sentencing, but it lets the inhumane and deplorable ######### right through the filter. Insane.
Yup. And the thing is, this is actually true. Despite that being a joke and an over-exaggeration now, at the rate our societies are going, who knows where we'll end up?
Wouldn't call it far-fetched. People are absolute hypocritical monsters online nowadays. They'll dox anyone, from the sickest of internet fiends to the most innocent of children. Horrible stuff, and completely unjustified in every situation. But it happens.
