What is the purpose of torment?
It just circumvents the Cary and hook stages for survivors.
I believe that it should count as a hook for both killers and survivors and shouldn't be removed when uncaging a survivor.

the purpose is to eliminate the time of carrying a survivor to a hook. If you know there are survivors nearby whether its for a flashlight save, body block, hook save, ect. This lets you hook them immediately to continue the chase. I usually run Infectious freight so i know whos nearby and if its good to cage rather than hook.
another is for the execution when survivor is on death hook for a quick mori kill.
Id recommend to only cage for the situation above since it can remove torment if there are more than one with the effect.
another good effect is that since it doesnt count as a hook, perks like BT, DS, and other perks that work with hooks dont work with cages. Same goes for the killer side too.

Hooking a survivor takes 6-22 ish seconds
That's 7,5-27,5% of a generator a survivor can do. Times 3 if all survivors are on gens.
Torment and cages reduces that to a couple of seconds. It's actually a pretty big deal. All the benifits of hooking and slugging at the same time
