Is this game lacking content?
I often find this game lacking in some areas at times. Maybe in terms of game mechanics is where I see things lacking. I think Mori's should be passively implemented into all killers powers. Like a finishing move type deal but you can only do it once per match. Survivors should be able to do things like slide against walls and peak around corners. Survivors should be able to barricade doors or windows, open and or close doors in the map, pick up a shovel or wrench to try and hit the killer. Killers should be able to throw their weapon and retrieve it. Just stuff like that would be cool. Maybe even a new game mode or something would be cool too...
NOTE THESE ARE JUST RANDOM EXAMPLES I PERSONALLY LIKE THE SIMPLICITY OF THE GAME BUT AGAIN OFTEN THINK IT COULD BE A LITTLE MORE ELABORATE.

Honestly I think the game is too complicated for it's own good. I find it hard to recommend to friends because if they really want to get the full enjoyment they would have to put hundreds of hours into it.
The game really is difficult and you don't start getting remotely good at the game until you have like 1,000 hours at least.

the game is too complicated? i reached rank 1 killer with blight in 150 hours??? are we talking about the same game? The survivor side is exploring the world of generators and sitting on a loading bar and hitting spacebar every now and then. not to mention chases just involve running around the same obstacle over and over till one guy gets caught.

Reaching rank 1 is the easiest thing in the world, I did it on killer in 1 day. It doesn't mean you're even close to good at the game. Rank 1 has such a disparity between the best and worst, it goes anywhere from someone with 150 hours to someone with 10,000 hours. I'm sorry but if you reached rank 1 at 150 hours you are not as good as someone with 10,000 hours or even 1,000 hours.

Okay but you fail to highlight my other points

Your other point about how survivor is just running? I didn't think it was worth addressing. You can boil down any video game to "it's just doing this one thing" and it's a really bad argument. Oh CS:GO is the easiest game I've ever played, just aim and shoot. Just play more of the game you'll realize how much more you have to learn at 150 hours lol.

If chases were that easy, tell my teammates how not to be downed in five seconds. Thanks.
Your personal experience doesn't reflect the experience of all players. Some will find the game easy because they're use of this kind of games, others won't.

Ya the blood web is a nightmare.

Good points!

What makes the game complicated is the huge number of perks that you have to know about, the tiles and how to play them as and against every killer, killer powers and their specific weaknesses, addons and how their affect killer powers (again something you have to learn as survivor and killer) and ultimately decision making which comes down to trial and error / experience.
DBD is easily one of the most complicated "bigger" PVP games of all time despite the seemingly simple gameplay. That's why people play it for thousands of hours.
Get some new players and let them play against a mirror Myers on Lery's. They won't understand what's going on.
Get a new player and let them play Nurse on Hawkins against an experienced SWF team. They won't understand what's going on.
Now get a new player and let them play Call Of Duty multiplayer I bet you my soul they will get a couple kills on their first match even if it's a person that doesn't even usually play ANY video games because now that's a real simple game by design.

So wait.
Is the game easy or did it take you entire 150 hours to reach Rank 1? I'm confused.
4 -
you realize most of the perks are useless and only like 5-10 are meta?

What is a Mirror Myers and what's crazy about nurse on Hawkins?

There are many non-meta perks that can have a huge impact on the outcome of a match so for effective gameplay you have to know about them, too.
I often bring a non-meta perk when I play survivor as I know inexperienced killers will fall for it. Dance With Me or Deception to name a sample.
Hell, I used to run Poised+Dark Sense for a while which allowed me to escape endgame chases. So much for the meta.
I mean that does sound interesting but the dbd devs probably think more mechanics will be costly and make the game less user friendly so they stick with adding new-ish gameplay features via perksI guess.

I'd say DBD is closer to complex than it is to simple. A new player would have to learn:
How to play as and against 24 different killers, including multiple different add-ons
Generator and totem spawns on 36 different maps, as well as how to loop on each of those maps
and over 150 perks and how they interact with each other and killer powers.
I remember when I had switched from ps4 to PC and was placed back at rank 20. There was so many players that just didn't know what to do. There was a survivor that didn't know that there was a run button, killers that didn't know that they could break pallets, and the occasional player that would let you to die on the hook despite being right next to you simply because they heard a terror radius.

I guess if you look at it the game is complex. I guess I need to remember back when I first started playing. I literally thought the objective of the game was to hide and avoid the killer at all costs. I was always the last one alive looking for hatch. My primary objective was to get an item and escape through hatch. I also didn't know the killer could close the hatch so when I found it I'd wait for it to open thinking the timer was for it to open only to find myself dying instantly lol xD

Honestly they need to make a dbd 2 but with triple A game company backing them up, the game engine feel so old and really limit the mechanics of the game compared to any other game.
1 -
Ya that might not be a bad idea. But DBD II would be to cliché. Maybe call it "Dead by Tunneling" lol xD jk but ya I agree.

Yeah it's been out for 5 years and all we got added to the game so far is totems, I've always wanted another objective or something to interact with. The game starts to feel monotonous after a while of pretty much just having generators
1 -
Ya a new game mode would be nice.

@TwitchyMike I agree, it is sorta lacking. I ran a poll on this, idd like you and everyone here to vote on it.

Yes besides chapters nothing really gets added to the game the last major thing was like endgame collapse

I can do that! I love polls!

Th9is game is lacking good technical support, like balance changes. They bring good balance patch once in a 6 months. Should be once in a week

Have you forgotten about everyone’s favorite new feature: Breakable walls!

I guess my perspective might be skewed because I just started playing last year and haven't really seen this game bloom into the beautiful flower that it is. But I am learning this game quickly and of course still have more to learn but just for my 20+ years of gaming experience I feel my opinion holds some weight when I feel a game is lacking in some areas. Now it's a matter of perspective though. I mean this game isn't as immersive as a game like Skyrim but it's not as simple as Tetris. This game is flavorful and I love it but I could see it having some other cool features as well.

On the killer side, I don't think so. However, the survivor gameplay is basically just holding M1 next to different assets. There's little strategy involved.

i think this game lacks some atmospheric stuff as well as more interactive stuff for survivors. Killers already have plenty to though.
for atmospheric stuff I think about something like the crows, made a suggestion/concept for spiderwebs for example which also may give survivor some kind of interactivity.
For survivor gameplay, it’s either hold M1 (repair, gates, healing, totems, chests) and only when they interact with the killers or have to search for hidden totems/gens (indoor maps) they actually do something..

If you turn a pallet sideways and cram it in a doorway you now have a breakable wall 🤗 wonder how long it took them to think of that idea
0 -
I think this game needs a lot more depth to be a satisfying game to play. it's getting real old when the survivor meta is hold w and hold m1 the best you can. It is because the game lacks depth.

I mean I could see killer basements matching the theme of every killer which would be cool. I know ideas of this have been discussed before.

no, this game is lacking optimization and bugfixing. i would even say they release to much content because every addition to the game generates new issues. its kinda embarassing for a game thats 5 years old and is still being "worked" on......
1 -
Nah, this game is lacking performance on current gen consoles.
1 -
It's not unheard of for games to take a long time to optimize though. Back in the day when a game was released it was simple. You released it and it was done until a sequel. If there were any bugs too bad the game was released. But now game developers can actively work on content and fix games thanks to the amazing internet! I'm not down playing what you're saying. But believe me there are games out there that are older than DBD that are still being tweaked.
