Remove the forced camera turn when triggering a Hag trap.
This is so annoying. Triggering a Hag trap forces you to look in the direction of the trap, which can really throw you off and get you caught in a chase, or even while trying to save someone from the basement that the Hag has trapped up like crazy.
It's ridiculous. Please remove the forced camera movement when triggering her traps.
Her traps are not meant to do this. The camera movement is just to add to the "jumpscare" but instead all it does is move your camera and make you run ways you don't wanna go. This feature needs to go.

"which can really throw you off and get you caught in a chase"
That's it's entire point.
12 -
No, it's not the point. This is not what her traps are meant to do buddy. It's meant to allow you to teleport to it. Not make them run into a ######### wall because their camera was force moved. Whether you like it or not this isn't fair to Survivors whatsoever. We shouldn't be forced to ######### run into walls or miss our unhook attempt because of this stupid ass feature.
3 -
The reason her traps do that is because they're meant to disorient you as well as let her teleport.
It sounds like someone just lost to a Hag.
3 -
Never made sense to me, it would make far more sense on The Clown or The Doctor than with The Hag.
There's nothing about the trap that debilitates you, it merely acts as a teleport point for the killer, therefore what is the reasoning behind Hag's traps shifting your camera?
If it's that big of a deal to lose (which it literally isn't) then the power balance can just be shifted elsewhere.
1 -
Actually, I haven't even played today yet. Sounds like someone's a Hag main. This part of her traps has simply annoyed me every time I've went against her.
Even if this feature is intended for that, it's still not fair, and needs to be removed. The Hag is good enough as it is. She doesn't need this bullshit stupid feature to help her.
2 -
Couldn't agree more dude. You get me.
0 -
Spoiler Alert: I'm not a Hag main. I don't even like her.
Can you tell me exactly how this feature is "unfair"?
3 -
If you at the direction of the trap before triggering the hag trap you won't get disoriented.
God forbid a killer's power has any sort of minor inconvenience on the survivor.
2 -
This kind of attitude where you completely discredit someone like this is just rude.
Ive allways agreed with op on this and have been waiting for a change. Its a dated unthematic unintentional cheap mechanic that takes control away from the player. If its meant to disorientate, then theres other ways to do that. You cant expect a player who has allways had full camera control against every other killer on the game to be thrown into a fixed camera trap and call it fair.
110% this forum post needs to be spotlit, thanks for bringing it to attention op
1 -
It is literally what he traps are meant to do. https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Lisa_Sherwood#Power:_Blackened_Catalyst
It's literally in her power descriptions.
0 -
Just disable Hag.. permanently. Until they rework her, if ever.
1 -
How am I discrediting OP? I just asked him why he believes this feature is unfair.
When you play against a Hag, you should be expecting the camera snap. And when you're expecting it, it doesn't end up doing much.
The only thing "unfair" about Hag is her ability to camp hooks in my opinion.
1 -
That website is made by fans, thats not the real description.
Even a quick google search on dbd mobile reads
"The Source of The Hag’s power, a blackened finger used as a catalyst for her terrible power. The Hag bends and shapes mud to her will. With simple ritualistic drawings, she creates deceitful duplicates of herself, made from mud and decay, which she can use for various effects.
Grants the ability to create and maintain 10 Phantasm traps.
Grants the ability to immediately travel to triggered Phantasm traps"
And no where do they mention the camera...

The disorient them in some other way if that's really necessary. Forcing your camera in a direction you don't want isn't fair.
There's a number of reasons it's unfair. Here's a great example.
Survivor hooked in basement, basement packed full of traps, Hag patrolling area. You see an opening and quickly run down for the save, triggering the traps in doing so, but the traps make your camera go a way you don't want, wasting time and causing you to get yanked off the hook during the unhook as the forced camera movement wasted your time and allowed the Hag to catch you before your save. That's probably the biggest issue because it promotes camping.
Yes, you could've crouched over them, but due to the slow speed while crouching, The Hag would find you before you even get down there.
0 -
Even when you expect it, you can not predict the exact angle you need to snap back to after your camera control is taken, and if it happens as your trying to keep tight around a loop, lots of loops have corners and object you can easily get stuck on when expecting the trap.
0 -
I wouldnt be mad at this either the hag is just a bad killer to have in dbds mechanics with her power the way she is, thankfully most people who are red ranks dont play her cause shes boring to play as too
0 -
That's why I said "The only thing 'unfair' about Hag is her ability to camp hooks in my opinion." Yes, I agree that the situation you described is unfair. But it's not because of the camera snap, it's because of Hag's ability to camp in general.
Obviously you can't expect where every Hag trap will be. That's the nature of trap based killers. Their traps are supposed to be hidden. However, when you're playing against a Hag, you should be on your guard in general. At any moment, you should be expecting that you might accidentally trigger a trap; especially if you're in a chase. And when you're prepared for it like that, the camera snap becomes a minor inconvenience.

Rofl.
'Hag's unfair because I, subjectively, don't think her power is supposed to work like it does'. 😂
It's supposed to disorient you, even if you don't think so. The teleport is to give map pressure if the Hag thinks ahead, the disorient is to help her in a chase.
Do you really think the devs went 'Lets give her camera lock because it will piss people off!' or it's the result of some glitch? It's how her power is meant to work.
No. Hag is fine.
2 -
The wiki takes the liberty to add crucial information to descriptions that the devs didn't add. While yes, it may not be part of the game's description, it doesn't change the fact that that is how her power has worked since her release in late 2016 and it's an intended mechanic.
1 -
No I think her camera lock is honestly just there to add to the jump scare, it wouldnt be a scare if you just heard a sudden noise behind the tree you went past, but suddenly control is taken and your forced to look at the killer as she jump scares you. Its dated and needs a rework because theres better ways to disorientate survivors then to take control of the camera. look at her deafening add on, thats a good example.
0 -
It's fine. It's part of her power, and it's not dated or in need of a rework.
She'd literally lose all pressure in a chase if her traps did not toy with your camera as you ran by the trap.
1 -
The forced camera is meant to add to the jumpscare factor, but instead it throws you off and gets you killed. This is not what they're meant to do. Period. It needs to be removed.
No, you're wrong. It needs removed.
0 -
Yeah, sure. Your opinion is objective fact, apparently. 😂
I'll say it to you in a way you will understand; No, you're wrong. Her power is fine. Period. 🤙
Just because you don't like it does not mean the devs need to change it. It exists to do two things; jumpscare you, and screw with your camera in a chase.
Do you REALLY think they had no idea what it would do if a trap popped in a chase? Rofl. Hag is fine. Period. Deal with it, because it ain't being removed just to appease you.
Also, I love 'You're wrong' with no real argument. As if you are a god of balance and the devs should obey your command. Rofl. 😂
4 -
Yeah and survivors should not be able to throw pallets that is so unfair and annoying to killers 😀 Stop being bad, play and git gud!
2 -
Nope, her power isn't fine and you know it isn't. I'm not gonna argue, this part of her traps isn't fair or reasonably counterable.
The point of traps is just to let the Hag teleport to it, not to throw your camera in a direction you don't wanna go. That makes no sense.
I'd like to see you do something about Hag's forced camera movement. Go ahead, I'm waiting. Why don't you git gud and win as the Hag without this extremely unfair and stupid feature on her traps?
As I've said before, and you all know it's right, her traps aren't meant to do this. Her traps aren't supposed to throw the survivor off and make them go the wrong direction or run into something. They're just supposed to allow her to teleport to it. Period. End of story.
0 -
Why are people disagreeing with this suggestion? It's a good idea, lol.
0 -
'The point of traps is just to let the Hag teleport to it, not to throw your camera in a direction you don't wanna go. That makes no sense.'
Except they programmed that exact thing in. Which means part of her power is to do that, because it's not a bug or a glitch or an oversight. Her power is to move your camera because they programmed it to move your camera. This is literally a fact of reality. They MADE her power do this, so you saying 'Bwuuuhhh! It's not meant to do that because I don't like it!' is really silly. And wrong.
'I'm not gonna argue, this part of her traps isn't fair or reasonably counterable.'
In my experience, the people who say 'I won't argue' are trying to close down any counter-arguments because they know they're wrong and want to pretend they have 'won' by ending the discussion before people can reply. But even if you're 'not gonna argue', you're still wrong.
Guess what? You're wrong. Her power is meant to screw with your camera. They programmed it to do so. What you think about it is wrong, but keep screaming and stomping your feet, then saying 'I won't argue!' in a hollow attempt to be 'right' by shutting down the discussion.
You're still wrong; Hag is is fine. You're just whining for nerfs because you don't like her. Enjoy knowing that You. Are. Wrong. 😘
2 -
Nope. You're wrong and you know you are. Stop trying to deny it. Her traps aren't meant to throw you off. Period.
You're clearly afraid of losing as Hag if they fix this stupid feature.
0 -
Except they do, deliberately, so they are meant too. Keep whining, though. It's hilarious to actually see someone who thinks their subjective feelings trump reality. 😂
2 -
Keep disagreeing with something you know is right just because you wanna win. Selfish eh?
0 -
Well I find it unfair that it forces me to run into things or perhaps even fail an unhook attempt. If it were like a slow movement towards it rather than an instant warp of my camera to look at the trap, I wouldn't mind it so much.
0 -
I'm not trying to win the argument, I'm pointing you reality to a sad little person who's trying very hard to be 'right', even though reality is literally against them.
Have fun knowing you're wrong, buttercup! Her traps are meant to screw with your camera because the devs made it screw with your camera. Their intent is pretty clear to everyone but you.
And I know, in your widdle heart, that you know this, so you're trying so very hard to troll and attack me. It's adorable! 😘
2 -
Because it's a suggestion to nerf a killer over something that isn't a problem and has clearly been an intended strength since her release, because you don't like it.
5 -
Because I am right. Lol. Her traps are not meant to distract or throw you into obstacles or away from an unhook attempt. They're just a place for her to teleport to. And you know this is right. Whether or not it's "unfair" is up to opinion, but what I'm saying is "right" is that her traps aren't meant to make you run into things or run the wrong direction.
Tell me, if you saw a cannibalistic witch jump out of the ground, what would you do?
A. Run away as fast as you can.
B. Ignore it.
C. Run into the wall like an idiot.
Chances are it wouldn't be C.
Her. Traps. Aren't. Meant. To. Do. This. Period.
0 -
Nope it's not intended. Her traps are for her to teleport to not make people hit walls with.
0 -
You saying it's not intended means nothing. The mechanic has existed since Hag was released. And if you are already looking in the direction of her trap, it doesn't move the camera. You get rewarded for paying attention to where her traps are by lowering the strength they have.
4 -
It doesn't move the camera if you're already looking at it because... you're already looking at it... lol. You can't always look towards them when they trigger, especially when she spams traps all in the same area, such as the basement.
Yes you can avoid them but sometimes you have no choice but to trigger them in order to save someone. And the forced camera turn really hinders you from saving them and heavily promotes camping. And that is the real issue I have with it.
0 -
It's almost like Hag's entire strength is being able to guard an area with her traps and if the hag is placing traps in areas where you aren't able to look directly at them to prevent the forced camera movement then she gets rewarded with your disorientation.
The only thing that really needs to be changed is how close she can place traps to hooks. PH can't leave trails too close to hooks (they disappear quickly) and Twins can't swap between charlotte and victor when too close to a hook. So it would only make sense to prevent hag from placing traps too close to hooks.
2 -
What youve just said directly apposes what other users have said here, that survivors will just learn to expect the camera jump, which means in nature that its a flawed mechanic that can be predicted anyways. Its pointless, it benefits no one except hag when survivor gets hooked on geometry as a result, even when its expected
0 -
This is the in-game description of her power. It says nothing about disorienting the survivor or throwing them off. Why? Because they aren't supposed to do that. All it says is you can teleport to them.
The camera movement is a stupid feature they put in to add to the "jumpscare" which ended up being a terrible decision as all it does is make you go the wrong direction or fail save attempts. And that's not fun.
1 -
Wait...Are you trying to say it's flawed because Survivors can counter it if they know a trap is around?
That's...actually good design. That means that the Hag is rewarded with scares if she places a trap in a place Survivors are not aware of, but Survivors are rewarded if they know she placed the trap and react accordingly.
1 -
Oh my god 'it's not fun' is the stupidest argument Survivor mains have. They always think their fun is the single metric the game should be balanced by.
Hags traps have done this for 5 years; it's part of her power. Cope.
2 -
Just because it's been here for 5 years doesn't make it okay. The Nurse has been here for longer and she's even more unfair than The Hag.
Seriously, I'd love to see you counter the forced camera since you're so fixed on it being "okay."
1 -
A killers power description missing bits of information does not mean it's unintended. We've had wrong descriptions for perks and addons in the past.
The devs somehow failing to change an aspect of hags power for over 4 years that people have complained before and will likely complain about in the future don't really suggest it's unintended.
3 -
Well as I said, The Nurse has been here for even longer and she's even more unfair and we all know it. Yet she's still here, OP as ever.
0 -
No thats not at all what im saying , just what others have said if you read my reply... you said hag would lose all pressure in chase without the camera change, but everyone else is saying that the camera change can be predicted, which means that you dont get pressure in chase from camera change since everytime you put it down in a chase they will know about it, and yet hag is still plenty powerful with her traps in chase considering her pressure when triggering them on most loops garuntees a 50-50 for her and takes very little set up.
Shes got more then enough pressure with her ability to go around the map on a given notice and her ability to proxy camp and create dead zones. Her camera snap is doing none of that for her, literally zero
Its dated guys, get over it, this is a 2016 killer.
0 -
That is just a hilarious post, faulting people for wanting to have fun as priority 1 in a video game? Btw 4/5 players on this game want to have fun and apparantly its a stupid arguement guys , we gotta make sure to win before having fun. No wonder your ok with hags camera movement, it helps your bottom line even if its a cheap kill.
Its an outdated mechanic, intended for jumpscares, it needs a rework it doesnt belong in a game where movement is key on both sides.
0 -
This is so correct it's not even funny.
0 -
Mate it's Hag stuff unfortunately
0 -
Claiming 'It's not fun' is trying to use something SUBJECTIVE as a balancing factor. Some people would say TRAPPER is 'unfun' as a reason to nerf him, even though he's trash currently.
Plus, Survivors think their fun means the whole game should be balanced around them, but if Killers say 'What about our fun?' The reply is basically 'Who cares?'
On top of that, Survivors are using 'unfun' as an excuse, because they know 'I want this nerfed because I, personally, don't like it' won't go far.
So no; balancing for something as subjective as a personal player's 'fun' is not the right thing to do.
Hag is fine. Get over it, guys.
