One of the most fun killers is going to slowly fade away
I think demo is one of the most beloved killers in the game. But over time, we’re going to see him less and less, as new players can’t buy him. That’s really sad for the future of the game, as demodog is a huge meme for DBD. Really bad stuff.

yeah i dont know if its possible, i doubt it but mabye in the future he will be given out for free...

I am still super confused to why the Chapter is getting removed. I thought they said that they had a good relationship with Netflix. They even got the model for Demogorgon from the show. I hope this means we get like a part 2 chapter with something new from Season 4. I am really sad right now.

That is my hope as well but its so odd a chapter is disappearing.
Netflix always seemed so chill so why now?

I’m guessing they raised the price it costs to use the license, and BHVR wasn’t willing to pay for it. Can’t think of any other reason, as it’s good promotion for Netflix.

netflix is like any other major company, they want $$$ over what people want, they wont even let us keep hawkins :(
7 -
I just started to main him

That's a bad thing?

They will remove from the game? If i don't buy it now then I lost ? And the perks ? I like nancy perks ... If i don't buy her now, I wont be able to do it further? Why ?

I need to go research how sharing licenses work. Does bhvr have to pay x amount of dollars yearly to keep licenses and the holders can jack up the prices anytime?
That would seem like a dangerous gamble to me.

YES, Hawkins is the best indoor map.
7 -
Nah don't worry, you'll still be able to main them (and we'll be happy if you do).
2 -
no i bealive its more like, the liscense expired, so when bhvr went to renew, they jacked up the price or sumthin
1 -
Just watch us eventually get an original Killer with exactly the same kit and perks. I'm feeling it.
2 -
Yea, i know.
But its still really sad especially since i just rewatched Stranger Things and expected more outfits once season 4 drops. ;(

mabye the power, but perks no, those are beain throw into the shrine

They are a business after all. Just because it's nice to work well with them, when there is a contract doesn't necessarly mean that renegotiating the licence won't turn out to be a hassle. There can be so many reasons why. Too expensive, numbers aren't satisfying enough or general strategy change for licencing.
No matter what it is, it's sad considering how enthusiastic the DbD community always was for a Stranger Things chapter.

Yeah, it's such a disappointment :/

From my limited understanding of law, they basically pay an agreed fee with the licensed holders for a set amount of time, then when it nears it's initial expiration they re-negotiate terms, and that's when the license holders might ask for more. Netflix either wanted more money or just wasn't interested in renewing their contract.

I already don't see Demo that much as it is. Eventually he is going to be even more rare than the Hag.
1 -
This isn't a tough question to answer. Netflix is making their own games, so they want to keep their popular IP to use for those games.

It's impossible for us peasants outside of the negotiating room to really know. But it's hard to believe BHVR would release a new Legendary for ST knowing that the content would have to pulled by the end of the year.
This is nothing but speculation, but my guess is that BHVR may have breached their contract with the botched Jonathan release, and that may have affected their ability to retain the license.
1 -
If that is true for all licenses isn't that a dangerous game to play for bhvr?
Or maybe not all contracts are the same? I always assumed it was a one and done deal so situations like this couldn't happen :<

He's already one of the less played killers according to the stats we got last year (only more played than Plague):
Eventually when old players who have him stop playing the game, he'll definitely disappear. Facing a single Demo will probably be YT content in two years or so.
3 -
Oh that is a good theory.
Idk... with an announcement like this I would have hopped that bhvr would give us a reason why. That tweet is like a smack to the face.

There may actually be one workaround for this problem. The Nightmare Edition of the game for consoles is only available in a physical format, and it includes the Stranger Things DLC. Unless BHVR pulls the edition of the game, or updates it to no longer provide the chapter (which would be ripping consumers off btw), then it could act as a way to get your hands on Demo after the termination date.

true

Or the opposite that it wasn't selling enough and they decided that this might be best

Yeah but let's not pretend that Demo was ever a popular killer; pretty much no one plays him even after his recent buffs, so it's not gonna change much in terms of killer variety.
No more Hawkins is great news though!
2 -
Demo is one of the most played killers at middle ranks and MMR. You won't see it at high MMR because that's only Blight, Spirit, and the occasional Nurse, but it was a popular perk at the more relaxed skill level.
No more Hawkins is terrible news. All it means is the chances of getting RCPD have raised.

Demo has always been one of the most unfun, and sometimes miserable killers to go against, in my opinion.
However...
That doesn't mean things should happen the way they currently are. I feel bad for everyone who loved this Chapter and its characters, and hope BVHR finds a better solution in the future.
0 -
I doubt that would be it.
0 -
Even without MMR i've very rarely seen him anyway.
It's true that more chance of RPD is bad, but out of all indoor maps, i still prefer getting more The Game and Midwitch over ever seeing Hawkins as they're less claustrophobic.

It will be really funny in like 2/3 years if this game is still around and demo is still exclusive to play him against mostly newer people who likely have never or barely ever seen him and have no idea what he is like to play against.
Will be like playing him on a ptb again.

It's a bad thing when you see more spirits, nurses, and sweaty killers as one more map that's decent for slower and more chill killers leaves the game. But fear not, The Evil Dead game comes in february, more fun, more polished, and even has bots and single-player capability which are the things they delayed the release wisely to include as it was gonna be only co-op only with a 4v1 mode initially. dbd is gonna finally bleed players after a long, hard, rough year of gradual decline just to see this happen months before a better game gets released lol. Man this is gonna be good.

your beloved killer is being played like 2%. He won't be missed as he was rarely played. Delusional survivor mains.
0 -
yeah, screw Netflix for taking away our goodest of good bois!
>:'(

What are you even talking about lol? Stranger things is a very popular IP, especially compared to silent hill.

I'm sad to see the laboratory map go, I actually like it. I'm hoping they will replace it with a Hellraiser-themed map - hell labyrinth perhaps?

My guy I was talking about Hawkins, not Demo
0 -
He's definitely one of my favorites to face, it's gonna suck losing him over time.
