Hawkins Labratory Memorial Thread

As we all surely know by now all stranger things related content in the game will be removed or repurposed, aside from the 3 characters it launched with. All stranger things perks will become general perks and Nancy, Steve, and demo will become exclusive to people who have purchased the DLC before November. More importantly though, we will be losing an entire map from the game, the Hawkins National Laboratory. Now i'm sure not everyone is unhappy with the removal of Hawkins, as it is a controversial map amongst some. But undeniably seeing a map that will have been with us for soon to be 8 full chapters go is a very solemn thing. Many memories have been made on this map, good and bad. From jumpscares Myers slashing us around every corner, to the amazing first time we loaded on the map and saw demo roaming its hallways.

I have decided i want to make this thread a place to share your favorite memories and screenshots on hawkins, so that we can all gather in remembrance of a map we've all grown to know. Thank you for every match, hawkins.

I ######### despise this map, but I admit it's going to feel weird playing without it.

The secret room is probably the most special thing about it, no other map did this again.

Here's my F to pay my respects to the map.

I've had many great Mikey games on it, especially with scratched mirror. So I will miss it for that.

Hawkins remains my favorite indoor map because it forced different play. Back before I could loop at all it was a nice break from the gameplay I couldn't do very well, and as killer, if I had to get an indoor map, I wanted it to be Hawkins.

Favorite moments have to be figuring out how to Blight effectively on it and any time I pulled off the "try to trick people into falling down the hole directly into your arms" trick.

It also was one of the best maps to get certain archive challenges done on both sides (Killer "Adept" and pallets being the two obvious ones I used it for) and even if I didn't like the map I'd lament losing it from that alone.

Very very sad to see game content be removed, and I'm sincerely hoping Netflix and BHVR can work out the license in the future. Less content is bad, period.

I remember the first time I loaded on this map.

It was during the Stranger Thing's PTB, and I was playing against a Legion who, quite often, got lost on its hallways. Unaware that Demo would eventually become one of my most hated killers, I was excited for the Chapter at the time.

If, or when, I return to the Fog, it is going to be weird playing without it.

  • Playing against myers on this map is also a lot of fun. I got mori'd one time in the upstairs isolation room, that was pretty scary.

It’s a shame it’s going away. Next to the RCPD, Hawkins was second place for the best looking map. The amount of detail it has is staggering

I've always adored Hawkins (although my friends cannot say the same) for how it changes playstyles. It was one of my favorite maps to play on as Ghostface, scoochin round the halls, and Jumpscare Myers.

Having an entire map is an effect everyone is going to feel, especially when maps get disabled for whatever reason. That's an entire realm that won't be there and will really force limited map selection (especially when multiple maps are disabled, such as now).

I hope any licensing issues can be worked out in the future, because new players (who could possibly be Stranger Things fans) may come to the game after seeing videos of playing as these characters after the end date, and then find out that they are ultimately beyond their reach, and that's pretty cruel.

Hawkins' room specifically referenced Paulie Esther, a DbD youtube. I believe SH's secret room, though cool, is relatively self-contained.

I really liked this map, had great atmosphere and easter eggs from the show To hell with that "celebration" thread and the guy who made it.

As a Nurse main I don't have good memories, but it was one of the most beautiful and unique maps of the game, I will miss it, for sure :(

I always seemed to play against Huntress and Billy's on there. I liked playing as Trapper on HL, got plenty of trapped survivors and only 1 basement game ever.

It's a great map and promoted interesting gameplay. Even with killers who in theory suck at the map like Blight or Oni you could do some cool plays. At least it was something different from the Macmillian/Autohaven/Coldwind/Crotus Prenn rotation which are basically the same maps with different colors. Never understood the hate for it and it is a shame to see it go.

Ehh i wouldn't lump them together, Hawkins' secret room did more than just a reference to its license.

The lab was never my favorite from a gameplay perspective. But they absolutely nailed it on making it a gorgeous map with so many little Easter eggs and references to the ST universe. It will be sorely missed for that reason alone. I can't imagine how the level designers feel knowing all of their hard work creating it will no be able to be enjoyed by everyone.

Let's be honest, this map looked incredible, but the gameplay was bad. Basically any stealth Killer would win for free, and several Killers couldn't really use their power. Since they had no intention of rebalancing it, I say good riddance.

It was a map I once hated (as with most indoor maps because it's harder to find generators), and over time I like it quite a lot. But it's still just a map. I'd hope that the agreement with Netflilx is related to the name and appearance and not the layout which shouldn't be proprietary. I'd propose as some already have that BHVR just gut the graphics and make a revamped map with the same layout, a new name and different appearance. The suggestion to make an All-Kill/Trickster themed map seems doable, though I don't like the aesthetic in this horror genre.

  • F in the chat for Hawkins. That map will be dearly missed.
