Do you think BHVR knew about the removal of Stranger Things earlier.
Personally when Demo recieved their changes it felt really out of the blue, they weren't a new killer and if you were to make me list the killers in order of how much they need to be changed Demo would be pretty low, he was a solid mid tier killer. I am wondering if BHVR knew they would not be able to afford to renew to liscence so they pushed Demo to the top of the list.

I also think they knew, they tried hyping up a Stranger Things Live Stream by having Gaten Matarazzo and Ninja play together. It really seemed like they had a lot of attention put to Demogorgon out of nowhere, and I think that's mostly due to BHVR wanting Netflix to extend the license by showing them the DBD Fanbase really cares about these characters.
Unfortunately, a lot of us wanted to see a new skin for the characters and they didn't give us one for a long while (from what I remember) and the Demogorgon touch-up came a lot later so the live stream really didn't matter.
I think BHVR fought to extend it, but because we had no idea the license was in danger and it all coming from nowhere and not making sense led to it not being extended. I think Jonathan was the last major effort but because Jonathan didn't get new voice lines people thought it was a $15 scam and didn't buy it

I think they knew Netflix wanted to renegotiate, but didn't expect them to just pull out altogether.

It's honestly so disgraceful, this type of action by the devs. They shouldn't have even made it $15 a pop if it wasn't permanent, i think they knew. Shame on them

I think they could tell us why it happened but they don't want to make themselves look bad, but I mean it could've been the duffer bros or Netflix decision to not allow it, maybe something is going to happen in season 4 that makes the demo ( he's a good boy after all!!!) not a bad character in the storyline so it doesn't make sense to allow a license that would still perceive him in that way, it's a long stretch but not impossible...then again BVHR could've just decided he wasn't worth the price tag and figured they would make what they can before it goes.

I'm all for criticizing BHVR, there's a lot to critique these days, but these skins are permanent. If you buy them before November 18th, they will remain.

This was the most upsetting thing to me in dbd history, prior thing was the removal of moonlight offerings.
It's an unpopular opinion, but I LOVE indoor map especially as survivor. I'm so heartbroken we're gonna lose hawkins.

You can't honestly think BHVR wouldn't much rather have kept the license? It feels dirty, sure, but BHVR's not the one to blame here.

But BHVR bad! Never mind the fact that having the license longer would get them more money than not having the license.

Someone doesn't understand how licencing and contracts work

I have an idea, but i've never seen a gaming company do something like this

Based on the wording of the "Moment of Truth" collection announcement, i would say no.

Shameless plug, but I have.

Well the good news is that the exact same thing is happening with Silent Hill and Dark Deception. It's likely to happen with other games like Fortnite and Paladins, where crossover skins will be unavailable after a certain time (only skins since these games don't licence characters). It isn't an uncommon practice in terms of licencing IPs.

One of those things we will probably never know, but I agree with @Orion I don't think they expected this.

No I doubt they knew when they made the deal originally I just assume they knew Netflix was unhappy before know.

They had been talking about giving demo an add-on pass since in between blight and twins releases I think? I know it was mentioned in a Q&A section of a developer update way before it happened.
I really doubt they knew this was going to happen as far back as that.

I do think they knew before this announcement, but not for very long. They'd have made the announcement earlier, especially with a PTB dropping tomorrow (not officially, but y'know).

I feel like part of the reason why they are losing it is the lack of representation given how little the 3 are played.
Steve has never had good perks and they never really tried to buff them enough to get people to want Steve.
Nancy has the best perks of the bunch but is stuck in an overpriced bundle with Steve an Demo.
Demo always was a mediocre killer but that was due to a lack of any cohesion in their abilities and add-ons.
The community complained about all these issues that were causing Stranger Things to be less popular for literal years but the developers refused to listen and now they are sleeping in the bed they made.

Steve is a really popular survivor in my experience

Steve has been MIA for me and a lot of other people for months.
Some regions seem to love him but not all.

Steve and Nancy are quite popular, it's Demobabes that you never see and that's because at high ranks he isn't that variable
