Looking for a thread regarding PS4 fix
So a couple of weeks, I recall a thread created by someone where in the posts they gave out some info and steps to fix the frame drop issue on PS4 by running the game off a particular usb drive(or something similar). I tried using the search tool but couldn't find it. Does anyone remember what that thread was?

People have fixed the frame drop issues on PS4 and PS4 Pro by using an SSD (internal or external) . It is an expensive fix, however.
Edit: This is probably the specific thread you're talking about
It was also talked about in the console optimization thread. I posted a bunch of before and after videos in this specific post

Not a valid solution without Cross Progression. Who with thousands of hours into this game and whatever monies spent would start all over from scratch? You know what the grind is like...

You have that much free time that you come to a PS4 thread to talk about this?
6 -
That's exactly it, thanks! Are you sure it's expensive? From what I seen on that thread, the SSD cable is around $10 I believe.
Sure, show me how to get thousands of dollars in a few days/weeks and I'll be glad to do so.
6 -
I don't know about the cost of a cable if you already own an SSD, but the drive itself is expensive if you don't already have one. I got a Samsung T5 SSD; it only holds 1TB and it's currently listed at $130. I chose that one because it was the affordable option.

Ah, never mind what I said then. I guess in fact you do need a ssd for the cable to work. Oh well.
Still, I just wanted to see the thread for future reference in case this issue is not going worked on anytime soon. Thanks again for finding it.

Are you sitting down? This might shock you, but not everyone likes playing on PC.

Hey, it's you again! The guy who keeps telling people to spend thousands of dollars in order to play a 5 year old game!
Stop trolling people genuinely looking for help.

Or they could fix the game for the system I bought it on

I think you have me confused for someone else. This is the first time I have mentioned purchasing a PC.
That being said if someone isn't going to take the steps they need to troubleshoot their console then they have no one but themselves to blame for issue they are having. As several have mentioned before the game stopping issues that are being complained about are not being experienced by everyone. That in and of itself decreases the likely hood that it is the game.
Those coming to the forums/joining a "90 page thread" comprised of posts erroneously pointing their fingers at the game instead of doing what they can do to address the problems with their system have no one to blame except themselves.
Oh and by the way just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean I am trolling. I'll say it again. If you would take the time to troubleshoot your system then could potentially be like the many others not having these issues.

Sometimes when waiting between matches yes.

That's true I forgot about the game not having cross progression which would be nice.
1 -
Cross progression will never happen for the very reason people want it. To leave console for PC, and in Sony and Microsoft's eyes, that's lost revenue on subscription fees and cosmetic purchases.

I am curious what troubleshooting could we do? I am aware of how to clear the system cache on my Xbox (apparently it's unplug everything and count to 60) and like two internal checks for internet connection (not speed or stability, just a working connection). Mine is still under warranty so I won't be opening it up.
Google and YouTube results pretty much only talk about internet connections as well. What else is there?
3 -
Go read a book or something, dude.
2 -
And yet, every time I've asked you what I should be troubleshooting, you've lacked an answer.

I know you have already been linked to the post you were looking for but regardless if you want to increase your FPS you could reduce the resolution down to 720p. Downsides are that it'll be less sharp, especially on a large monitor. People commenting on that post seem happy with it though:
How to increase frames on ps4 and ps4 pro — Dead By Daylight

That is for to determine. Not me, not BHVR but you since are the one having the issue with your system. If your not going to do what you can to address your issue you have no one to blame but yourself.
I question if you really want to get the issues you are experience fixed or if you even have actually have any game stopping issues your or if you just come here to complain. With as much time as you spend on the forums complaining about your issues, complaining anytime gives you advice all you do is ignore it, give excuses, etc. you could have possibly fixed them.

That's weird, I can play the same character on FFXIV on PC and PS4. Do you think it's genre specific or something? I would love to be able to play on PC sometimes and PS4 other times. Which I do.. But my PC progress sucks and so it's not nearly as fun.

Dead hard as a killer is ridiculous. It litterally pauses for half a second when they use it and its costing me hits. As survivor, same happens when survivors get hooked.
Garbage performance and its getting worse with each chapter.

Tells people to troubleshoot.
Refuses to elaborate.
Leaves.

Sony charges for cross progression to make up for possible income loss due to someone buying cosmetic/dlc on one platform and then playing on ps4/5. If you play a game with cross progression with playstation it means that dev/publisher is paying for it to be available.

So is it really that BHVR can't/won't pony up for cross progression? Not that any of us on the outside would really know but that seems like a reasonable assumption to me.I wonder if any developer has ever just straight up charged per-user for cross progression?

Unlikely.
I'vs tried everything, and if you'd look at the thread, you'd see people have suggested possible fixes, none of which have worked.
You haven't given any advice. All you've said is "it isn't BHVR it's you, just buy a PC lol"
1 -
I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that pay to have cross progression in their game have worked it into things like battle passes and cosmetic sales.

Honestly, for me upgrading to the SSD did the trick. My wife and I play side by side on the same connection and sometimes I can pretty dramatically see the difference when she gets performance hits- and we have the same ping around 40-50. It feels like it's lack of caching maybe due to memory limitations on the PS4 or something, so it's accessing the SLOW 5,400 RPM HDD at critical moments. The SSD seems to smooth that out quite a bit.
I don't think this puts BHVR off the hook as it certainly feels like an issue that could be fixed by optimizing how their code works, prioritizing memory and disk reads while in play..
Of course, I'm just talking out my ear, here. I am not a programmer.
