Devs, why you are so sadistic? (tome challenges)

Title.

Why putting challenges that will FORCE YOU to play badly? I've a good example for both sides:

- for killers there is a challenge with the clown that will force you to lose the game (use the afterpiece tonic on a survivor and neutralize his effect with the antidote... For 2 times)

- as survivor you have to literally follow the killer from 10 meters for 30 seconds, using a (almost) worthless perk (calm spirit) , without doing nothing except being a deadweight for your team

All this is extremely frustrating and dumb

I understand the Calm Spirit one being bad for making a survivor basically useless for a period of time, but I don't understand your reasoning for the Clown challenge? I did this challenge on my first attempt, and still 3k'd. I rarely play Clown (he is still level 40 from when I unlocked his perks). Not that it matters, but I was red rank and playing against all red rank survivors when I did it. This challenge was very easy.

I did too. I killed her teamates then let her live if she would help me with challenge which she did.

Once I get to level 70, I'm not bothering with rift passes. Maximum grind for minimal reward. I spend too much time on games anyway.

I'm going to just play occasionally, casually with people I know.

I used to be annoyed they dont reward finishing an entire page. Now I am glad, I just leave those kind of challenges. The ones that make it unfun are stupid, Im not going to get a headache over 30k bps

It also makes people do things that ruin the match, like someone spawning in and sabotaging 4 hooks telling the killer where we all are.

I find that this challenge wasn't that difficult esp when my teammates were kind of dead weight anyways when I did the challenge (thanks to huntress lullaby)

I did the second one (with Calm Spirit) just today and it turned out to be one of the best games I've had in some time.

My teammates almost instantly started celebrating a basement party with unsafe unhooks right in front of the killer without BT (typical SWF gameplay), with one particularly bad survivor being dead already at 4 gens, one dead on hook and the other one hooked once. I basically gave up the game at this point and thought why the hell I always have to get these teammates.

In the end I and one teammate managed to finish the gens and escape, I got a double pip for the game (so I did quite a bit of everything that match) and still completed the "30 seconds unseen within 10 meter" challenge. Love those games where it looks really bad and then you still make it, happens rarely in solo queue and with a "sabotage your team" challenge it's even better.

As for the clown challenge ... yeah, I was lucky the survivors noticed I was throwing the match to get this challenge done and helped me. Was just about time that killers get a "do something stupid that doesn't help you" challenge as well, though. It's usually just survivors that get these.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I still like these challenges more than the boring stuff like "earn x emblems of y quality" or "just grind it" challenges such as "drop 100 pallets while in a chase".

For 3 matches, I ran Small Game and Counterforce, then told my friends, "All right, I'll see you all in hell." As I ran off into the Mist on my cleansing journey. That challenge was awful. I'm glad it only took three games, and my friends were kind enough to keep the cleanses for me.

I didn't get it twice now even with the survivors cooperation because someone dcd on there first down and I was just crushing them so I played nice and all 3 of them ran from on and stood in the other multiple times

Calm spirit one is fine. Tomes that force you to try other perks are more interesting even from the people you verse.

However the killer one is pointless, I just trapped a survivor at a loop and forced it.

Killer challenges always tend to be the harder or more luck based last tome hitting 2 people with one spray of corrupt puke twice in a match.... no. Lol

I killed my team doing the calm spirit one. Luckily they were not mad and understood.

Nothing fine about telling a player to follow the killer around and be useless to his team.

You dont have to, it's just within a certain range which means you can just hide near the gen you was working on, hide at the loop you're at while the killer passes or be on a multi floor map and get it while he walks under/around etc.

But like most challenges people just rush them and only focus on them, pretty sure it's only 30 seconds too

It's obvious that the people writing the Tome challenges don't play the game.

Hiding within 10 meters of a killer for 30 seconds isn't all that difficult to do, it just requires a bit of luck. If you're trying to get it done in one match then sure you're probably going to screw up, but just have it on, and play some matches until the opportunity presents itself.

Best course of action is to stick with other survivors, and then ensure you hide better than they do. They get chased and downed within your vicinity, and you can sneak around behind the killer until they leave the hook. You score an unhook, help your team, and get the challenge done all at the same time.

I managed to get it and have three of us escape, including me.

Don't follow the other survivor. It's waste time and throw your game, you can offer 2 layers maps likes Midwich, RPD or The Game instead.

These two released mere minutes ago and they're positioned right next to one another.

    I mean. Damn.

Break FORTY Pallets/Generators/Walls? That's super grindy. Just had a Pig who just sat there asking me to tap a gen so they could get a bunch of them. I also threw a bunch of pallets for them. Hopefully they got a lot of them done in that one game.

Unhook FIFTEEN survivors? Also super grindy.

Hook 10 survivors in the basement? Oh boy. Trapper time I guess.

You don't need to do these challenges if it sounds stupid for you. Just deny this way in the Rift. You still have many other ways to earn BloodPoints or Rift Points.

The survivor one i just equiped the perk calm spirit and got the reward just by doing gens near him, i don't think it's that bad. The one with the tonic is absolutely impossible to get without throwing the whole game. You'd have to be very lucky to be in an a loop of the perfect size where the survivor just stays there and doesn't hold W so you could setup the right tonics at the right time.
