I think the next killer will burn the Survivor
Let's take a look at what we have. I've noticed that there are more and more elements that point to some kind of burn. Look at the last outfit of the Huntress which shows her in a burnt state. The same goes for her charm or Billy's pyro outfit. If we look at what we have so far for elements or weapons. There are for example: Electro, poison, traps, gas, viruses, chainsaws, chains, harpoon, axes, knives, clubs, throwing knives and so on. But what we don't have yet is some kind of: Burned status effect and the corresponding element or weapon. Wouldn't that be something cool ? What do you think?

If it were a fire killer, I imagine it would have an ability similar to Doctor's where you can spread it in front of you.

For sure. Hopefully it's a good status effect and not like Hemmorage/Oblivious. not even sure why hemmorage is still in the game and they seem obsessed with oblivious.

Fire and water seem to be the only two base human fears without a killer associated. that, and exposure to animals (huntress, arguably).

Traditionally, fire effects are absolutely monstrous for performance. I hope not, given the track record here....

A Flamethrower is the only way i can see Fire being used to attack Survivors. A Pyromaniac killer could be nice, they might be too strong tho. They could use fire for direct damage, status effect debuff and anti- loop. For Sure they'd be a slow killer and a locker gas container recharge killer aswell to offset their ability to hunt and catch survivors. Basicly another slow ranged killer except he has anti looping that's easier to use than DeathSlinger.
Problems : how useful is the Burnt status effect? How will survivors deal with it, they'll go search for fire extinguishers? How long would the anti-loop flame wall last? If 2 fire walls would be used in the same loop then it's game over for survivors. they either get hit by M1 or flames. I doubt they'd let you put 2 flame walls in the same loop.

I think a flamethrower is overkill. What I personally could imagine would be a kind of pyromaster or flame spitter. Let's take a look at Nemesis. If the fire attack has exactly the same range as Nemesis' tentacle, that wouldn't be so bad, would it? Survivor should not burn permanently that would not be realistic. But being burned would be a possibility. Then you might have to go to crates to treat your burned wounds....or something like that. It's not that easy, right?

It'd be cool if the killer had some sort of passive ability to leave trails of fire, kind of like PH, but always and they stay in the environment for less time.

I think the way a Flamethrower power could work, is that it immediately applies the deepwound, and as long as survivors remain within the area of effect, sprinting doesn't pause the timer. So if you're chasing someone while spraying, their deepwound is constantly ticking down, and if they can't evade the spray or block LoS, then they're going down.
It might be called something else and have a burnt-like effect on the survivor, but mechanically it would be identical to deepwound, in that once they have evaded you, they need to 'tend to their burns' or 'mend' to prevent from losing another health state.
Kinda like... Bubba crossed with Legion, with slightly more range than Bubba but no speed increase from Legion.

I'd want a killer that pours fuel on the ground and can light it, sort of like a trap killer. Fire causes burning which has to be extinguished or survivor gets burn damage. I guess it's kinda like deep wounds but maybe they could make it different somehow
Maybe the killer could have a molotov as a special ability that they have to earn somehow (since throwing it is much easier than pouring and lighting)

I actually had a concept for a fire killer.
It was " Bloody Mary " since the historical figure who got the name was Mary I, Queen of England. AKA Mary Tudor.
She earned the name for burning 300 Protestants at the stake.
I think a female killer with some ghostly phantom-like floating legs in a huge skirt and Edwardian or Elizabethan wig would just be aesthetic goals.

All I’m picturing right now is a fire-retardant suit wearing psychopath with a flamethrower slowly walking towards a survivor then burning a hole through their chest, all the whole thinking they’re in a cotton-candy filled dreamland where everything is fun and happy and filled with rainbows
and all you can hear is the screams of a burning survivors, and the mumbled laughter of a deranged lunatic…

Burned status effect could be;
* Only healed by medkits (burn gel) or water as an item of counter
* burned player cries louder with pain and more frequently with minor penalties to repairing and healing.
