PS5 ray tracing yet?
I have not seen anything definitive on whether the PS5 version is RT yet.
Thanks...

No, it does not have RT.
Does PC have it?

It's scheduled to get RT. The PS5 version. Many articles on this, that's why I ask if it was implemented yet.
0 -
There is no Raytracing in this game yet. And I hope that the game gets optimized better before they add a Feature for the few select people who were able to buy a Next Gen-Console or RTX-GPU.
9 -
You will need some kind of rt cores/hardware, unless u want to run with like 3 fps. The only gpus that has hardware accelerated rt support is rtx and rx 6000 gpus. They're proberly also gonna add DLSS and/or FSR to help with the performance drop of RT.
0 -
Obviously. But I am not really a fan of adding Raytracing while large portions of the playerbase cannot experience the game without lags or freezes.
8 -
The freezes and lagspikes is mostly cpu related, not gpu, and fsr works on most gpus, also older ones, so adding that would be a win for all players
0 -
The article specifically says PS5. So I could care less about the PC version, even though I have a 3070Ti.
PS5 upgraded version runs like butter and its gorgeous...
1 -
Dead by Daylight currently does not support Ray Tracing
1 -
There will not be raytracing until the game is better optimized.
1 -
Not true. And like I said it runs just fine on the mighty PS5.
1 -
RT on DbD? What for? Can the game even run with RT? The game can't handle DH but will handle RT on Consoles? Yeah right...
2 -
No it doesn't.
3 -
Lol. I knew it was stupid starting a thread around a bunch 5yr old (or older) PC builds & PC fanbots who complain their 10 series GPU can't run DbD 'properly' and it needs optimized...
BOOM
1 -
Yes, BHVR has made a lot of claims about things they're "working on" which are then never heard about again.
And the game does not necessarily run just fine on the PS5: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/276073/doctor-is-still-making-the-game-lag-on-next-gen-consoles
Before BHVR goes adding awesome new visuals to the game, they should get the current visuals working for the very large percentage of their playerbase, because most console players are on Xbox One, PS4, and Switch, not the hard-to-find next-gen consoles.
To answer your question, RT is not in the game and there is no due date for it. Just like cross-progression on the Switch and a ton of other things that are "coming." Given how many times the date for cross-progression on the Switch has been pushed back, even if the date for RT is announced I would not expect anything. Until it is in the game it's just a dream.

Unfortunately they've decided to stick around with the outdated last gen consoles/ hardware, so that'll take up some time as they waste resources on trying to get the game working on that mess.
Hopefully that changes once more people get the chance to upgrade.
0 -
Damn, forgot people shouldn't be able to play a 5 year old game on the SAME CONSOLE'S THAT WERE OUT AT THAT TIME.
There is no reason why DBD can't hit a stable 30 FPS on current-gen Consoles. It's been explained and BHVR has repeatedly said that simply telling people to buy a new system is not an acceptable answer.
7 -
There are plenty or reasons why the game could be struggling with last gen. The game is obviously not what it once was 5 years ago.
Besides more content, the graphics were improved and with the planned implementation of ray tracing it'll get even better. This is something that last gen can't even dream of supporting.
You and anyone else can settle for last gen, I'm fine with that. If they can get the game stable for you then that's wonderful.
However I still think that it is wasteful to focus on consoles that will continue to have less of a user base as more time passes by and current consoles become more available.
0 -
You realize the current chip shortage isn't going to end until 2023, right? That's two years from now.
There are no reasons besides the fact that it is poorly optimized.
Are you going to say that Battlefront II and Red Dead Redemption 2 are less intense and therefore run better than DBD? This game doesn't look anywhere CLOSE to those two games, yet it runs at 20+ FPS less and it freezes and crashes frequently.
0 -
Again, I have no issues if they decide to deal with the mess of getting the game to run well on last gen. As I've said, I still think that it is a waste, this will be a continuous effort not just a one and done update where they can leave and move on. We've already seen this to be the case when a later update messed with their fix.
Yes I am also aware of such shortage, hence me hoping for the consoles to be made more available for people.
Also, rt will be too much to handle for last gen. No amount of optimization is going to get it working there. But I guess if last gen is still a thing by the time rt is out for this game then they could settle by making rt an option in the settings.
0 -
They've had no issues excluding Consoles from having graphical options in the past.
What's one more?
0 -
Exactly, minecraft already has that option in there, you just can't use it. It is annoying. Thankfully my brother has a pc so I have at it over there.
I believe that part of the reason why the new tech is slowly being implemented is not just because of the pandemic but also because developers have to take resources to focus on last gen. I have always disliked this but I understand why it's done. Not everyone has the chance to upgrade, especially in these times
It is unfortunate and wasteful. I'm sure that if times were normal then they'd be more focused with the latest stuff and not be as cumbered by the problems of last gen.
0 -
This is literally the fault of poor optimization.
Even back in 2017 when the game was first ported, it ran at like 20 FPS. It's always run poorly and it's getting worse for EVERYONE.
Sorry to at you, but @GoodBoyKaru is one person whose PC was having some issues when RE came out. They can attest that it is not simply a "last-gen problem."
0 -
Oh god it's 100% not just last gen consoles. My pc could hit 60 as Nemesis with some stuttering but oh my god the heat. I was genuinely melting just by existing nearby it, to the point I had to take the side off and shove a damn tower fan there to keep it cool.
I think it cost £1.5k, though this was custom built not by us with warranty attached.
0 -
It is the fault of many things, one of them being having to keep the game working on outdated devices. I'm sure a cheap pc will have problems as well. No doubt about that.
0 -
If 1.5 grand is cheap to you then...
0 -
Sorry, I didn't mean it like that.
0 -
That's almost 2000 USD.
That's literally an expensive PC.
If you can't see something wrong with that then idk what to tell you.
1 -
Prices are inflated right now for obvious reasons.
No, there's nothing wrong with that price. People are to blame for demanding products in limited quantities as well as there being shortages.
Also, there are people that are re selling at a higher price than normal so you need to be careful on who you buy from.
Sellers on Amazon are even taking advantage and even places like Walmart.
But all of that is besides the point, stop getting into side topics. This is about rt on the ps5, which is a plan that the devs have already expressed to be pursuing.
I personally can't wait for it and hope that it comes soon but I'm just being hopeful. I'm sure they have their hands full already, unfortunately.
0 -
I have a 3080 & a Ryzen 5950x and I still get stutters, the game is optimized terribly.
5 -
They also said they were putting 60 FPS on Xbox One and PS4.
4 -
Oh, that's nice. So how did that work out?
Hopefully rt doesn't meet the same fate but you never know.
0 -
This.
These devs set a goal of getting their game 60fps for each any every platform wayyyy back in March 2019. Silence on this ever since. Kinda still waiting.
I said this before but it's worth repeating: The absolute best thing they ever did is port their game on over to the consoles, and the absolutely worst thing they ever did is port their game on over to the consoles.
2 -
Yes, they’ve added it and you can get a stable 8 FPS with it based off of their optimization ability.
0 -
It didn't.
0 -
I know, it was rhetorical.
Anyway, here's hoping that such a mess isn't repeated with rt.
Can you imagine how gorgeous this game could look with all that light. I mean just look at minecraft, so pretty.
0 -
Bruh i started DbD on Console 3 years ago, i've switched to PC because of the RE Chapter hillarious disaster launch...the game never got any better on console and does not run FINE on new gen consoles. There's tons of evidence it doesn't. Until the game is optimized ,which it never will, having RT is a waste of resources.
1 -
your joking right? a ps5 couldnt handle raytracing with dbd lol. bad enough without you need a high end rig for raytracing
1 -
Add "-DX12" to the startup parameters of DBD in steam.
0 -
The one issue I have with this option is that Steam overlays appear on recordings.
0 -
That is a part of game optimization my friend, and we dont do that in here
2 -
I'm pretty sure since they updated the UE engine with 4.2.0 there's already some kind of ray tracing.
Just look for all this reflexions, like water and light effects. Even windows of oppurtunity shows reflexions sometimes.
0 -
Hey thanks for the tip, I actually had DX12 in my parameters but the most recent patch i was getting terrible micro stutters, I removed DX12 and now I only get large spikes during the game, very frustrating!
0 -
Thats just some rasterized reflections, proberly ssr. The problem with those "faked" reflections is that only things on the screen appears in those reflections. Here's a video to show what i mean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCXVG0Qw7Fo
0 -
Dude you know both the ps5 and xbox series s/x has "ray accelerators" (which amd calls their cores for hardware accelerated rt), right? Also the gpu's in them are pretty good, above the average "gaming pc" gpu. (Around the same performance as an 6600 XT or RTX 3060 (ti?), or RTX 2070 super). They can run some ray tracing without any problems, unless you play 4k and want stable 60 fps with many ray traced settings turned on.
0 -
Looks more like SSR, maybe you're right. But yeah, BHVR talked about their plans before adding ray tracing. But they really need to be carefull. At this point performance should be the mainfocus. When they add real ray tracing, things can get even worse. At least we would need an option to activate / deactive it. And some kind of perfomance / graphic mode for ALL plattforms. Pretty sure XSX and PS5 doesn't even have 'ultra' settings yet, i'd say it's 1 setting below. And although both next gen consoles could run it easily, they still don't have STABLE 60 fps on all maps.
1 -
Idk why they people always gotta say “buy a new console”. Like please they’re so hard to find and not everyone has the money for it.
0 -
Of course it will be completly optional to use any kind of ray tracing, and gpus without any kind of hardware accelerated rt wont even be able to run it. So even if the performance is very bad, it can just be disabled in the settings. It's not like they're gonna make DBD only run on ray tracing, that would kill the player base lol
