DBD chat filter
I think its hilarious to have a chat filter in a game where we run around and torture people and then kill them.

To be fair the chat from toxic players is bad sometimes, with people telling others to ######### and what not over a game. Helps content creators too I guess?

If you dont wanna read chat just close it, not sure why they censored swear words in an m rated game.

I was all for the chat filter. I want to say "gg" and stay there for some wholesome interactions, and not get called a slur.
Now, though, when "Frank's" is blurred, as is "but", as is "Deutsch" (which is German for... German) it's less of a good idea.

The chat filter itself is a joke. I've never seen a chat filter filtering the word "you" in my life. Well, before DbD, that is.

Today it blocked out "Adam"

We wouldn't have a chat filter if we had a decent community, but BHVR recognized how ass its playerbase is and moved to attempt to fix the issue. But BHVR being BHVR the chat filter is a complete mess and fails to pacify the endgame chat in any capacity.

They could've at least made it optional, like in other games. They also could've made it functional, but it's BHVR. At least adding an option to turn off the filter wouldn't be rocket science for them, or so I hope.

Dead by Daylight has one of the worst communities I have ever seen in gaming. The chat filter is necessary, because grown adults are somehow unable to manage their tempers and instead throw massive toddler tantrums over a video game.
The filter itself could do with some tuning, though. Many instances of it censoring innocuous words.

Maybe it’s to “keep things civil” so as to not hurt people’s feelings. Because God forbid you use a naughty word in an M-rated game.
One of the reasons for the game being rated M is “Strong Language”, go figure.

There's a difference between a swear word and a "######### you stupid useless [slur of choice]", and rather unfortunately the latter was rather present.
I will agree the execution is incredibly flawed, but the actual premise of "People cannot say slurs" isn't a bad philosophy, regardless of game genre.

i mean, a chat filer in itself is fine.
but a MANDATORY chat filter for everyone - especially when it works as poorly as the one in DbD - is just a pain.

I wasn’t talking about slurs, more so “swear” words - which people also get sensitive about. It’s okay for Ash to say he defecates in tall grass but I can’t in chat? Thanks, BHVR.
I’m on console so I don’t even see the in-game chat but people still use Xbox Messaging to send you colorful messages. Xbox is pretty consistent and fast about banning specific words/phrases though.

They did that to save money on moderation team, now they don't have to reports about end game chat.

I get a giggle wherever I think of this.

I was able to say Da*n and sh*t in Endgame, its the random things that get censored for me. But also I didn't use those swear words in a negative context, only by themselves.

No filter is better than a broken filter.

I still appreciate the chat filter but most of the time it's actually busted. Sometimes it filters "gg", sometimes it filters in-game things, and then other times someone will tell you to ######### among other things and the chat filter doesn't do anything
