How do you have fun in DBD?

Dumb question, I know. But I'm just curious to hear how people have fun in this game.

I'm not making this thread because I'm not having fun in DBD, I still enjoy the chases and snowballing as Killer. But I'm curious what the community thinks is fun.

Do you need to win? Do you need to get a certain amount of kills? Do you just need to have a good chase with the killer to have fun? Just curious. o/

I personally find the zaniness of dbd to be the funnest part about it. I don't care so much if i win or lose, just how entertaining each match is. DBD has the perfect amount of jank and community in jokes that even 5 people with 0 methods of communication can make silly/fun things happen. Thats what i live for in this game, its why i love it because the funnies that happen in this game don't happen anywhere else.

Oh my god you just reminded me of a game I had.

I was playing with my girlfriend and we got Myers on Ormond.

He started out playing normally but out of nowhere he just started serving us drinks in the counter in the main building. We both laughed out loud when it happened.

You gotta love those random moments when both sides are memeing.

I don't, I'm just addicted at this point and waiting for SBMMR to come out again so I can actually have fun.

Not being butthurt when losing a game. If I lose, it was most likely my fault (at least as Killer, as Survivor I might get killed by teammates, but even if this is the case, whatever, it is just a game).

Thats basically all. I played this game for too long to actually be triggered about it.

As killer it's definitely trying wacky builds lol. Lately I've been having so much fun with Hysteria, Tinkerer, Dark Devotion, and Nemesis lol.

As survivor, it's difficult for me since I mostly play solo, but it's definitely the chases. I love me a good chase!

First thing I suggest: stop running meta things. Meta builds will give your opponent the incentive to play a lot more sweaty just to keep up, especially if they dont run a full meta build.

Second thing: get creative, one of my favourite builds to run right now is Slippery Meat, Up The Ante, Second Wind and Autodidact. It's a challenge to use Autodidact to charge up Second Wind before your first hook so you can unhook yourself. None of it is a guarantee, but it's a lot of fun and an absolute gamechanger if you pull it off(also an absolute game changer if you do not pull it off). Up The Ante with Slippery Meat ensures you're able to unhook yourself about 70% of your games, giving it a lot of worth when you play an entire session.

I just have fun in general as the vast majority of the matches I get are somewhere in the neutral to good range. Not making any claim about how often others have bad games as that can vary based on everything from sheer luck to their mindset and goals, but for me when I became aware of how much negativity bias influenced my enjoyment of the game it got a lot better for me in particular.

I might get annoyed but in the end I just jokingly say "Unlucky" to myself and forget about it by the time I'm in the next match.

NO. and with my friends we stop playing it until they solve the problem of the malfunction in the console. We play lots of other games for fun but dbd doesn't

I'm having fun when the chase is not short, when the killer or survivor are not annoying with a certain perk and when players lose/win without mocking the others.

I'm having fun once in a while.

Get in a good swf group and just have a cj. But if you’re trying to have fun with killer. You gonna have to pick a killer that doesn’t suck (like blight) and then listen to the salt after the match.

I have fun by not taking it to seriously and understand that I will die more than I would survive.

The only way i have fun in DbD is by absolutly not caring about anything. IF i start caring if i'm doing well then that's when i start getting tilted cause for me to do well it's all up to RNG. I could do the best i can, humanly speaking, but be faced with RNG that won't let me have chance. IF i care i lose, that's how i am with DbD.

Mess around stop caring about sweating and winning play normall but mess around play casual don't Sweat over win it most of time is the reason why ppl are ao frustrated in this game because everyone looks just for win

Lately as a killer i havent had as much fun. Mostly due to the toxicity from the survivors. Feels like the game is full of arseholes at the moment. every other game you get someone saying something nasty or doing something nasty

I've learnt not to take it so serious and get bothered by others playing dumb or unfair. I go on for good chases as survivor and continue to practice my hatchets on huntress which is super fun.

Having a win/lose mindset in dbd it just guaranteeing you will pretty much not have fun imo so it's best to learn to just play to play.

Oh and the memes, the memes in game can be hilarious.

Dunno why people are saying they have no fun but continue to play it, either you're lying or go play something else you will enjoy lol.

I just don’t take the game seriously. Solo queue is fun for the randomness of it and killer is fun since I don’t care about 4king

Honestly I think not caring is the best way to enjoy DBD.

My girlfriend sometimes has a hard time playing the game because it can frustrate her, but I just stopped caring about how it is for both sides.

Yeah once you realise this game is rng centred you understand that some matches are just unwinnable

I just have fun playing the game lol. Some people have fun only escaping/getting 4 sacrifices, which if that is those people goal then I can see why they would get frustrated at the game a lot lol. Either way the game can be unfun sometimes regardless, just like most games out there. They can be boring etc.

My friends and I throw and try some ridiculous challenge. Last game, the trifecta. DS, head on, flashbang. The only reason gens got done (3/5) was to get the flashbangs. Killer had almost a perfect game too! Unfortunately the killer was mad so we felt bad

As long as I land hatchet, I'm having fun. Even if i don't kill survivors, I have a blast just getting good throws

Doing dumb ######### like map geometry to get to dumb places. Also if its a stupid meme build or strategy sign me up. Recently in honour of Pinhead I brough hoarder NOED(I dont like the perk either but its pretty important for the whole gimmick) and blood warden with the last perk being swapped around of the perks i had on whichever killer. It was simple just afk until they touch a chest then go full tryhard with noed and bloodward. My ign was The Box, You Opened it and other hellraiser refrences and some were jokes like like Pinhead waiting room. All of these are best done with cross off(on PC) imo since you get more reactions than the silence of 4 console fengs.

I like playing killer and survivor. I enjoy competitive or games that people play as if they're competitive because I enjoy the feeling of out skilling or just being smarter than someone in a moment at least. Survivors only really win with knowledge and outsmarting their killer. Though the same for killer you win with killer with strategical aggression or just paying close attention to survivor actions and testing them to see what they'll do in moments while taking advantage of their mistakes and your perks.

Both are fun though survivor is a bit more fun and relaxing. Killer for me is only fun when playing certain killers. Huntress ( My Main), Blight, T1 Myers on indoor maps, Nemesis on indoor maps, Deathslinger and maybe a few others that aren't just m1 killers. M1 killers are terrible feeling because looping is still insane despite all the survivor nerfs that have come down to balance it out more. Though this will only be the case mostly against survivors that know the game and maps.

I tried to run meme builds, but every time I did this I was met with a waterfall of sweat from my opponents. So now I just camp with Bubba and gather salt from toxic SWF trolls for my amusement from time to time.
