If SBMM turns back on, RIP killer
Had the worst time playing killer last time they implemented this dogshit. I could never play casually anymore, just kept getting sweaty quagmires every match. I am really disappointed to hear this.

Play for some time and you will face opponents on your Skill Level.

I liked it better when it was on as both survivor and killer.

It will be. You will have a separate SBMM for your Survivor games as well as your Killer games. Plus each Killer will have their own SBMM.

My issue with it is how does it work with parties? Let's say you have a fresh account and a veteran player who is incredibly skilled together? How does matchmaking work? There has to be a compromise or limit somewhere with this and we all know how often new players are introduced to this game by their friends who have lots of playtime.

If they'd be willing to compensate for the time spent as an unpaid entertainer for their swf users then certainly that could be worth consideration

I agree. Unfortunatly sbmm is pretty broken. Im not the best nurse in the world, first games with her was "easy-normal", then after literally 2 games became almost impossible to play (super-organized 4 man premades, brand new, full meta build). So yeah, if SBMM will remain the same ill play only Spirit / Nurse with strongest addons & Noed, Mori etc

just to ask, when did they put sbmn on?
0 -
They didn't yet. It goes live on a permanent basis with the Pinhead DLC's patch.

way to ruin it along with a nerf that swf can abuse against him. Pinhead didn't just die... he was mori'd.

Eh. I never buy any of their killers on release anymore, if I buy them at all (last DLC I obtained was Blight). I learned a while back to wait about two months until they're done screwing around with nerfing or buffing them.

Thanks for the answer pal

I'm the opposite, I was playing Nemesis during the last test and my matches had been great!

New players start with a set point MMR. Only BHVR knows where it falls in high or low MMR.
Depending how much of a difference there is on the player's MMR.
I would guess it would take and average. So in theory the new person will get destroyed in the 1v1, while the friends with playtime will think its an easy match.
Also when the new player does good on the metric's that are measured, his MMR adjust quite a bit due to the killer's MMR being higher. The playtime friends MMR's will adjust very little, due to the killer's MMR being lower compared to them.

What do you spend your shards on, then? Cosmetics?

Nope. I've never purchased a single cosmetic through any means. I am sitting on a lot of shards. Once in a great while I will grab a perk that I want off the shrine, but that's about it.

Being a casual player, I had a much better time when the SBMM was on. I unfortunately have to sweat far too often when I play killer given just how powerful SWF can be. I like this game, but sweating consistently is not enjoyable. Obviously I don't want anyone to experience that, but if you've played this game long enough and consistently enough to be good enough to sustain a red rank, then I don't see what the big deal is. You'll be facing people of similar skill. And making people who have invested thousands of hours play against people who only invested a few hundred doesn't make for a fun matchmaking experience.

What kind of loadout are you usually using?
It would make sense to get matched with people that bring strong stuff if you did too
1 -
And just think - it's per killer! So if your baseline level of MMR is too high (as mine seems to be) I get to have "fun" for a night or two per killer until I'm allowed to have fun again! Can't wait!
/s , in case that wasn't clear.

Honestly that's a great point. I had a match where my rank 13 Wraith was facing off against an all red rank SWF. Naturally they walked all over me, but I was like, "WTH?!". I inquired on the forums just why such a thing would happen, and other gamers pointed out that not only did I have a very strong build, but I also had very strong add-ons. If I used that nasty combo against lesser skilled gamers, it would have resulted in a complete wash.
So it does take into account your rank, but it also seems to factor in what you're bringing into the match too.

I'm gonna miss having varied matches. The randomness was the fun part.

My oni games were super fun. Which is new cause my oni games are either really really easy or I just get absolutely destroyed. With the SBMM it was actually fair. On the other hand my Blight and Trickster games sucked. For Trickster it might be because I'm on console so it doesn't matter what my mmr is if I can't hit anything, but for blight it was a bit wonky. Granted I only played Blight like 8-10 matches since he came out so it might be that I need to play Blight more.

Im liking the idea i can use other killers to learn or do challenges on without tanking my rating to much.
But DBD has to many variables to be easily balanced, new players vs returning players, SWF vs solo. its going to be a nightmare.
I'd personally advocate for a limit on the amount you can have in competitve games, i.e only duos. SWF's should be for "kill your friends" mode, i.e casual and not ranked, it would also be a good way for players to learn and practise without having a mmr drop.
