Here's proof stretch res is complete bs
Try an deny it that it doesnt give an advantage now.

"bro it just looks better I promise"

I thought we agreed Stretched Res was cheating.
It obviously gives an advantage to whomever uses it.

This is for those who say it doesn't give an advantage

Doesn't matter if it's cheating or not I doubt BHVR fixes it. I don't care who you are though I hope you get hardware banned if you do this. If BHVR makes it a part of the game sure but until then I consider it cheating.

The only people who say "it doesn't give an advantage" are the people using it and they don't want the devs to fix it.

I always looked at stretched res in a single way and thought people were overreacting,
"Yes it is an advantage, but its very minimal" is what I first thought, since I was only looking at the chase aspect, and in chase it doesnt really help. Its to prepare for a chase
Being on a gen and being able to see over a wall where normally you wouldnt be able to see a cloaked Wraith or Tinkerer Hillbilly heading your way is huge, you can essentially get a head start in a chase and get to the nearest safe point unharmed where otherwise you would of been hit
Yeah Ive changed my stance on stretched res, its absolute bs

Bro! i need to do this for the game to run on my pc. /s
6 -
Lmfao there is literally a streamer kid with 400~ viewers saying excatly that.
Like seriously get a better machine and stop cheating. But even then people like that will say "uhh bro, but im used to it"

Reminds me of how people change their filters to make scratch marks neon red & then say they have eyesight problems or something.
5 -
No one that argued in favor of stretched res was ever doing so thinking that it did nothing.
People that used it/knew what it did.....used it and/or knew what it did.

One of the colorblind modes (Protanopia(Green-red)) actually makes it look like that. So if they are running it on that. I don't wanna doubt them if they say they have an eyesight problem because they could actually be colorblind.
It's the only one that fits what you were saying. I'm not really saying your wrong, just letting you know one of the colorblind modes just make red look kinda..neon more brighter I guess.

Its not really too hard to fix.
Most games have resolution settings. Now technically you can add every resolution from 4k(3840 x 2160) to 800x600 but often its not worth trouble for dev to add all the possible resolutions. so typically you'll choose like 4-5 of them. e.g1980x1080, 1600x1024, 1280x1024, 1024x768, 800x600 than disallow user to change anything beyond resolutions provided. I am not sure if it is even possible to run DBD in 4k but they could add that one.
I am not 100% entirely sure why DBD does this but I think it is because DBD tries to maintain aspect ratio so that nothing on screen gets cut off but it seems that doing that changes field of view.
A small difference in field of view will not provide advantage in gameplay but very large one such as what is shown in the video will provide an advantage so it is more about trimming the large extremes rather than removing it. 1080x1080 stretch resolutions should not be allowed as that is not a native resolution.

I can’t believe anyone needs to see proof for something obvious.

most people I see on twitter disagree that it's bad

Well when youre looking in a crowd of monkeys all youre gonna find is monkeys

Stretched res is cheating and the vpn he's advertising should be viewed the same way going into servers you don't belong in
2 -
Well, sorry to say it but he OBVIOSLY didn't apply the stretched res parameters to the horizontal so it would fit a wide screen! Doing so blatantly shows the most OBVIOS reason why playing Stretched res isn't an "Advantage or Cheating"... Everyone ends up looking "Fat as ######### Boi!!!"
No one wants to play a character that looks like they could be hit by a blind man, with no sense of balance, in a echo chamber because your so fat that you literally FILL said chamber!
OBVIOUSLY, you/he just don't understand the visual plight of what a full Stretched res player has to deal with!
This whole argument is flawed, juvenile, discredited, and unsound! GOOD DAY SIR!

TBF there's a billion other place VPN can be used for

I mean, my vision is pretty bad and I lose chase pretty easily. Neon scratches probably WOULD help. Lol.

He should try moving his camera up instead of staring at the floor on native. Works wonders.
3 -
I remember when people would change settings so that Redstain was so bright it was too easy adapting to mindgames from killers. I heard it was patched so this should happen as well.

I have to post this image every single time.
11 -
Well, the devs don't seem to agree for some reason.

Where is it from?

To be fair, it is hard to punish it.

Another bad gameplay work from BHVR.
I mean, all other company are careful to not give an advantage that depends of graphics option or screen ratio.
The advantage is huge here, it's crazy. I'm not using stretched and will never use it but honestly, it is in the game for years and developpers don't fix it.
zoom or un-zoom depending of the screen ratio to give exactly the same FOV from top to bottom of the screen (vertical one).

They could just make it impossible to change resolution like this, like in other games. But they just don't care.
0 -
Every time about stretch res.
4 -
And? Im still gonna cheat in the game and ruin everyones fun by hacking, you can blame the devs, not me
Its exactly the same feeling (i dont hack lol)
Yet if you need an advantage to win, it tells à lot
7 -
I really don't get people who give that excuse, it looks horrible and gives me an headache just looking at it.
3 -
Can we get this on console next patch? This will help me uh, get the game to look better... yeah.
3 -
Imagine thinking the developers actually care about us anymore.
Here's what I predict will happen:
- Mandy will see this post.
- Mandy will put this post in Feedback.
- The developers will do nothing because all posts in Feedback die and they do not care. They're still making money off of what they consider piggybanks (us) so they have no real reason to actually implement necessary changes to the game for its health.
3 -
Yeah watching the video and that's pretty goddamn bad, I hope at some point it gets worked out of the game because it's really unfair whenever each side uses it. What really confuses me are the people who played stretched rez, have completely blown out gamma and colour saturation settings and before modding support was removed, survivor skins that'd just make them glow like crazy. It's like how can you even play a game like that without your eyes melting from how awful things look? WHY would you want your game to look that awful?

This content has been removed.

He literally even showed this in the OP.
All you have to do is tilt your camera, the fact that he left his overlay there when doing it was extremly bad faith, it's really not that hard to see if you don't have a literal overlay with a darkened background and a bunch of words/pop ups hovering over it. The only stuff you could see that you couldn't see in native required such an incredibly specific angle/distance from the loop, it's such a massive over reaction to how much of an advantage it really provides.
2 -
It's not for an advantage, it just looks better, right?
7 -
oh my word this made me want to throw up, that looks disgusting
2 -
Yeah, everyone who tries to claim that stretched gives you a massive advantage always have their camera glued to the floor lol. There are much bigger issues BHVR should be worrying about. Stretched is basically a non-issue.

I'm so glad someone finally made this, I cannot stand the people who try and defend it, serious minus rep to them.
3 -
I actually clicked on this stream the other day...and exited right back out of it.

There's an easy fix. Just make every wall infinitely tall. Pog
1 -
I would love a survivor perk that increases your FOV. Wouldn't be meta but at least some people would run it. I personally would add it to my rotation since I'm getting bored of running the same perks every game.

Did you not see the video in the OP or...?
4 -
Classic straw man... "all you have to do is do more actions to get something the stretch res can see for free which demonstrates they see MORE"
When hackers enable 360-vision, these guys will come up with "guys, you can do the same... just turn your camera!!"
The point is that you can literally see over obstacles that are supposed to break lines-of-sight in ordinary aspect ratio, which removes the ability for killers to approach undetected, or mind-game some loops. That is not something that can be replicated by "just move the camera a little" as demonstrated in the video where Tru showed that by standing at a gym, normally you couldn't see over the wall except with extreme difficulty in some spots, but with stretch you absolutely can pretty much everywhere!
8 -
And Like I said, in order to be able to see over the jungle gym when you normally wouldn't be able to, an incredibly specific positioning from both you and the killer is required.
The only spot where he could see the killer and couldn't see on native, he had to be standing at the T wall while the killer had to be a neighboring tile. Were the killer in the same tile, this would mean you can see the killer when you otherwise wouldn't in such a specific scenario that it MIGHT be able to help you in a situation that you are lucky enough for a generator to be at one of these very specific angles. If the killer was any closer to the gym, you know like the momment at which its important to actually see the killer, the gym will either completely block the killer or the killer will be visible in both FOVs, it can only ever increase vision of the horizon under specific conditions.
1 -
If you mean this then I know about it. The filter I've seen makes them bright glowing red so even if they're fading you can see them from a mile away.
0 -
What does killer positioning have to do with survivor viewpoint?
You also state that "it can only ever increase vision of the horizon under specific conditions," but the extra details visible at the menu screen alone shoot this down.
5 -
"I need bright glowing neon scratch marks that I can see on the other side of the map bro, it just looks better :)"
0 -
When the evidence comes out, the whataboutism/topic shifting starts.
"Us vs Them" - unghhhhh
2 -
Err, no. This isn't even subjective. You can literally see from the video that it's possible to see the killer from a distance away with stretch that you can't without. Stop trying to straw-man the issue by narrowing the point down to something nonsensical because that's the only part you can defeat.
You get an increase in vertical FOV - fact. And that allows you to see over obstacles that you couldn't see over normally - fact. And that gives you an unintended advantage that the game/maps were not designed around/for - fact!
