MMR is going to kill the game for good players
With the Mmr system, you’re never going to have a chill game if you’re above average as a survivor or killer. Each game will be sweaty and cause a influx of the top killers like Spirit and nurse, because top players won’t really have any other options to when going against strong survivors.
Otz explains it way better so if you want you can watch his vid.

i got done watching Otz video before hopping on here. I really hope it not hooks that dictate your rank as killer. i wonder if itll be bloodpoints earned at the end of each game. Its gonna suck when you get lucky on a couple of games and start getting high ranks out of nowhere.

Haven't watched the video yet, but shouldn't the new MMR allow you to play chill if you want to once it has a good skill rating for you?
Playing chill against sweaty survivors will probably lose you matches, but at that point your skill rating should decrease until you get to a skill rating that allows you to play fairly chill, because it should match you with other players that have a similar skill level as you have when playing non-sweaty.

I play a game to get better and feel a sense of progression, if there are no visible rank or mmr and i allways get 50% win ratio it kills the progression of the game. You either introduce a proper ranked mode or you let matchmaking be random and let the more experienced killers stomp. Don't just make a mix of those where you end with something so unsatisfying as that in the long run.

I disagree

What if you absolutely accidentally win by playing chill? Won't you get a sweaty match again that you will obviously lose?

SBMM's are generally built on a grading scale and not a binary one as you fear.

This isn't news to anyone that understands the game well. Hopefully it will be the thing needed for BHVR to address the game balance and design more.

normally you will lose everytime you play chill agaisnt good survivors unless you are playing nurse with an stupid build or maybe spirit aswell and you have 2k headphones.

Well, yeah. If a player effortlessly wins against a group, they shouldn't stay farming that group because they were "chill".

I didn't say the next match, I just said a sweaty match after a chill one

I don't understand, what does farming have to do with chill matches?
0 -
Yes, people who play to win and are good at the game will go up against other people who are also playing to win and are good at the game. I don't see why this is an issue.
You can't play competitively and complain that others playing competitively makes the game not fun for you. If you don't want to go up against people who play competitively, then don't play competitively yourself. If you play competitively, then you get real competition. It's that simple.

By farming, I mean in sense of an fps game.
To farm someone, like to kill someone over and over with little to nothing they can do about it.

I don't think above average will suffer but rather only top players. Cause this game is not balanced at that level.

Sure survivors who will be facing the same 4 killers every game or killers who will have to sweat every game won't have fun regardless, and if there's no fun, what's the point of playing unless you have no life?
This game was never meant to be competitive and E-sport, and the game balance proves it

This game is old, there are a lot of good players. They all know how competitive dbd games work out and since its not balanced for competitive games, they're all bound for trashy games. I know that i dont want to play high mmr matches. Did that plenty in the past and since im not playing S-tier killers, i know my odds for the match and honestly, its a waste of time. Even the devs dont care about these type of matches, can you really blame the players for not wanting to deal with it?
Anyone who is good at the game knows how easy it is to win. For both sides, but taken to the extremes, survivors always beat most killers. And thats not skillbased, you cant do anything about it. Who wants to play that.

This is not an fps game and people do not respawn

That's besides my point. The core reason they are getting farmed is because they are being placed against someone higher in skill then they are.
That shouldn't be a thing. A bronze shouldn't go against a top 500 just because "they arent even trying". You should be playing against like skilled people.

You have to remember that BHVR goes by big data, and their data currently tells them a very different story about what is considered top tier. SBMM will hopefully allow them to finally see what we know about many killers and adjust them accordingly.

There's no way to prevent that unfortunately

That the thing with mmr lets say you are a really good blight like top 10% but you want to play some chill game so you change your perk the issue is your still in a sweaty mmr so you will get destroy in your chill game.

100% of the time, yeah there isn't anyway to stop someone from making a smurf account. But MMR can limit the amount of time they spend at low ranks by seeing how well they play and push them into a more appropriate bracket.
I get that people are apprehensive about the change, but people also have to understand that certain speculation is still pretty much pure conjecture at this point. We just have to wait and see. And it's not like the current MM is any better, so we aren't losing much anyway.
Even the one point one guy said that BHVR has no interest in balancing for competitive, because that was an off the cuff response according to what might as well be an employee's personal opinion (one who's responsibility isn't game balance) and not an official company stance.

SBMM isn't the issue, the game is the issue. It's built for the casual gamer and is extremely accessible. Accessibility lowers skill ceilings. Couple this with basic movement and environmental interactions and there's not much room for skill. There are of course outliers such as huntress for example. Huntress is a step in the right direction if you want to implement SBMM. There should be more killer designs following this direction with new unique ideas.
Agree with Otz but not for the reasons he states.
DBD's strongest marketing is through big streamers. If they don't cup their nuts the game will probably lose popularity at a noticeable rate.
Most streamers don't even seem to enjoy streaming this game as it is but don't have a choice due to financial commitments.
Other things to consider QoL (my opinion):
Widen killer FOV, fix stretched res, reduce survivor FOV, fix hit detection, reduce killer swing and hit radius (for better survivor dodge skill and killer hit interactions), give the option to remove aim assist (PLEASE!), buff stealth for both sides, fix overall sensory deprivation of killers (chase music is excessive), rework scratch marks, rework survivor objectives to incorporate other things (parts for the gens in the map to speed up gen repairs - reduced base gen speed), define what winning is for both sides, raise crap perks out of the dirt instead of nerfing good ones.

I don't think MMR would be a bad thing, but I also think that this is not the right moment to implement it, because game balance and performance still need so much work, I don't like that there's only a couple of killers and perks available at high MMR, and I wouldn't like it as survivor neither
I also think we just have to wait and see
