The Gaming World We Live in Now... just a perspective

You know the forums are gonna be filled with complaints on a release day lol xD

I love how you see all kind of discussions in here. But without a doubt you will see nothing but complaints and issues on days when something new is released. It's comical actually. We live in a day where gaming companies set unrealistic deadlines and false promises of what's gonna come out as a finished polished product. We live in a game world where we pay full price and more for an unfinished game. Remember the days when a game came out it was out?! Not anymore.

The thing is this isn't anything new, most of us are already aware of this fact. But it's funny because I think people either forget or just choose to pretend this reality doesn't exist. And the reality is we're giving our money to game companies for something that is unfinished. Of course we're patient and await for the product to be finished and give our money willingly. But it makes you wonder...

Are companies even testing anything anymore? Cause I can't tell you how many times I've bought an incomplete game or DLC content. Because I am slowly starting to wonder if these companies deserve the money for their products that aren't finished. And I'm sure many of you can recall that reality.

Note I am not talking about Early Access. There's a difference between what I am saying versus Early Access.

A lot of games are released as "early access". They are unfinished and the developers tell you so up front. Some titles are big enough to get people to purchase at price without being complete. If the company is honest about developing a game with ongoing customer feedback, I think this can work out quite well. I would be wary of smaller independant developers and companies with a bad history of failed projects.

Some people like being a part of the early access process, some don't. If you don't like early development, be patient and wait.

BHVR never fails to fail. This is just another straw in already large pile.

I should have emphasized that I was not discussion early access. I edited the post to reflect this

    People pay. End of story.

Companies see that and realize they don't have to put effort in. Or, in some cases, the game does get delayed and people start complaining. Such is the case with Cyberpunk. Clearly, the game shouldn't have come out in the state it was, even after it was delayed. I'm sure it had very little to do with the actual release date, but some Developers were literally getting death threats over the game not coming out. Then when it did come out, it was a complete and utter shitshow.

I'm just hoping to God that Elden Ring is good.

I dont really see DBD as being an unfinished game. It's more evolving than unfinished. Constant new content, new bugs and balancing issues. For a small developer, I think they do rather well, even if some of the content gets rushed and takes time to settle in.

Yep, exactly, my friend said nearly the exact same thing when I spoke with him about it. Ya how crazy is it that people would make death threats over a video game lol?!

Well I'm not dogging on BHVR. Game industry in general. But I think BHVR does a great job at throwing us BP and other goodies for their mistakes. A good customer service strategy business should always do. Not many companies even care and just say sorry. I'd say BHVR at least gives back to us. But sometimes content does feel a little rushed with little testing. It almost dampens the excitement of something new coming out.

"Hey guys here's this awesome new character to play!" Oh I can't play it yet even though I just bought it. This discussion is just to get people thinking about the perspective of unfinished products going on the shelves. And the business ethics and philosophy of it.

Welcome to the internet, where near complete anonymity makes people feel really brave when it comes to saying ######### stuff.

LOL, r u serious? Who cares about tiny amount of BP in game with grind like if it's F2P, if it's brocken with every single patch

Ya but now people have actually been arrested for saying that kind of stuff online. Though IDK how often people are being arrested for talking trash. But death threats shouldn't be taken so lightly.

That's fair. I mean I agree with you. People have every right to feel that way about purchasing content that is broken.

  • Well yeah, this update wasn't as stable as i hoped it would be but i am having a lot of fun with pinhead on the £4 i spent on the hellraiser dlc. It

Yes you can still have fun and enjoy an the product. No ones saying you can't still have fun with it. Just wanted to pose the discussion revolved around this idea that we all feed into unfinished unpolished products. I mean it's not just the gaming world where this is happening either.

Honestly, it could have even more bugs, I'd still be playing Pinhead. My love for the Hellraiser universe will forgive just about any sin, although it was pressed a bit when they took out his voice. It will get better with time, and the more people who are playing, the faster they can find the bugs. I assume at least.

I do a fair bit of EA gaming though, and I've seen some really bad ones. I know this isn't about EA and all that, but just look at ARK. They sold DLC while in EA, and it's still got some serious flaws that were found and reported during the EA process. How many years and DLCs later? BHVR could be a lot worse, and I think a large part of the problem is that they know they have to keep the playerbase interested in the game. Pushing cosmetics and charms will do that, and new chapters of course.

What really needs to happen is a Chapter fully devoted to game health though. The more they put that off, the worse it's going to get.

I used to play ARK all the time that's a good example.

But yes I completely agree with you especially your last sentence.
