MMR just locks me in Solo Survivor Elo Hell.

I can't 1v1 a Killer.

And so, I will remain low Survivor MMR.

So no, my experiences have not "felt more well-rounded" or whatever it is that some of you like to say. They've felt worse. Much worse.

As someone with not many hours in the game in general, and even less of those hours as Survivor...

I was in red ranks for a while, hit rank 1 just before MMR patch. Games mostly felt right, although a lot of really bad purple ranks included. But they could do useful things every now and then.

But now... I'm just stuck in this world where my teammates are newbies.

So I die on first hooks.

Killer knows where I am because of gen explosions.

I can't go through doorways because someone is blocking me.

Killer knows where I am because of heal stabs.

Nobody has BT.

Teammates always go down in 1 hit because they hate being healed.

The list goes on.

Now I will never get good games ever again. I will be stuck in this constant up & down battle with the MMR system, where my current victory simply undoes the last helpless defeat that I had no control over. And that's only if my victory is strong enough, according to the game's arbitrary & hidden metrics, to undo the previous game's defeat at all.

This game's kinda... just... dead now.

    Sorry, I should say...

Solo Survivor is just dead now.

You don't HAVE to play solo, you realize that right? It's not hard to find people to play with if solo survivor is bothering you so much (as it does with most people).

    I never got carried.

Well - lol, we've all been carried, but you know what I mean.

I performed the best on my solo teams (point-wise and logically) probably at least 80% of the time. Probably over 90%, to be honest.

Those games felt good. Even if my teammates felt worse than me, they still at least got things done, knew what was going on, knew how to handle things, etc. Most of the time, anyway, of course.

I did not get carried. That's just the reality.

However, I was a much fresher player than most playing DBD. Among all these 3k+ hour gamers, I'm at like 450. Three digits. So I have not had the same 5 years of MMR data gathering.

And so, while everyone else has had all these years of building MMR while the system placed similar RANKED people against them, I'm still pretty much Baby Status as far as the MMR system goes. I have minimal MMR "farming" during the RANKED matchmaking.

    And so... Here we are.

The game basically wants me to play another 5 years to catch up to the average player data -- if we pretended everyone else paused for the next 5 years, btw.

Sure, I could go play Killer and probably get my MMR normalized relatively quickly. But I'm talking about Solo Survivor.

Where 3 actual newbies can feed and ragequit, and you're left wondering how to 1v1 a Killer and get out with a positive MMR gain. (You can't.)

But you know what, whatever. I've overexplained this. People either get it or they don't by now.

    Also...

The sheer fact that, if we knew the criteria, we could game it out, and focus on the system rather than the game itself... How does that NOT exactly declare that the system is misaligned to the actual game? (Also, how is that not what the pip system already promoted?)

ONCE again, for the 100th time, making Survivors share ALL points with each other would solve SO. MANY. THINGS.

    I know.

    My issues are two things:

    • My friends kinda hate DBD. The ones that stomach it to play with me often prefer to troll around, which doesn't really help me. I enjoy playing games to win, that IS the fun of games for me. (That's the point of having rules and objectives, and calling it a game in the first place.)
    • I don't much like the idea of searching online for like-minded players to get on a Disc with, and all that business... I'm not a perfect player, and I know I'm not great at looping. I don't really feel like hearing some angry yelling about random stuff. (I've pugged enough Wow arenas to know how it tends to go.) I also have to say, I can't STAND general Survivor complaints, with the tunnel this and camp that. I usually chime in to defend the Killers, and that gets even my friends mad at me, let alone random strangers.

    I dunno. Just sayin'...

You don't have to be in comms during the match. Sometimes I'm in comms with my friends and sometimes I'm not. Also muting people is usually an option.

Edit: I would put my player id because I also hate when people complain about supposed tunneling or camping, but since you don't like looking for people online, I won't.

I think I've decided, OH well.

I'll just deal with it. I don't care anymore.

    Just to address this point.

According to behaviour did they swipe mmr data prior to the last short term test in June so there is (or rather should be) no amassed data headstart for the other players.

Which in itself is also probably a reason for some mixed experience right now on the FIRST/SECOND DAY of sbmmr. Any mmr system needs time to acclimate itself.

Same mate, 1400 hours into the game, mostly great skill checks, able to hold most killers 1 min+ in one chase, grouped with potatoes or new survivors (with 50hrs into the game) against great killers and sometimes i'm grouped with competent survivors (average+ level) against a baby killer 🤣

    Works like a charm...

My experience was the opposite. Most of my games, we had 2-3 escapes. I was able to loop killers long enough to have two gens pop. Killers were tunneling as they always were. Yes, had bad games where we all died as well.

As far as teammates go, I had a couple of matches where everyone stops and hides when I get hooked, but it wasn’t too terrible.

It really doesn’t feel much different from before SBMMR except for the fact the killers I’m matched against don’t feel like they have 20k hours in the game and can read my mind and predict my movements.

Well for me it's inconsistent but i almost never played during the SBMM test so maybe my rank is not determined properly.

Didn't take too long before the "elo hell" posts started, I see.

Just give it time. It just got released. I say we should give them a month trial before we burn down the forums. It’s not as if what we had before was any better.

Solo survivor is the one aspect of SBMM that has been a pleasure for me. Competent team mates every match. Survivors who know how to loop and don't wander around doing nothing when the killer is not on them.

Killer games have been much tougher as expected.

You say this, but that is what survivor is. Games are won by finding the weak link. What happens when most of the team is weak?

You can't 1v1 a killer without them choosing to chase you all game, and even then you will go down eventually with only chase points and a depip.

Not even 24 hours into MMR and we already have our first "I'M STUCK IN ELO HELL!!!1111" thread. Nice. :D
