Could someone be permabanned for confessing?
Basically, if someone who has no bans on their record be permabanned if they were to confess to abusing the post-game chat multiple times in the past, due to them having a guilty conscience? Even if they have no evidence that they did any of those things?

Um, have you been abusing people in the post game chat?

@WretchedElk I asking if someone had in the past, not that I am currently.

Bans require evidence, in form of in-game reports for verbal abuse in post-game chat, for example, or video evidence for hacking.

I mean, to get permanently banned I imagine it would have to be something rly terrible and just disgusting. It would also have to happen many times in many matches.
If it was something like insults, etc. It would be prob a short ban period. Not permanent.

@Rizzo90 Even in the form of a confession? Admitting to cheating is apparently bannable, even without evidence, though,

@Buily09 I've wondered how that works- is it a strike thing? Considering there is a scale. Like, if you say something bad, and get temp banned within the span of a year like 3 times, and then another year later say one more thing, THEN it's permanent?

I'm sure that gets investigated before taking action, otherwise people would get banned for just joking for example.

From what I rememeber, I think it scales (unless this was updated). You would have to get banned more times(3+?) to get perma. But I might be wrong since it is long time since I read about this.

How many people have you abused?

There is an escalation process, it's explained here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/141-game-ban-escalation

Thank you. Just one question to be sure:
"Any previous permanent bans on your record will result in all future offenses being a permanent ban."
Does this means if someone gets new account (no metter platform), if they commit any other offense, THEN they will get banned? Because from what I rememeber, trying to avoid perma bans by creating new accounts will auto result in perma (if there is prove that it is the same person).

Ban evading is indeed an offense, I think it depends on the kind of ban someone receives, I'm not an ACM so I don't know their specifics in a situation like that, I just think that overall if you get permabanned and start over on a different account, you will think twice before breaking the rules again.

Ah, right. I figured so, but I also figured, if someone had, not necessarily GOTTEN banned, but had DONE things in the chat that would maybe result IN a ban if it were reported 3+ times, they would automatically get permabanned since, well, although they weren't banned, they committed those """crimes""" 3+ times, each one representing a potential ban, so to speak. If... that makes sense?

Simply put, IF you insulted many people and someone would prove it or report you in-game, THEN you could get banned.
However depends what insults or chat it was and how many times I quess. You might skip some level of ban or maybe not.

My friend got permanently banned through chat offences on one account. The next account he was goaded into a confrontation and then reported and immidiately received a permanent ban, if this story helps

@GoodBoyKaru With no warning, he got permabanned? Or did he receive multiple warnings first?
0 -
Nope, it didn't take them long to finnish him off

He was permanently banned on one account after many warnings. On his second he was permanently banned without warnings.

I hate you so much for this pun oh my god

@GoodBoyKaru Ohhh, right. I've about people getting warnings... does that mean they can give warnings without bans? Odd.

Only for Chat offences and disconnecting from matched too much iirc. All other bannable offences result in an immidiate and permanent ban.

From what I remember, devs only hardware ban after 3 regular bans. Therefore, if you get banned once it is perfectly fine to make another account and it wouldn't qualify as ban evasion. Otherwise, they would just hardware ban you with the first ban and call it a day.
Keep in mind that this info is really old(from around the time when they added hardware bans) so things may have changed.
