This game is boring and hasn't evolved

for the past 5 years, we have had no new inventions or cool ideas, except totems or entity blocking windows, oh wow, sitting on more loading bars while your objective gets completed, generators, totems, sabotaging hooks ect. the chase is the most fun part imagine that, the one thing your meant to do as survivor is to evade and avoid the killer at all costs, and focus on your objective, but people would rather do the opposite because its more fun with the thrill of the chase. and even then chases have become stale, looping the same object repeatedly until you need to drop pallet and move on, nothing with this game has changed to make it more evolved and fun. Im waiting for DBD's competition, I'm waiting, yawn I'm bored.

Y'know, the mechanics ARE there, as shown by some abilities and effects on certain elements.
The issue is, honestly, more with the community, more precisely a very, very vocal part that does not WANT any complexity, left alone different playstyles in the game and will do everything to suffocate any solid idea for it.

Dbd has had competition before. It’s just that most of it wasn’t that good (except Friday the 13th)

Last Year looked okay. They just made the mistake of releasing it on Discord of all things.
DbD has had some sort of growth, but not enough. It's evolved visually, and the only form of new, game-changing content is the Killers. DbD is a much different game then it used to be, but it's main gameplay formula has always stayed the same.

DBD made competition for its own game with Deathgarden, marketed it horribly to the same people despite its great gameplay and died swiftly.

The 'VHS' game looks promising, thought personally i'm not much a fan of those graphics

That ash vs evil dead game is coming out, my guess is DBD is losing another license too

Oh you know about that? man I was trying to keep secrets

Blight and Cenobite have great design. For everything else i agree with you.

yes and i poured all my hours into blight and he was one of my first mains, super fun ability to this day im still learning stuff, but after i got really good with him, 4k almost every game at rank 1, i loss interest, He is an example of a killer that is unique and doesnt follow the regurgitated m1 killer.

I mean I've found a few games recently that are assym that look good/I really like.
There's Carnival Hunt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viJsY4UjPQo
VHS as @MeltingPenguins mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EudLkQrn0qc
The Ash vs Evil Dead game @Triadequinaxor mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALpBmM6EqBQ
And Haunt Chaser which looks like DBD and Phasmophobia combined and looks awesome. It has something DBD is missing. You can play against an AI with friends and not bot teammates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZUKwBao7Aw

Well, if it changed formula, it wouldn't exactly be DBD. What if Mario Kart changed formula?

I would be enticed to play more often if new game modes were introduced, or new objectives entirely.

I'm very much waiting for Evil Dead: The Game. Can't wait. Unlike with DbD, there's already a Friends & Family group waiting to play that one. We're Evil Dead fans and have been since we were kids (I was born in '72).
Didn't know about VHS. Was watching the Devs play on YouTube. It looks fun. Just joined the Discord and did the Beta sign-up.

yeah I didn't either. My friend is usually the one who shows me the new assymetrical games. I'm particularly a fan of that Carnival Hunt trailer and I love the gameplay I've seen of Haunt Chaser since it is in early access.

Off topic but I was looking at your name earlier and I had a hard time trying to pronounce it, how do you @Triadequinaxor ?

I'm going to look more into those two this evening.

Most of its "competition" is not even good enough to be dead on arrival. Without console, might as well already consider them failures as they aren't going anywhere. It has been 5 years, doubt it is happening. I am just going to enjoy DBD for what it is.

I personally wish they would introduce more perks that literally add new mechanics it was fun as hell when the oni came out and you could lift pallets for the first time
That would make the game more exciting for me

Evolve? No no, DBD has reached its best state a very long time ago, and it couldn't possibly go beyond that.
Just like a Pokemon without a Mega: once it reaches the final stage, that is it.

Until they add a new form or variation to appease us genwunners. That is all DBD needs. We need that secret regional evolution that they only JUST discovered somehow.

DBD hasn't evolved or added anything truly significant to the formula for one reason: they have no competition, so nothing is forcing them to innovate and improve upon the base mechanics of the game. In a perfect world, within the context of selling products in general, people will always strive to bring the best out of their inventions, do right by their customers, and draw a profit while enhancing what they've already sold. This strengthens the long term relationship between them and their buyers, builds loyalty and trust, and creates a reliable stream of income that can be utilized to continue the cycle.
Now, back to reality. Some companies grow comfortable once they monopolize a niche market, simply stop caring, and just go in whatever direction they want regardless of feedback. Why? Simple, there's nothing to challenge them on the same field, and knowing people don't have an alternative for their "fix", gamble on the fact that they'll stick with their product out of spite. Sunk cost fallacy often plays a role here as well, and I'd be willing to put money down on the fact that a lot of us remain because we already have so much time and money invested in Dead by Daylight.
It's sad, but that's reality. It's usually not pleasant.

DBD desperately needs a new game mode. It’s ridiculous of how many characters are in this game and yet we’re still stuck playing the same single game mode to this day.
I just wish they would experiment with like limited time game modes or something. BHVR’s creativity seems really limited at this point.

I would perfectly happy if this game sorted out it's bugs and added offline bots. And maybe snuck in Jason as a bonus.

VHS is an upcoming game similar to Dbd that is going to be free to play so it'll definitely be competition and its releasing on steam and epic so it should be good competition being a free game.

You know about that to? Here I was thinking I was keeping secrets

It looks so damn pretty and I'm ready for it. As much as I love dbd I'm tired of grinding rift as my main reason to play now. Its fun a game like half of the time maybe even most of the time but its also pretty boring considering we don't get actual events anymore and all of our content are just skins, and a new killer every 3 months. A lot of the killers are just too similar so the gameplay doesn't change up enough I guess. But yeah VHS is gonna be great!!

it legit looks like if you combined dbd and overwatch together with the graphics and things survivors can use

Hey, I just found out about this game. Launches October 1st on Steam. Basically, a "Chucky" asymmetrical horror game. It's an odd beast. I checked out the official website, and it has a one-man development team and he spent 4 years and some crowdfunding to make it.

You say the one thing a survivor should do is evade the killer? You get nothing for your chase emblem score for doing that so the game encourages you to get into chases. If it didn't you would get points for going unnoticed instead.
To be fair though, the game does need some good competition as the devs have gotten complacent and we are all waiting for that day to happen. If nothing else at least it will give bhvr a kick up the bum to give the players what they ask for, not just what they think is best.
