What do you think of this idea for a Boon totem perk?
Boon: A Prey's Distraction
You're ability to become a distraction hinders the focus of the victim.
After every 20/15/10 seconds of being in an active chase, gain a token. For every token gained, the furthest generator's aura is hidden from the killer for the remainder of the trial until the associated Boon totem is destroyed.
Once the Boon totem is destroyed, the perk deactivates for the remainder of the trial.

I recently came up with this and I think it will be a great perk. It requires something from the survivor side which is being chase for a while and it can give the killer an indication the survivor has the perk, which is noticing that you see less gens on the map. It would be a very oppressive effect without the Boon totem part of the perk, so this can go great with it. Please devs, I want this perk in the game because it sounds so cool to me.
Also, for any confusion that I need to clear up, when I say it's 10 seconds of being in an active chase, it doesn't mean that you have to be in a chase continuously to gain more tokens. It's similar to being in the killer's terror radius with Stake Out and Diversion.

As a killer main, I don't like it. However, that being said, I wouldn't mind something like that showing up, cause you survivors couldn't stop us when we find it to cleanse it (unlike us chasing you off our totems). So from there, it makes sense as a totem perk.

Yeah that's why it'd be a good totem perk. It would be very oppressive without it and I would hate it.

That sounds ridiculously OP. It would only take one 40s chase to eliminate 4 gens from the killers view, and then the killer is pretty much forced to seek out the Boon totem.
The killer might not even notice at first, if it's just one or two, and that makes 2 gens that are completely safe to repair.
No Boon perk should force the killer to find the totem like this, even most Hex perks can be ignored if you really want to, even Ruin has no power if you just genrush. This is legitimately stronger than any Hex perk, and a boon perk should only be 1/4 of a Hex. (still four survivors)
Killers don't have time to seek out totems, they're a side-objective for survivors. So they need to be things that are reasonable for survivors to spend time finding a totem setting up.
Inner Strength is basically a boon perk, it requires cleansing a totem to power. So boon perks should be similar to that, just with a semi-permanent effect that the killer might disable, if they find the totem.

Fair, maybe I should increase it to 35/30/25 seconds?

At the same time though, would this apply only to the survivor that placed it? Or would it work for all survivors? If it was for all, it's would be a huge disadvantage killer wise, which again makes it a totem perk, but it would probably end up being a much longer time taken to kick gens/pallets/vaulting,like a reverse fire up. Could see some other killer mains "fired up" about this one, like, a lot :)

Oh no it would just be the survivor that has the perk. Honestly, I didn't even think about how it would work if multiple survivors had the perk so I might've goofed this one.

I just don't think permanently eliminating essential info for the killer is a viable perk. The killer shouldn't be forced to break a boon totem, it's simply an option if they happen to find it. A minor risk to the survivor that their perk could end up disabled.
This would essentially be a survivors version of NOED, except "just running out the exit" isn't something the killer can do in this case.

I kind of just want the reversal, where it's a survivor telling the killer to "just do bones", to happen because of how outlandish it would have seemed years ago.

This is a great concept but instead of it blinding the killers gen reading aura, why not make it so that it shows other survivors generators when being chased for a long duration.
Gain a token after being in a chase for Sixty|Fifty| Forty Seconds. Each token reveals the aura of four random generators to every survivor for Five\Seven\Ten seconds, with no cool down. Additionally, while this boon is lit it gives a 15 percent bp boost to the bold category.

That could work. I’ll be down with that.

I've come up with a couple Boon Totem concepts, and I think this would be really nice. The only things needed are 1. 10s is too way little, so something more like 20-30s per token would work better. 2. Killers will need a notification/status effect that tells them that they're being affected by a Boon Totem (Survivors have Cursed with Hex Totems), I call mine Blessed as an antithesis.
Here are a couple of my Boon Totem concepts if you're interested:
BOON TOTEM: ANCESTOR'S TEACHINGS
You keep the stories and lessons you’ve grown up with close to heart. They’ve aided you in warding off evil.
- While cleansing a Dull Totem, press the Active Ability button to Sanctify it, turning it into a Boon Totem. Only 1 Boon Totem perk can be equipped at a time.
- NOTE: When under the effects of a Boon Totem, Killers suffer from the Blessed status effect. This status effect serves as an opposite to the Cursed status effect, notifying the Killer that a Boon Totem is active.
- When this Boon Totem is active, Survivors recover from status effects 40/45/50% more quickly. Survivors can recover from the Exhausted status effect while running at 25/50/75% of the normal recovery speed.
- The Killer can perform the Dismantle action (10s) on a Boon Totem to destroy it.
BOON TOTEM: RITUAL OF CHÜD
The willpower and cunning of you and your team is stronger than any monster.
- While this Boon Totem is active, it gains a Token for each Survivor that is still in the Trial. For each Token on this Totem, the Killer’s Power Usage speed is reduced by 3/5/7%.
- Power Usage refers to the activation/setting/speed that a Killer uses their Power.
- The Killer can perform the Dismantle action (10s) on a Boon Totem to destroy it.
1 - While cleansing a Dull Totem, press the Active Ability button to Sanctify it, turning it into a Boon Totem. Only 1 Boon Totem perk can be equipped at a time.
-
What if it worked as a temporary blackout? Say, once the Boon is activated on a dull totem, the Killer loses the ability to see the survivors' health states, general auras and noise notifications. The only aura they can see is the Boon Totem itself, which gets revealed after 20~ seconds.
This way, the Killer would know exactly where to go to dispel the effect, but would have to go directly out of their way to do so. The game would still be playable, but tracking would be a lot harder.
I think the main concern with Boons that people are having is that killers simply don't have time to search across the map for totems. Reveal the aura, and the Killer can go to the totem when they have some downtime, meaning that you're allowed to have a powerful effect without it feeling unfair. Just my two cents.

My only complaint with these perks is that 10 seconds of time is too much to dismantle the Boon, considering the killer has to already spend a large amount of time looking for the totem. They have to go out of their way to find them, ignoring all generators and letting their map pressure evaporate by checking every nook and cranny (because importantly, survivors can choose where their totems are, so you'll likely never find one in one of the obvious totem spots) so including 10 seconds of doing nothing on top of that potentially up to 5 times leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
In terms of the perks themselves, though, they sound great. Especially Ritual of Chüd, that one's incredibly interesting. The perfect strength for a Boon, IMO.

Thanks! I want it to take sometime bc its a strong perk + if it works against the Killer the interaction should take a few seconds, locating it would be the hardest aspect but you already addressed that.
I was kind of working another Boon Totem concept like that, basically a much stronger version of Sole Survivor attached to the Totem. That's a really good point about showing its Aura though, a team of 4 can find a Hex much faster than a single Killer finding a Boon. I'm going to incorporate that into my concepts.

This whole thread is making me dread the idea of Boon totems coming to the game. Killers. Do. Not. Need. More. Things. To. Worry. About.

I could see the first boon totem disabling aura reading on survivors for the killer while it's active.
