It’s time to let us opt out of playing against Spirits

>I’ve almost never played blight, and recently decided to give him a go, and all my games were high MMR SWF players bodyblocking and sabotaging.
So even better. So you will immediately meet competent survivors.
But actually, sabotage and body blocking (and many attempts flashlight saves) are not a sign of strong survivors. In most cases, this is make dilettantes, who hope to bully an inexperienced killer. Any experienced killer would simply destroy them. A sign of strong survivors - medkits, map-item, keys, meta perks, competent genrush and saves, looping/chasing/mindgames skill.
>Also, not sure why I need to become a streamer for to prove a killer in a video game is easy. You can be the judge of it!
Words without actions and personal experience mean a little, you know. You will not have a real picture of the world until you personally try the experience that you think about. And video recording will not allow you to deceive others by saying that you had a lot of matches on her and won easily.
1 -
maybe but yours is not. There is nothing wrong or toxic with playing a killer.
3 -
To be fair, it was pretty justified against Freddy with how he could ignore BT.
0 -
He had to wait 7 seconds after putting someone to sleep, before he could do anything to them. He couldn´t hook grab awake survivors. He couldn´t pick downed survivors up, which where being healed by awake survivors, etc.
But sure, ignoring BT was his OP part...
3 -
As much as I absolutely despise spirit. They need to balance her. Not add a thing to dodge spirit lobby's.
0 -
Not that Freddy… the post rework Freddy before the BT change this year
0 -
But i was talking about the original Freddy. Thats why i said "back when he released".
0 -
point still stands.

I like to look at it from the Wolfenstein difficulty perspective.
Most killers land in "Bring 'em on"
Difficult killers like Nurse land in "I am death incarnate"
Then there's Spirit. Spirit is the only killer on the "Can I play, Daddy?" difficulty.
0 -
Apart from the standstill mindgame, Spirit is not that easy to play.
4 -
I just seen the in game tip that tells you to do this. Like really behavior your going to tell me so cheese.
0 -
How is this thread still going?
0 -
Probably because op called playing a killer toxic. That seemed to be the calamity of this thread
1 -
Yeah I guess that is a way to create a viral thread.
0 -
those baby survivors have been screaming about spirit for years (including me, I'm the biggest baby of them all) while the devs stick to nerfing pig, billy and demo instead.
Balance decisions aren't made because of angry survivors, those decisions are reached via a combination of statistics, whatever happened to Almo in his last game and a magic 8 ball.
2 -
So they finally started using the magic 8 ball its about time.

Signs point to yes

Only if I get to opt out of playing against Flashlights, Brand New Parts, and SWF...
1 -
dude what?
1 -
people like you ruin the game. "I dOnT WaNt To PLaY aGaInSt ThIs KiLlEr". She's in the game deal with it or stop playing
5 -
Mmph
1 -
Iron Will is fine. You can still see scratch marks, blood, and hear foot steps (you can still see survivors with your eyes as well)... When Spirit starts phasing you have almost no information on what she's doing. IW is fine and Spirit is straight up broken.
0 -
Deal, but only if i can opt out of playing against SWF.
1 -
Exactly these people acting like they’re entitled to have every game go their way are hilarious.
4 -
Behavior: Do it again.

The Pig was nerfed by the EGC. There was also a Nurse. Spirit may simply be reached later, as a newer one.
0 -
Standing still isn't a mindgame, it's being lazy. Regardless, a Spirit with a few hundred hours can just as easily win a match as a Nurse with thousands of hours because unlike Nurse, who takes nearly a thousand hours to master, Spirit can be picked up and mastered in a few days.
0 -
Line of sight breakers are extremely strong with IW. Especially since walking survivors don't leave scratch marks.
Spirit is kinda easy to beat. Don't try to "mindgame" her at a pallet. When she stops moving, you run and vault.
Don't forget that she can't see you when she phases. No scratch marks, no blood and since Stridor was nerfed also no sound clues.
2 -
EGC or not nerfing her was a choice, and an unnecessary one, saving all your traps for endgame was pretty high risk. If a pig isn't putting traps on anyone that'd be a good signal to start breaking dull totems for one thing.
They were also going to nerf her more so the traps paused whenever the pig was nearby, not even in chase - that was one occasion they backed down after outcry. But yeah this is mostly the sort of balance changes they're into, the completely unasked for kind.
0 -
"Kinda easy to beat"- Yeah, I'd like to see you beat a good Spirit player as a solo survivor. Even SWF groups have trouble playing against her. She has way too much information and the survivors have little to none. She is unbalanced and almost everyone can see it.
Edit- I have no problems with IW when I play as killer. Survivors are very easy to track down even with that perk. The only way I might lose the survivor is if they equip Lucky Break and IW together.
0 -
I am by no means a fan of Spirit, but Nurse taking "Thousands of hours to master" is ridiculous.
Once you learn her, you learn her. It's all muscle memory from there. And learning her really takes maybe a few weeks at most.
0 -
Spirit has to be one of the killers i enjoy going against. Shes no push over and the better player always wins. Saying she has "too much information and the survivors have little to none" is a false statement. She stands still when she phases, can't see blood, with the IW buff she got nerfed a bit, she's 110%, and she can't see the survivor. In a chase the survivor has the advantage if you try and loop spirit like a average M1 killer then its your fault for messing up. Do things to mind game dont just expect to run in a straight line and get away lol.
1 -
Feel free to quote me next time. It's absolutely not a false statement. She can't see blood, but she can see scratch marks, hear grunts of pain, footsteps, moving grass, etc. She does have wayyy too much information and the survivors have too little. She needs some changes.
0 -
Survivors just got MMR added as well to make their games even easier since the four survivors are of equal skill and almost never weigh each other down.
But don't worry, better remove the only killer in the game that can handle high MMR survivors if you can't dedicate hundreds of hours on Nurse.
2 -
What information does she have?
When phasing:
- She can't see the survivor.
- She can't see the scratch marks.
- She can't see the blood stains.
- She can't hear the IW survivor.
So what is exactly the information she gets? Spirit facing IW survivors is a tie. Both sides get the exact same amount of information about the other side. It's the most balanced thing I can think about.
3 -
I honestly don't see what the problem is with Spirit when she's one of the only killers that feels like PVP when I play against her.
Have you tried changing your playstyle to play against her? Or are you complaining because you've gone brain dead to Shift + W and Ring Around The Pallet counter play? Or are you upset that she doesn't have consistent counter play which shouldn't be a thing in a PvP game.
Playing against Spirit is like playing a fighting game. Eventually you have to risk something in order to get somewhere.
1 -
Not every Spirit you face will be top tier, plenty of them waste their full phase without getting a hit - it just requires a completely different playstyle from survivors.
1 -
And can you tell me what that playstyle is besides using perks? Using mindgames will only work while healthy and even then spirit still has a lot of ways to track you.
Also even if she uses her full phase what if she has duration (which adds recharge because fun) and recovery add ons? The cooldown is much shorter and gives survivors barely any reward for actually managing to pull something off.
0 -
I mean I almost never play Spirit but if you want to be able to opt-out of playing against certain Killers I also want the option to opt-out of playing against SWF. Fair deal?
1 -
Spirit can hear grunts of pain, hear footsteps, see grass moving, etc. IW should not be needed to have a chance at winning. Survivors don't have any clue if she's phasing or faking it... She's also invisible when she's phasing. She definitely needs some tweaks. It's not fair at all.
0 -
While I like Spirit and her fantasy as a Ghost with a grude I think you are right.
The major problem is that she should encourage a hit and run playstyle like Wraith to get more jump scares her ability robbs of the survivor of so many information that it is just more favourable to chase the same player. This is not fair and especialy the standing still "mindgame" is just dumb. This has nothing to do with her fantasy at all and should just go way.
I would say the first change should be this: The survivor within the terror radius can hear her phasing and maybe her footsteps (putting both on equal ground) and the survivors outside her radius get no warning and just the footsteps. An injured survivor within her heartbeat could even get bloody footprints once she is like 4 meters away as a warning.
This would make her less oppressive in a chase and more jumpscary.

She can´t hear grunts of pain when you use IW. Which is currently one of the most used perks anyway.
As i said, its a fair situation. Because both sides won´t see each other.
1 -
She can see scratch marks. Only way she cant see them is if she has mother-daughter ring and she can hear survivors footsteps, hear them if they vault, see grass moving, she can see when they disturb crows and if they dont have IW then she obviously can hear their grunts of pain and can hear normal breathing when survivors are uninjured
0 -
I know how IW works. It's still not fair at all. Not everyone uses IW and it shouldn't be needed to play against her.
0 -
I doubt everyone uses IW just to stand a chance against Spirit.
0 -
Survivors could also hear her footsteps (don´t remember if that bug was fixed or if it becomes a feature).
Anyway, the best way to deal with her is holding w whenever she starts to stand still, drop pallets early and always try to get something in between.
Honestly, this is getting nowhere. Her kill rate isn´t particuarly high and even if it were, its mostly because survivors insta quit against her (just like they did against Freddy). She´s a solid killer but nothing to be worried about (otherwise the devs would have already nerfed her hard). Just today i´ve seen similar threads/comments about Wraith, Oni and Hag.
If you have the feeling that you can´t go against her, just equip Iron Will, Lucky Break, Quick&Quiet and Poised or Dance with me.
0 -
I can only sometimes hear her footsteps so it might be a bug or her sound is bugged.
I use Iron will sometimes but they can still get me quite easily if they are good. But i dont want to complain so i dont really care

I just told you. You can still mindgame even when injured, just because you can’t do it yourself doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
Just like good Nurse, you’re not going to run a good Spirit for 2+ gens like you would other killers but that’s fine. The fact that you can already run a (M1) killer for tons of gens shows how unbalanced this game/maps currently are.
1 -
So what would a good survivor do while injured against spirit besides just guess and hope for the best? Obviously it can happen but the odds are vastly in the spirit’s favor. Even something simple like spirit moving foliage while phasing could be a decent change.
And like nurse a killer with her strength shouldn’t be easy to learn and master
0 -
Just run Iron Will, man. If you really face Spirit that often and hate facing her and/or don’t know how to counter her, just run the dang perk. Only 1 is really needed, but Dead Hard and Q&Q also is good
I can’t play the game for you lol.
