What is the purpose of Stridor if I can turn up the volume of my headset?
It's an honest question.
Stridor is definitely a meaningless perk, I can have its "benefit" without using it, legitly. It's not like Shadowborn that in fact gives an advantage I could not get without using it.
Stridor should be rework in a way that increases both volume and distance of the sounds, for example.

Because turning up the volume doesn't change the audio mix. Stridor does. It's for consistency and relative volume.

This as well as I don't really feel like blowing out my ear drums every game by blasting the entire game at top volume just to make it a little easier to hear people running around and grunting...

The purpose of Stridor is to clog up your Bloodweb. Same as perks like No Mither, Mettle of Man and Monstrous Shrine.

About 70% of the survivors I face run Iron Will. I’d like to assume that it’s relatively the same across all of DBD so in that case Stridor is an obsolete perk, not even worth considering for a perk slot.

I got it. But if the player can't hear grunts of pain without stridor, I can assume the eardrums are already sacrificed (not talking about iron will though)

Stridor only ups the injured sounds and breathing.
Upping your volume across means you're uppibg thinga like chase music too.
Good luck hearing grunts of pain when doctors pain train chase music is blasting at 167 decibels in your earholes

While Stridor is still more than just enhancing the audio, it's not worthwhile, because it kinda messes with your perception of distance in the game. The few moment, when I used it or Stridor like effects, I've found it too often that I misjudged Survivors positions because of it.
So yeah, it was only useful in countering Iron Will that has been negated. I'm kinda glad they did. Now it's more open too see how useless the perk and it's effect is,
