Spirit update unfair
It's unfair for spirit because she can't see the surviver, so I think you need to change when you use her power you can also see and heard the stepfoot

Spirit was unfair for years to survivors. Now you are complaining a deserved nerf will be UNFAIR FOR THE SPIRIT before you even got to play the changed killer.
Nice try, but no.

You can hear the footsteps if you're paying attention.
This change just makes both sides have audio, with only minor visual feedback.
Spirit: Can hear the survivors breathing and steps, and see scratch marks (or see blood with Father's glasses, unless that is an add-on changed.) I can agree that this will make Iron Will too strong against her, but only because Iron Will seems to bug out and silence breathing too. Which it isn't supposed to do.
Survivors: Now hear a directional phase, and kicks up dust.

Survivors: now hear a directional phase, and kicks up dust it's very unfair
2 -
Forget it, spirit is dead she wont be a top killer anymore. Spirit did not change her gameplay but survivor gain the ability to know where she is when she phase so bad survivor are still going to complain but the average and up survivor are going to destroy spirit
8 -
Oh no! Anyway-
13 -
The same people running around saying Spirit was unfair are the ones who also see no issue with Dead Hard, Iron Will, old DS, old object, and don't see how those are unfair and how survivors have more unfair tools at their leisure than almost any killer does.
9 -
Sound is always bugged. Whenever you manage to hear her footsteps in a new patch, a hotfix comes out within a week that bugs it out again. Every time.
2 -
I legitimately cannot remember the last time sound was not bugged.
8 -
Spirit can also see foliage moving while she herself can use it as a mask for her dust
4 -
I think old DS and old Object were incredibly unfair. I think Dead Hard can be too strong in circumstances, and I'm fine with Iron Will. Not with how it interacts with the buggy sound of this game, but the idea of Iron Will is fine.
Spirit was unfair.
3 -
Yeah I found that bit very odd. Like, overall it's great, but that if she goes into grass she becomes completely invisible while it shows her your location and most of the reworked maps have a ton of foliage that survivors can't avoid in chase. I should know, whenever I see trapper my anxiety shoots through the roof as I try to avoid the foliage in an area I think he's been to.

Spot on
3 -
Last specific instance I recall was when the Oni came out. I think 2 or 3 days later they patched out his broken lunge when combined with Q/E and somehow sound broke again. :')
Yeah I agree, the claim that we don't think something is unfair if its survivor sided is such a hard strawman lol.
3 -
And the same people claiming Spirit is now gutted were the same ones claiming that the old Ruin nerf would kill the game, that Nurse's nerf would make her a bottom-tier killer, and who think that every killer is unviable at the mystical "high MMR" that they themselves will never reach.
6 -
Welp, now high MMR survivors can enjoy going up against just Nurse and Blight.
6 -
I love Blight, so yes please? Atm it's mostly facecamping bubbas at high MMR, though. I also love Bubba when they're good players and aren't just facecamping after the first chase.

This actually adds some Skill and Decision-making to Spirit gameplay - you have to decide if you go the straight forward way and risk being seen or you take a little detour through grass so that the Survivor does not get the Footstep Indicator.
6 -
That mean less viable killer and instead of having 3 good killer the game have 2, meaning less variety but you know survivor want that so its fine :)

The good ol' days of yore.

Totally false. There are certain builds on certain killers that you can bring to guarantee 4ks by bringing a map. I’m 47-0 (all 4ks) with scratch mirror Myers on indoor maps. You can never have that level of control over the game by playing survivor. I’m 22-0 (all 4ks) with wraits all seeing silent bell build on indoor maps. I’m 30-0 with clowns invigorated all seeing build without even deciding the map. Killer has WAY more tools to dominate the game and it’s not even close. As it should be, this isn’t Feng Min’s t bagging adventures it’s dead by daylight.
3 -
I play more killer than survivor but do go off
2 -
Yep i can see that! I'm open minded about it but feel that her seeing foliage move when a lot of maps have it everywhere risks ending up as just being another broken interaction with no counterplay depending on the map.

Does this mean she won't move corn? :(
0 -
Yeah pretty sure that's what it means!

Iron Will is more unfair than Spirit is.
Spirit is one killer, Iron Will is used pretty much on every killer and has the same effect on every killer: free invisibility when LOS is broken.
You not only make no injured noises but no breathing sounds either. Meaning if you're chased inside any structure and the killer breaks LOS of you for even a second you have free invisibility and the killer is not sure if you're there or left. Blood and scratch marks don't disappear instantly and the intensity still takes a little bit of time before it becomes visible that it's fading. Chase music, especially for some killers, accompanied with environmental noises such as a finished generator or realm effects can render trying to hear footsteps a lost cause. On top of footsteps being broken in general.
Like you lot are complaining so hard about stand still mind games of Spirit and how she's so unfair when you equip a perk that rewards you partial invisibility for playing badly in chase, as well as a perk that supposedly is too strong in "circumstances" (hint: stronger in more situations than not) that also gives you a third health state because you played badly. Just say you don't want fairness and you want the advantage and move on.
Spirit isn't gutted in my opinion but I think the changes are extremely unnecessary when considering the survivor meta. If Stridor nerf wasn't a thing I would pretty much have zero issues with the Spirit changes but I dislike how the devs seem to hardcore ignore the unfairness of survivor perks but are very quick to acknowledge killer ones, particularly when there's Twitter hoopla about it.

I've been a Spirit main since her release. I can promise you this won't "ruin" her. The only thing I do wish is they buff her cooldown to 12 seconds from 15 seconds.

Im agree with telling you if as spirit im phasing or not but giving the direction im coming was a bug long ago and spirit just was unbearable to play as.
Right now his power give you more help than help to her.
3 -
U cant see scratchmarks as spirit the scratch marks stop in the place you started to be on the spirit realm
1 -
You know what happen ? Each time you nerf a killer as killer player we adapt you know what happened with old undying? Got nerfed cuz you all couldnt make totems.
2 -
Oh my god no, only thing I'm thinking that would be more fair for her is a built in predator when she phases, but that's it.
Anything else and it would be a slaughter.
0 -
That... Isn't how Spirit works. She sees any scratch marks made while in phase.
3 -
Not true. It got nerfed because it only affected solo play, incredibly strongly, whereas top players and SWF had no issue with it. But it was an incredibly boring meta given matchmaking doesn't generally give good solo players good teammates lol.
Solo survivor is already incredibly weak, so adding on how oppressive undying/ruin/tinkerer was in that context, it was incredibly overkill.
And I didn't want it nerfing personally.
1 -
Unless she uses Mother-Daughter Ring in order to gain insane mobility! And that's been a meta add-on for top spirit players for a long time.
0 -
Spirit cant see scratchmark made while she is in phase.Previous ones she can if not would be impossible cuz we would need to guess if u turn to the left, right or run straight.
0 -
Someone's been playing with Mother Daughter Ring just a tad too much
4 -
This makes absolutely no sense.
Killers have more at their arsenal because they can bring a map. Ok, did you just discover that survivors can do the same thing?
Are you going to want to brag about your non-existent chances of your 4k streak when survivors can bring you to Ormond/Haddonfield/Coldwind/Badham/so forth and they also bring in multiple BNP's, DS/IW/UB/DH/Prove Thyself/Soul Guard all the while maps (or perks) to break any potential totems you have and doing gens at the speed of light before you can do anything substantial?
And I really hope there's either some evidence to that 4k streak, and if it's pre-mmr it's not even to be taken seriously for very obvious reasons. A lot of the people, particularly content creators who tried doing win streaks pre-mmr have already admitted it's impossible to do so with high MMR, including some notable veterans and even some comp players.
Because if we're going down this line of just saying stuff without having to show evidence I'm also going to throw out there I have a 100 continuous escape streak as survivor
1 -
Whats that related with what im saying? Im talking about adaptation not why it got nerfed.
0 -
I think u overestimate Spirit nerf. She is still strong and good killers will still kill survivors, but phasing gamble was rly stupid mechanic and I'm happy now it's mind game not a guess contest.
0 -
Yes she can?
0 -
You know I play all killer addonless? What that ring mean is when you are charging your phase those marks also dissappear btw
0 -
Just play it by urself i guess
0 -
No, that's not what it means. What you think happens in phase normally is what happens when using MDR, and what you think happens when using MDR doesn't happen at all.
Sincerely, someone who played MDR/Yakuyoke for half a month straight.
0 -
The kicking up dust thing as they mentioned will be probably able to be avoided with good pathing (certain terrain and out of LOS of the survivor) I know the idea of using more than 3 brain cells while playing spirit feels strange right now but we'll adjust
3 -
I literally have for a month straight to prove she was easy to pick up and do well with like 2 months ago 💀
1 -
Streamers are low mmr?
0 -
As a Spirit player, this only encourages me more to mix up my strategy a bit. I don't think this is unfair because heck, I don't like going against Spirit cause there is barely any counterplay for her. If anything, survivors need to pay more attention than before and if they don't, boom! that's on them. Spirit's still strong in grass and corn which is still strong for her.
2 -
Yes. Spirit is now given no information and survivors have all the information. It's backwards logic.
2 -
Ohh yeah indeeed you can My bad sorry its the ring that doesnt allow it.
0 -
The ######### do you mean no information she still sees scratchmarks, foliage moving, hears breathing + sounds of pain if no iron will is in play, and footsteps. How is that no information?!
1 -
I used to (mistakenly) think that her phase sound was directional, where back in the past I thought that was the key to dealing with it.
Now it's actually in place, alongside the footstep visuals, it would be much fairer. I like this change a lot, and also kudos for the Trapper changes upcoming. This first update looks good, especially with some perk changes.
