Devs - Was spirit overperforming statistically?
Just curious.

Even with how skewed their data was, it showed she was in fact not over performing.

I just wanna hear it right from them, in 2021.
4 -
She was 100%. On the forums at least.
I really wonder whos the next "nerf X killer" now
25 -
Spirit's always been pretty BS. Honestly she was the only killer I think needed a direct nerf in terms of reworking. Nurse is skating on the edge of that but I don't mind when Nurse outplays me because it actually requires effort.
Most other killers could probably use buffs now that Spirit finally "GOT WHAT SHE ***ING DESERVED!"
21 -
You believe Spirit was overpowered?
4 -
A killer doesn't have to be overpowered or overperforming to warrant a nerf.
28 -
What does overperforming mean anyways? Getting more than 3 kills? Is that it? Kills?
2 -
People just hate her and she's pretty hard for the average player to counter and have fun against is the reason for this I'm sure. My friends stopped playing because of her. They'd rather just watch me play instead of play themselves and it kinda sucks.

How does Nurse require “effort” whereas Spirit doesn’t? Nurse has to hold down a M2 until it lines up with her target range, release M2 then hit M1. Takes practice and muscle memory, but it’s not rocket science. Nurse can see survivors at all times while doing this, can teleport through walls and can use aura perks to help in chase/tracking like I’m all ears/nurse’s calling.
Spirit has to hold M2 until she tracks her target (the MAJORITY of survivors run Iron Will, hard counter), release M2 and then hit M1- kind of similar huh? Can’t see auras while in phase (so no I’m All Ears, or sneak up using Nurse’s Calling).
Nurse is basically the most BS killer in the game but “no one” complains about her because she “takes skill”.
The main gripe about Spirit is that you can’t see her while she’s phasing (which is the point, duh) and now the devs are taking that away from her with the dust-kicking feature.
Phasing sound being audible to everyone is honestly not the worst change, but the additional nerfs were not needed.

She seemed to be “overperforming” here on the forums. Next we’re gonna see a ton of “nerf nurse” threads.
11 -
I don't know. I think the idea of having to aim and predict a person is more of a skill than moving at 176% with full control while staring at the ground as you chase someone.
11 -
where i can read info about the nerf?
0 -
If they have Iron Will it’s also a guess.
3 -
I predict Blight. I see more complaints about him than Nurse and Nurse has been out far longer.
And I personally hate playing against Blight so great. Any Blight mains that want Spirit nerfed into the ground can enjoy it when it's their turn.
1 -
Out of curiosity, what's your reasoning for thinking that? With the definition of "nerf" being "decrease in power," of course.
0 -
True, but aren't scratch marks still a thing when you phase?
My ears aren't as good as they used to be, so I need to use my eyes a lot more, so it never really bothered me too much when I played as her
2 -
They better not nerf nurse cause it takes so many hours to learn her right.
0 -
Wraith has been getting complained about A LOT for the last few months.
5 -
blight main who wanted spirit nerfed reporting in :) why should your killer get you better results with less effort?
2 -
"Effort" is subjective. But its ok. I'll be here dancing when Alchemist's Ring, Crow, and Compound 33 are deleted, his hitbox gets shrunk, and he gets Adrenaline Vial basekit "to add more skill into playing as and against Blight".
1 -
I get curiosity but it doesn't matter. Statistical data should hardly ever be the reason for balance changes.
1 -
My money is on Blight. It'll follow the same Stridor/Iron Will/Spirit scenario except with Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer and then Blight himself.

I believe she was unfair, and people were getting kills with her because what she can do is very powerful but requires very little skill to finesse.
Not exactly overpowered, but not good for the game in the current state.
5 -
Alchemist's ring is ridiculous. It does nothing for new blights and when you consistently hit rush attacks you just...win harder. Compound 33 had its nerf already, I'd miss speed addons but he has so many good ones I can live with it.
They may gut him eventually but considering how long it took them to deal with spirit I think I'll be rushing long after your standing still days are gone ;)
2 -
I dunno where you got the majority of survivors using Iron Will from considering that not even 10% of survivors pick Iron Will in red ranks alone lol.
Spirit can hear survivors and see scratch marks, grass movement, etc. Anyone with ears and eyes can play her well.

oh. the addon pass for wraith will certainly nerf his best addons because of those outcrys. all seeing is getting changed i guarantee.
0 -
I'd be happy for the devs to nerf Blight's addons if they can just stop him from sliding off of every other wall.
Given how much I love this game it makes me sad that my greatest wish is for BHVr to make the game functional on its most basic levels.
0 -
I feel that. Especially swamp or the vaseline lodge on ormond, that's always a chore
0 -
Not over powered, but more extremely unfair to play against as the survivor has literally nothing to work with. It was just blind guessing on the survivors part while spirit has everything she needs to work with.
2 -
Sure with the major playerbase being medium low skill playet her kill rate must be like 74%
0 -
I can take a screenshot of every postgame for 100 games. Guarantee there will be AT LEAST one Iron Will user in over half of those games.
1 -
That SHOULD be a requirement. Especially in a post mmr world. But you are technically correct.
2 -
Wraith.
The one after it: Trickster
6 -
Here you go. Last offical kill rates we got.
But they are exactly 1 year old.
2 -
The only thing overperforming with respect to spirit was cry baby sore loser-ism.
What made her great was how unpredictable she could be. Telegraphing her power will now just result in the same run around the same rock 6 times BS that every other killer has to deal with.
Bummer.
I hope they don't crush her to much.

Yep, another 110% speed killer with a worthless, easily-countered power. Survivors don't want "counterplay". They want reliable counterplay, meaning the killer has no counterplay.
But hey, as long as the survivors can hump pallets for a few mins and get that ePiC eScApe before spending more money on cosmetics, right?
11 -
Blight
2 -
No, Wraith is in their cross hairs along with Tinkerer, you know, because contrary to what they claim on here, they don't want to get in chases. They'd rather hold m1 for 4.5 minutes, open the gates, t-bag and leave.
2 -
Lets hope they don't billy this up and damage the killer so much so they are miserable to play. For those who mained spirit I highly suggest preparing to main nurse and blight because the past few killer reworks have been quite a mixed bag.
1 -
BHVR shouldn't 100% obey stats but instead follow a mix of stats and what the playerbase wants. The vast majority blatantly doesn't find Spirit fun. It doesn't matter if I mop the floors with one and break their ankles or they murder me. My enjoyment from that game is going to be about the same which is very low.
3 -
its a nerf was not because she was op, they said its because the guessing was unfun.
0 -
The only killer I don't like other than spirit is nurse. I hope nurse goes down to spirits current level.
0 -
Well I would hope not cause then people would stop playing killer.
0 -
I think she was overperforming unfun...
0 -
Usually I see teammates under performing. Making bad plays like sitting at short pallet loops or running straight into dead zones.
2 -
This is the reason why I almost never, ever find a killer frustrating to go against, and almost always (at least mostly before MMR) get frustrated by my teammates more than literally anything.
1 -
Wouldn’t surprise if these were a big part of why killers get nerfed.
5 -
They are doing an addon pass for wraith so expect anything decent to be removed.
2 -
The change log said Spirit was strong (which is undeniably true), but they never said she was overperforming.
They changed her to increase he skill ceiling and create more meaningful gameplay.
In short, they said "we thought the way we designed her would be fun go against. It doesn't appear to be so. We are changing her to make her more fun to go against."
1 -
The amount of QQ in this thread had me thinking they nerfed a survivor perk.
Anyone who thinks Spirit is dumpstered without knowing specifics of the additions (how loud the footprints are or how much dust is kicked up) is an idiot.
