What is the actual point of the grades?
I'm kind of just asking, I don't get the point to me it seems that having a ranking/grading system in your game on top of skill based matchmaking doesn't work.
I don't know maybe I'm being dumb or looking at it the wrong way
Are your lobbies based of skill, if so what is the point of grades
Are they based off of grades, if so what is the point of sbmm
Someone help me understand

Bloodpoints. At the end of the month you're getting bloodpoints based on your grade. This is the only one purpose of grades

Yeah, that really the only reason I play is to hit iri 1 so i can get the 250k bp

So that people can say things like "why am I being matched with gold players when I'm a bronze? SBMM is stupid"

It's not a joke. It is intended by devs to show you how much bloodpoints you'll get. Nothing else

Things like that are what made me realize these 2 systems don't work together and do nothing other than show as much

That can't be true, why would they change it from the old system they could have just left it and slapped a bp prize to each colour group.
Then again this is BHVR so anything is possible

Grades are reworked ranks.
The issue with ranks is that they were not good at indicating skill, they were better at showing your time invest investment in a month. That's why grades completely reset instead of going down a colour.
They are not used for matchmaking, they are simply a reward for playing a lot and doing well in a month.

Because they wanted to improve the matchmaker. This has been in the works for over a year now, if I'm not mistaken.

Its a metric that shows if you play a lot, or not, and determiner the reward you ll have each month.

To confuse people.
