Will we ever get an intresting new survivor.
Every new survivor is the same modernish era like why cant we get a 18th century girl accused of being a witch or a WW2 soildier or an ancienct roman or egyptian. Like compared to killers where we have nurse from an old asylum around WW1(IIRC), an ancient priestess, a samuri, some forest lady from around WW2(IIRC), some french peasants from the 1600 and a mad alchemist from the 1800. Survivors are all too samey imo its all X proffesion from X place and from 1970s-2020s and from the teasers this trend doesnt look like its gonna change even though the hints were towards a witchy survivor so I had just a little bit of hope maybe it was someone falsy accused from the Salem witch trials but with the video teaser it seems it will just be a stage performer from X country from 1970s-2020s

At this point, I'm wondering if there is some lore reason that Survivors have to be all from the same Era. Withholding the licensed characters, all of them could easily be from the present.

Agreed, did ask this myself awhile back. Although might be a bit odd to see a 1600s french peasant repairing a generator, but still, David manages it and he looks thick as #########.

I mean, a survivor from the past would probably panic if he saw a generator moving or a flashlight.

Plague seems pretty chill about it and so do the Twins.

They also seem pretty chill about the cosmic spider god that tells them to kill, so

They don't interact with generators or items themselves. They just damage gens but any animal could do this.

I think it's because they want the survivors to be relatable to us.You can't really relate with a girl from the 18th century, also cosmetic options would be really limited.

considering the ease of skillchecks I think an animal could repair gens.
EDIT: Not an insult to survivors. Just yeah skillchecks are easy.

There's no way you expect a survivor from ancient Egypt to comprehend the concept of a generator. Let alone understand how a flashlight works.

Pretty sure it’s not about the actual in-game mechanic but lore mechanic that is being talked about?
and the devs have actually stated that that’s the reason survs are from the modern era. Though they might change their view on that. They also once said there would never be a Clown as Killer after all..

I mean many survivors wouldnt have a clue how to fix a generator. Im pretty sure that the entity helps people fix them.

It would have to make sense right? Someone from the past wouldn't know what a generator is and be able to repair one. I think modern survivors are fine

Alternatively, we could just get really cool cosmetics from various eras. I wish they would crank out more cosmetic collections that included a larger number of characters. The Greek Collection is nice but it will take decades for everyone to get a Greek outfit.

There's a lot of eras they can play with. They do it pretty frequently with killers, so I don't see why survivors can't do the same.
Maybe one of those charlatans from the turn of the century who pretended to be mediums with cheesecloth. Or a member from a runaway cult in the 60s turning their life around in the 70s/80s. Maybe even a victim of a ritual Aztec sacrifice. There's lots of cool examples historically that could link very easily to the horror genre (not that they have to considering most of the survivors we have, but still).

I really am surprised they haven't touched WWI, it's such a grim ######### era of time. I'm wondering if there's something in place to prevent them from touching real world wars, events, tragedies, etc.

Well Nurse has a WW1 outfite with the whole gasmask and Ace has an outfit from WW2 so I doubt they are not allowed to make refrences to them

Why does a music producer know how to repair an generator that is a different model to any real world one. DBDs lore doesnt make much sense. There is a space spider interdimensional god that almost got beat twice by regular people.

Oh that is true, yeah I got nothing then.

I mean there is a theoretical reason average lifespan was pretty low so they probably wouldn't have the same feeling of needing to survive to see tomorrow when tomorrow on average brings some sort of plauge or flu with it vs modern survivors whos life expectancy if they were to survive mindsets aren't as limited by those setbacks so their brains can be more emotional about it
so its more about the quality of the survivors and being from the modern area leads with it more emotional survival

Alternative timelines would be good. Add new survivors who were once killers. Trapper, Hillbilly, Nurse, etc, as humans before trauma (Evan MacMillan, Max Thompson, Sally Smithson, etc) and at least one advantage that relates to their basic power as killer.

Every survivor are the same its only a skin with 3 new perk. So i dont think any survivor will be interessting
