Are you satisfied with your solo q teammates after SBMM came into the game?

I'm not very satisfied if I'm honest.

I feel like it's gotten a little better, but it's still far from perfect.

A week ago i had an evening in which i had a nice / good team in almost every game.

Beside that evening it happens to me too often that i just get really bad teammates.

How about you?

I've been noticing better teammates on my games for sure. Sometimes I get matched with obviously newer players but it's been pretty positive as a whole. Much better than the rainbow ranks I was getting matched nearly every game with pre-SBMM!

I just posted in 'ask the community' about this.

I use to see killer/survivor working together maybe a couple times a year, but I have seen it 4 times this month (2 of them last night)!

I am not sure if its connected to sbmm but its very odd for me. My matches have either great teammates or there is 1-2 people making the match miserable for the rest (suicide, not playing, afk, working with killer, etc).

Not perfect but better than the old system.

Advice, at start, go away from your spawn place to start a gen to the opposite side, it will change your trials a ton. Just doing this will improve your win rate.

Most survivors, even at high MMR start a gen directly at their spawn and then you often end up in a 3 gens situation if you do it too.

Also, if there is a gen on the middle of the map, it must be the 1st gen you do or the 2nd one. Do it as most survivors won't go there as it is "dangerous".

    :)

Mostly im happy. I don't mind if i meet someone new or bad or whatever cause I'm not perfect too, but mostly I'm happy. My escape rate skyrocket after MMR hit.

Before that i used to play with people who Dc on first hook, or dc cause they don't like map or killer or whatever other reason or suicide because survivor didn't run to save them in first 3 sec which is rare now.

Working together with the killer also happens to me more often than before.

But maybe it's just bad luck?

  • GamerEzra
    GamerEzra Member Posts: 941

Most of my games i try to do the gen in the middle first.

If i have really bad teammates i don't have to worry about 3 gen situations, because we will probably die at 3 gens remaining. 😥

For the first week, I was very satisfied. It's been steadily getting worse since then. Teammates have been, quite frankly, stupid, and that's very annoying as someone who tries to play safe and smart.

Why is the survivor who is injured and on death hook going for a save instead of the two healthy teammates? Why is the injured person staying on a 50% gen inside the killer's TR as they hook another survivor? Why are we triple stacking on gens at the start of the game without Prove Thyself? In short, why aren't players thinking about the macro game even a little bit?

Not always and it still depends on the time of the day a little bit. But it is more consistent than before.

Overall better quality teammates. But take my opinion with a pinch of salt. I dont expect every survivor i play with to loop the more complex killers. My escape rate as well has skyrocketed. Alongside my killer queues.

Overall sbm has made my killer games misrable mostly due to increased queue times and increased frequency of map offerings to poorly designed maps. Survivor games have been much better but then the games have gotten much more consistently shorter.

    xenotimebong Member Posts: 2,803

Meh. It really seems to depend on when I play. If I play evenings, I get better teammates who seem to have some understanding of the game. If I play in the daytime they're typically quite bad.

Today, for example, I played a match where two teammates went down in the first 40 seconds of the match to the same Bubba chainsaw charge. Like, ######### is that? How are people making mistakes like that outside of their first 50 hours in the game???

I don't think my MMR is at the top but it shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom either. Not that I think this system is necessarily much better than the old one, and if it's based just on escapes as people have suggested, it's not a measure of skill and ability so much as it is a measure of luck, meta perks, items and comms IMO. Really good players will die quite often in solo queue just because of the luck of the draw (teammates, teammate perks, the killer, the killer's perks, the map, map tile spawns, etc. etc. etc.).

Mostly? Yeah, my Survivor games are way better. At least on the teammate side of things. They at least do #########.

I get face camped more often now because the gens actually get done and I'm decent at looping, but hey, what can you do.

Very satisfied with mine. Sure, occasionally I get afk survivors or some that want to lower their rating. But mostly it's fine.

It's been great for me overall! Honestly, there have been a couple or so trials where one survivor did seem out of place, but overall I'd say they are a good match. Matches have been challenging and tense, but ultimately very rewarding.

  • Apollos
    Apollos Member Posts: 1,052

Nothing has changed too much in my experience.

One match I'll get teammates that will let me die because they're too scared to approach me on hook or too scared to take a hit, and the next we'll all band together and bumrush the killer to get our last surviving teammate out. It's rarely too consistent.

I ouldnt rule out that behaviour has played around with the matchmaking behind the scenes to accomodate lopsided queue times or something.

On average they're much better than before. There are exceptions to that though

I still have the same type of teammates who hide in corners, selfcare after a safe rescue or prefer to let you die on hook to escape themselves, opens the door and storms out of the game etc...

    So no, not at all

  • xenotimebong
    xenotimebong Member Posts: 2,803

I feel the same. I’d be surprised if they hadn’t tweaked it at all, queue times seem more consistent for sure. Or maybe people’s scores normalised a bit over time so there’s a more even spread of players now.

"No" isn't a strong enough word.

I get teammates who do nothing. Tons of teammates who crouch around the map afraid to touch gens. If they make a save, they don't have BT and they don't take aggro. It's awful, an absolutely miserable experience.

Ever seen a person make it to 5 gens done and the exit gates open with only 163 BP? I have. I kinda wish we'd all died instead of giving them 7k+ BP for an escape they didn't even help with.

  • ObscurityDragon
    ObscurityDragon Member Posts: 710

Worse is, if you die you loose and the MMR puts you with people that are lower then what you just had in theory

Yup. I had a streak of good games with actual decent teammates. They did gens, they made saves even in the EGC. It was amazing. I sacrificed myself once to get a Tome challenge done and have done pretty much nothing but die since. One death tanked it all and it gets worse with each match.

  • burt0r
    burt0r Member Posts: 4,163

I fear that they while implementing a new matchmaking criteria, kept the capped MMR ceiling aka formerly rank 1 and the widening of matchmaking when queues get too long which would ultimately make the change completely obsolete.

At some point the majority would end up at the ceiling and then lower MMR would again get matched with them to shorten queue times.

What i dont get is despite having more survivors who seem to have played the game more on average, there are still players playing like they only picked the game up a few days ago.

high mmr = still get teammates who have no self awareness and not more than 2 braincells.could get gate worked on until it hits 99 then u can both heal? nah lets heal first, then work on the door. ohh wait its too late now, killer is coming....

divebombers everywhere, wont wait 5 seconds for the killer to leave, straight unhooks, now both players end up going down.

Lets still do all the gens on 1 side of the map, even with atleast some knowledge of the game, lets all still do all the gens on 1 side, hehe 3 genning fun hehe.........

    sometimes i lose it man.

I made stats that im wanting to post here

After around 20 games my games became hell from the teammates and the killer

    And the fun died along

For the most part, my teammates have been way worse. Like...scared little bunnies who bolt if they even hear a possible heartbeat at some point in the last two minutes scared. The "I literally just started the game and am pee my pants frightened at everything" scared.

I don't know if I should feel super insulted as if BHVR is putting me with these people means BHVR thinks I'm at this level or what. It is common that I will get a ton of points but always die as I seem to be the only one doing things (Unless I get hooked first, then there's a coin flip of a chance that I'm going to die up there).

I REALLY hope it gets better because this has been brutal. I never go into Solo Queue expecting greatness but insert the "Our expectations were low but Holy #########" meme here when it has come to Solo Queuing the last week or two...

    CluelessWanderer Member Posts: 939

My team mates are more likely to fully open the gates (instead of 99% the doors) and run out even if I'm on my first hook, there's NO 'Noed", and after I've saved their arses all game.

I've been stuck with 3 man SWF's where I'm basically used and discarded.

My solo Q has been great generally getting players who are around my level. But the matches I get when playing with one friend is completely random, will have 3 matches where my teammates are all under 200hrs played and then the killer has over 2000, and then the next match is the opposite.

I think the consistency of matches when playing with friends is very off atm.

It depends because I play solo alot more than swf, I have endured all kinds of teammates like good/helpful,bad/selfish,toxic,inexperienced,trolls,works with killers, etc. It has its ups and downs..

But honestly,I don't see much of a difference..even before sbmm/mmr came, still feels the the same

Not in the slightest it's so ######### inconsistent I get teammates who hide in corners and don't do gens and it turns out they have 3 hours on the game

Or they are the best teammates possible and actually know how to play the game

Mmr is literally more inconsistent in my opinion

Not all all. It's a 90% horrible teammayes and 10% amazing teammates. I'm apart of the top 5% of survivors I'd say, but this game puts me with what feels like rank 12 to 20. It feels like cod matchmaking where your a S tier player, and the other team doesnt have one so they put idiots on your team to balance it out.

  • Advorsus
    Advorsus Member Posts: 1,033

Not really. Most games go like this. Spawn in, killer finds me in about 5 seconds, run the killer for 2-3 minutes. Finally downs me, hooks me, still no gens done. Running kindred specifically so I can see what everyone is going, they're all hiding in a corner and crouch walking everywhere. Finally get unhooked after going to second stage. Killer comes back to tunnel me, which is fine. Run him for 2-3 more minutes, still no gens done, teammates are still crouching in corners. Get hooked and die, 5k BP earned because I had 0 opportunity to do anything else.

This is about 90% of my teams. And the other 10% are just barely decent enough to where most of us survive.

And if I'm not found first, I'm working on a gen while the other survivor goes down in 10 seconds, then another survivor tries to unhook in front of the killer, and then the final survivor runs over before the person is even hooked, and tries to body block, and goes down almost instantly. Then there's 3 on a hook with only me, and a killer that's just face camping them. Which I'm okay with because why would he have any reason to leave that spot? I either have to come to him to try and save people, or sit in a corner for hatch.

Now kindred is a must have in every match. Cause if I run a killer for 5 minutes and get hooked, and see nobody on a gen at all and none have been done, I'm just killing myself first hook and moving on to the next match, just praying that I get better teammates.

I must be really bad at survivor but my randoms are self caring against a sloppy legion and hide in lockers with deep wounds, so I’m not really satisfied. Same for killer when I go against a 4man with 4BT 4DH 4DS and 4BNPs that complain in the EGC when I run Crow/ring on Blight
