Why do you keep playing DBD?
For some reason, I randomly wondered today why I keep playing this game (even though I do take breaks).
And I realized, DBD is basically just "Tag." Sure, it's cloaked in horror and violence, but it is "Tag" nonetheless. One person is "it" (the Killer) and everyone else is trying to avoid being "it" or "out" (Killed) (depends on how you played Tag growing up). What makes me like to play is, I like the chase. I like seeing how long I can last before someone "catches" me or gives up. The "fear" factor wore off a long time ago for me, too. So really, it's just a grown up, computerized version of "Tag."
So if there's another game out there that does "Tag" better than DBD, then maybe people like me will lose interest in this one and stop returning to it. I dunno . . .
What about you guys? Why do you keep playing?

To play as iconic killers without playing old Mortal Kombat games or Call of Duty...

To fill the emptiness of my soul.

I keep playing because it's a lot of fun.

Name another game that allows you to play movie icons like Leatherface , Michael Myers , Freddy Krueger or game icons like Pyramid Head and Nemesis.

I enjoy the variety each trial has and trying out different combinations of perks and techniques.
Also, it's good for me to approach each trial as a fresh, new one rather than carry any ill-feelings from previous trials or things that I've read. Best way to approach it.

Greatest love story in all of DBD . . .

The completionist in me is like "must play and prestige all the killers to 3 then you will be free" so here I am still. I took a long long break from the game a while back, but started playing again because it is kind of fun sometimes.

After 4 years and over 1100 hours...

It's a fun game and I like it.

Simply put, there's no other game like it. Not to mention it's fun being able to play as iconic killers. That being said, the SBMM has made the game far more sweatier in higher ranks. In my region, it feels as though players with high MMR on killer have quit playing. Survivor teams with high MMR are being matched against killers that are far more casual or inexperienced than they are. I don't play a lot of killer, but lately when I do I've been getting steamrolled, which shouldn't be happening with SBMM. As such I don't see myself playing killer at all anymore.

I don't have anything else to play

Because I have fun.
4,000+ hours and still enjoying almost every match - there are some duds here and there, but the fun ones far outweigh those.

I'm with you on that. I'm slowly doing that for the Survivors. Must be prestige three with every perk in the game at tier 3. Lottttttttaaaaaa blood points.

Honestly, it's the worst, though I have only 4 killers left to prestige 3, myers, pig, cenobite, and the tyrant after I finish I think I am just going to give up on my plan on prestige 3ing all the survivors because ohmygosh I don't even want to know how many bloodpoints I spent.
At least I have the original survivors all prestige 3 besides dwight I don't really like playing as dwight sadly. Feng Min and Nurse both have all the perks in the game, so for survivor I don't really need to play anyone else and Nurse is just fun I guess not sure what else to say about her lol.

Because VHS hasn’t released yet…
All joking aside the OP has inspired me to start mentally yelling “GO TO JAIL” every time I slug. My neighborhood played the version called “Cops and Robbers”.

If I answer this truthfully, I'll just depress the entire forum so I'll just say the times I can do cool plays and have good chases is fun.

It's a genuinely fun game. 25 killers to choose from with different powers, 182 perks overall for creativity, and every game will usually be different.

Lol I played cops and robbers too.
Oh, to be that little again, innocently running around, playing with friends . . .
Now we digitally do it while shoving a hook through their backs. 😳

Awww now I'm wondering what your reason is, and if you're doing okay.
But yes, cool plays and "oh my God I cannot believe that worked!" thrills are one of the reasons I keep playing, too.

For a very long time, DBD provided me with a level of enjoyment that no other game could. I literally loved everything about it: maps, visuals, characters, ambience...Everything.
When the reworks started killing everything, my love for what the game once was kept me around for some time. But there is always a limit.
Let it be known that, if DBD returns to be the same game that I fell in love with back in 2018, then I shall return to the Fog.

Good a reason as any

Playing games was always a side hobby, i used to work for the better part of my life.I have become noticeably disabled by my peers,so when everyone abandoned me ,video game's filled that gap, well at least it's been entertaining for the most part,so now,I focus on creating content for games and since, I've always been a horror fan,DBD fits right along with that agenda of creating stuff that you have a passion and love for.So that's why I play DBD, i was creating content for Friday but for some reason, I erased all my video's because, I thought they were not interesting but Ochido exist ,so now I'm not sure where to go from here with my vids so I, do a bunch of random stuff hoping,I would catch my stride .
That's why always ask them to change my name to because it's part of my brand ,but they want so there's that.

A lot of players are addicted to DBDs various player investment mechanics, even if they don't realize it or will admit it.
The best thing I did was to give up on the rifts, just use the tome for more BP now and again, and don't bother with the rift, it isn't worth the time investment. Don't bother with dailies either. Let go of things like that and you will have more fun playing the game and you will play it much less instead of every day.

Because it's a nice breath of fresh air from what I usually play. The usual games I play are from Nintendo, Platform Fighters (btw still can't wait for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl), and for the most part games that look nice.
DBD is the main game I go to for when I want to see something different from what I usually see, because I don't feel like putting money into another horror game when I could buy the 3D Kirby game coming in 2022.

Don't see a reason to stop playing the game when i'm still having fun.
Well that's not true actually, i can think of multiple reasons why i would stop playing while still having fun gameplay-wise but i haven't hit any of those reasons yet.

Because I love this game and I'm still having fun, and I'm on PS4. This game has been the best it's been since I started playing in late 2019.

I like the lore.

I usually play high intensity shooters with fast lobbies or with mates which doesn't give me room to do little real life things while I game, so I like that with DBD I don't need to be as focused and can do productive irl things while queuing and stuff

Other games that have grind to them are more complicated. I like the simplicity of play game, get points, use points to level characters. Play game, get points, user points for characters/cosmetics/upgrades.

Because it's so unique and I have fun playing it. I can easily go and play 10 free to play popular shooter games or battle royale games, but there is only one DBD. No other games are like it in the slightest.
1 -
Well, there is terrordrome, that horror movie video game street fighter. But i guess you don't really play as killers, it's more like killers killing each other. Lol
0 -
Idk. But I love dbd.
0 -
You're right. Anytime I've heard a "this is going to be the next DBD," it isn't.

The lore, the gameplay, The killers having different powers is awesome!, The the licensed characters of course. Oh and i'm a huge horror fan! This game does have negatives but it doesn't outweigh the positives. At least for me anyway :)

Archive Challenges. And I want to get every Survivor to P3-lvl50

Quite a couple things. I love horror, and this is a really fun game to play with my friends. I like the characters a lot as well. Trickster obviously makes up for a huge part of me staying on DBD as well — with his lore, aesthetic, and kit. And just the overall gameplay itself is fun. The majority of the community is really nice too and I feel like I fit in here compared to any other game I play.

Its fun.

Sunk Cost Fallacy, beause of the time and money I have already invested in the game I am reluctant to stop.
