Why are they adding more objectives for killers?
Boon totems are a bruh momento for m1 machete man.

Clearly killers have too much time on their hands.

Going on a scavenger hunt as a Killer instead of...killing...is apparently fun, thematic and balanced.
Add to the fact that Survivors can attach MULTIPLE Boon perks to a single totem is equally hilarious.
17 -
Yeah probably should be playing on survivor side instead. They put maximum focus on a match after all unlike a killer who can just leisure listen to music and win.
13 -
It is sad to say but I have to agree with killers on this one adding boon totems seems like it will heavily disrupt the balance between games because the killers have on more thing to do during the game. hex totems made sense because 4 people can look for it but boon totems only one person looks for them and there are going to be a lot of them everywhere meaning instead of kicking gens and chasing they are going to be searching for another objective. this is going to be painful for killers
22 -
Because killers have been giving survivors extra objectives?
6 -
when you are such an extreme survivor main you cant see the problems with the other role, lack of empathy aswell. survivors objective is WASY EASIER to complete, survivors have way more time in their hands to do stuff, the killer was already on a clock rush and now is gonna be worse.
19 -
Would you much rather prefer going from totem to totem to get rid of all of their perks?
1 -
Shame on Survivors for putting on a new perk that can be destroyed instead of rushing Gens. Don't they understand the Killer mains don't want them doing anything extra?!?
6 -
But Boon Totem's aren't destroyed, if a killer Cleanses them they can be re-ignited on that same Totem (or any other one) infinitely.
Yeah, that's fair. Poor Hag & Trapper!
12 -
I love how everyone is glazing over the fact that boons are going to be a side objective for survivors as well.
It takes time to bless and put a boon in place. It's already been confirmed that should a Killer find said boon totem they can remove it very quickly = a potential waste of the survivors time.
And we don't even know if the boons will be worthwhile either. I swear.. Watch the boons have weak effects and nobody end up using them 😔
But yeah, the way I'm seeing it is this is incentivizing survivors to do something other than gens and nobody is thinking on that lol additionally it will hopefully be fun. I really like the idea behind it and adding more mechanics into the game. Again this is all too early to be throwing tantrums over but hey go off
7 -
Not only that but the survivors can just up and bless the killer's hex totem, taking away their perk for the game because when the killer snuffs out that boon, it reverts back to a dull totem, not a hex totem... So it's literally more beneficial to just bless totems instead of breaking them now.
4 -
I'm going to laugh if this is the case. The community has an extremely bad habit of overreacting over things.
Also if you think about it if boon totems are similar to hex totems then the killer shouldn't have to worry about it. It's an objective but it's not a mandatory objective. You can completely finish a game with all your hex totems up. If it's not mandatory for survivors why would it be mandatory for killers to destroy. If the boon effect is weak this shows this even more.
3 -
Eh, I see it as a brilliant nerf to NOED myself. NOED can't fire if there are no Dull Totems left. (And if you complain about NOED firing when you could be making boons for your team, most of us are just going to laugh at you now)
To me it seems like a good way to get survivors off gens and on totems which was sorely needed. It will slow the game down and it doesn't feel bad now that most totems aren't pathetically easy to find.
3 -
It's a side objective for 1/4 people as opposed to the person that does not have a team.
20 seconds to a survivor vs. A killer is a very different time frame.
4 -
It cannot be destroyed though. Once the killer removes the boon, the totem becomes dull again which can once again become blessed by the same or another survivor. So the killer can never permanently remove the perk from survivors, only other survivors can by destroying totems.
9 -
They don't play the game at any level that matters which means their entire design process goes: concept --> paper --> implementation.
Normal folks would ask about the testing phase, to which I very politely respond with "lmao."
0 -
Because the game is just a survivor circus. Killers are the entertainment.
9 -
With a hex perk being the primary time balancer for practically all high sbmm matches, I can see why killers are concerned.
2 -
Sluzzy is a nurse main if I remember.
1 -
He mains trollgard.
5 -
He's def a troll. But can't say I don't find his trolls funny.
2 -
The problem is survivors have all the time in the world lmao again they're 4 people and the killer is one person and investing time igniting boons means the killer has to waste time destroying it and that's where the problem shows. Survivors have time, Killer doesn't.
Then we go into more complicated stuff like totem placement. Most killer don't have the leisure of mobility to waste time just going from place to place. Only Freddy has that time on the M1 killers list since he has built in power to be on top of generators immediately.
As for how powerful boons are. It would be pretty worthless if it doesn't do anything when the developers were to proud of their big brain idea. At least it would be annoying throughout the whole match because that's how hex are and that can be an incentive for killers to remove it wait even if they want to remove it they don't have the time lol.
3 -
You would think that would be the point of test servers for people to test ideas but implement it anyway the next week regardless of feedback lol
0 -
That's why I've always said, they're not test servers, they're hype servers.
0 -
They have heard the community's complaints about survivors needing more objectives. So they gave the killer more objectives that they can't even permanently remove from the game.
2 -
To me its more of a im too late to back up now thing. He is the unoficial mascot of this forums at this point.
0 -
Bc they always think "how can we make this surv game sided even more surv sided?"
3 -
Sluzzy is the best troll but the problem is the devs seem to think he's got some good ideas hehe
0 -
Well, maybe now killers will spend their time more efficiently instead of camping or tunneling, right?
1 -
Survivors don't have all the time in the world though. Time is precious to both sides. Completing gens is top priority and the games objective but survivor has a plethora of other side objectives that they can do/certain perks encourage.
Boons will be another perk that encourages survivors to seek out and bless totems encouraging a side objective other than gens. Unless the boons offer some insane bonus to repair speed I highly doubt that they will become this great issue that you're all making them out to be. Killer doesn't HAVE to waste their time looking for and breaking them.
Again it's all too early to tell since we need to see what the actual boons do. Obviously they won't do "nothing" and I'm sure they also won't have some crazy effects like Ruin. I'm expecting a middle ground otherwise people just won't run them at all.
Again, they are going to encourage survivors to do something other than gens. Literally what more do killers want

To make the gameplay more engaging. I do not mind more stuff to do during the match.

As if killers already don't have enough on their plate, let's add these boon totems!
0 -
killer just bring haunted grounds plus 3 other hex perks, boom all 5 dull totems occupied, no boon perks
0 -
I'm convinced they're just subtly trying to make the game so easy for survivors that KILLERS just quit altogether lol
0 -
The replacement AI still isn't there. Just yesterday I faced a Nemesis and twice zombies face camped hooked survivors.
0 -
The Nemesis zombies AI is still lacking a lot. Half of the time in my games, depending on the map, my zombies will be stuck on a rock or between trees or something. Even if I go and whack 'em, they'll just go and find another rock/tree to hug. It's both funny and frustrating just how unreliable and RNG they are lol.
2 -
lol?
boon works on hex too and destrory the effect....
0 -
Time isn't as precious for Survivor in comparison lmao. I never had a single match I was stressed out to the brim on managing what's happening to the game compared to the killer. This isn't even rocket science. You have 4 people in your team that could pick up your mistakes if you weren't paying attention and in that same vain you have 3 other people doing what needs to be done.
Ah yes. The totems that spawn beside you or the first tile you see lol. Boons doesn't have to be overpowered. It only has to be annoying enough that Killer is plagued by it by the entirety of the match. Despite the killer being annoyed by it he barely has any time to even destroy it.
Are you thinking this through? The survivor doing something else means the killer has to do something about it as well. That's the problem mate. It makes sense if ONLY the survivor has to think about a secondary objective. Why the hell does a killer have to put some thought on doing about it when his schedule is packed already through the brim. Especially if you're an M1 killer with no mobility?
0 -
Except that they might not do that. I reckon, in high level play, most survivors won't bother to activate their boon on anything else than a hex totem (if boon totems are not absurdly strong). Blessing a hex totem is a double win for survivor - it removes the hex and grants them the boon.
So either boon totems become a monstrosity of power to make "efficient" survivors actually bother with them or those survivors will only use them on hex totems (by the way.. how does a boon totem interact with Undying? Could be a stealth/unintended nerf to Ruin+Undying).
Which then again means that efficient survivors will NOT have any additional objective. Those survivors will have cleansed the hex totem anyways. So instead of just spending a few seconds to cleanse the hex, they'll spend the same amount of time to cleanse a hex AND get a boon on top of it.

You could just... play normally.
They have a literal sound que for Boon Totems, idk how it'll be so hard to find.
Your choice how you distribute pressure; nothing has changed.
0 -
Yeah you're right.
0 -
People getting upset when they arent even in the game yet, lol
0 -
Here you go.

I think u didnt got it they can cleanse ur hex and put a boon totem on urs.

They are now at least in PTB and I'm lol'ing that I'm right.
