I still don’t get how the devs sent this to live.

Everytime I get the RPD map, I just get to spend the experience walking around and just thinking about how the devs thought this map would be a good idea. Map so big that’s it’s impossible to control/rotate properly on, especially on 110% killers, also it’s a closed indoors map so playing certain killers on this map means that you don’t get to use their power, so many confusing twist and turns, so many god pallets and loops that cannot be mind gamed so there’s no counter play, hooks that despite right under each other require you to walk 100 FT and then go down 7 flights of stairs to reach them so if you down someone in a certain part of the map you just won’t be able to hook them without iron grasp or agitation. And on the survivor side is equally annoying trying to navigate your way through this labyrinth to find a gen. Despite being able to play test this map for hours on end, hearing our complaints before it went live, they still sent it through. I don’t care how aesthetically cool or how “true to the game” it is. All that wears off after 30 seconds into the first play through and after that it just becomes a chore. Stop prioritizing aesthetics over gameplay.

I guess it's not fair to speculate about how the map got made (though I have some theories about it). Bottom line, it's too big and too difficult to navigate. If we measured the size based on how many steps you have to take to get from one side of the map to the other, it would actually seem even larger than it does when we measure it in tiles, because the maze structure makes it so that you have to walk a lot farther to get anywhere.

I'm honestly not sure there's anyone who prefers the indoor maps to outdoor ones, but this one amplifies all of the indoor map problems. You have no visibility. You run into surprise walls. It's hard to find objectives. At least on the other indoor maps there's a hallway you can run around to loop the whole thing, and get to the region you want to be in. In RPD, good luck.

Technically there's three floors if you count the library cause in the game, that library leads to yet another part of the map you have to go to for a puzzle and evade Mr. X which I'm thankful they didn't include that part of the third floor. But yeah I agree the map is way too large. It definitely should be divided in sections.

The map is beautiful, but I definitely agree it's hard to play on especially on the killer side. Especially with the statement regarding 110% killers. I one-trick Trickster and I've gotten that map I think around 3 times now with him?

I run Discordance on him and it's very common for it to notify me as soon as the match starts of 2+ survivors on a gen since they typically spawn by one together — and usually it'll be one of the farthest gens.

If I'm across the map on RPD and I'm running towards the discordanced gen with Trickster's 110% movement speed, even if I take the fastest way there and manage to not get lost — there have been multiple times the gen pops before I can even get there. Just purely because of the distance/weird layout and Trickster being 110%.

It's not suitable for dbd gameplay. They should've gone for another location in the RE franchise. Splitting the map would help, but only a little.

I definitely prefer indoor maps. Or I did. I suppose with Hawkins leaving, that sentiment is weaker. Then again, I am normally playing stealth killers. So... I guess it is obvious why I feel the way I do.

The map is way too big and confusing.

while split the map would be better it still wouldn’t fix the core issues

Well that's the point... The map is not a good idea for Dead by Daylight it's just there to increase their playerbase. The map is not made for DBD. It's a Hallway Chasing Simulator, Dead End Simulator or Where The FK Are The Stairs Simulator. It's there because of the series, not because it's a good map I hate it!!!!

Tinkerer goes off.... I'm walking in circles, bumping into 5 dead ends, I can't find that hidden staircase, why do I keep walking outside I didn't want to go here, where is the main hall!!! Oh... 3 gens done

That’s similar to how I was trying to patrol exit gates.
